  • I try to introduce three types of designs for automatic container operating system which are designed by Institute of Japan Port Research in 1996. Each types are designedto fit with the situations of Japan Port. 'A'type of these designs adapts Dual Container Crane, AGV, RMG, etc. 'B'type of these designs adapts Dual Container Crane, AGV, OHBC, RTG. And 'C'type of these designs adapts Single Container Crane, AGV, OHBC, etc. Even if three designs are introduced, they have some problems to solve for the future. They are Lashing work, Refeer container problem, check for container and seal in main gate, Establishing EDI NETWORK, etc. I expect that this paper will be a helps to development of our port industry.

무개형 콘테이너선 설계에 관한 고찰 (The Examination for Design of Hatchcoverless Containerships)

  • In recent years the hatchcoverless(or open-top) containerships have been evolving as a promising new concept for enhanced containership operations. The design concept of the hatchcoverless containership is innovative and appears to be worthwhile. especially from an operational viewpoint. The hatchcover and container lashing system have been eliminated and the containers are stacked in open hold fitted with cell guides. Thus this design concept can provide a more efficient and economically viable fleet due to the reduced time and cost of loading and unloading operations. Therefore turnaround time in port is also greatly reduced. This examination provides. brief background, advantages, brief review of new building containership, highlights of the pertinent areas requiring special consideration and recommendations of possible analyses herein.

  • The Lashing bridge and radar mast of ship are upright structures so they are generally exposed to excessive vibration. Recently, the use of low speed main engines for improving fuel efficiency has been increasing, and the excitation frequencies of the main engine are moving to the low frequency band. If the excitation frequencies are coincident with the natural frequencies of the local structure, excessive vibration occurs during main engine operating condition. The modal test is to experimentally determine resonance frequency, mode shape, and damping, which are vibration characteristics of a mechanical structure under dynamic external force. Through this study, the vibration characteristics of the structure are obtained by modal tests and the low vibration measure is applied to the local structures.

  • Capsize and sinking of a coastal car ferry has occurred in a Korean offshore area and has caused hundreds of human casualties. The rapid turn and improper cargo loading are inferred as the main reasons of the accident. It has motivated to develop a new system of cargo securing with improved safety of Korean coastal ferries. This paper provides a new approach regarding cargo securing safety assessment which is purely based on force equilibrium conditions, because IMO CSS is suitable for the ocean-going vessels. The mathematical formulations are presented for the new approach. This paper also introduces a newly developed safety assessment system based on the new approach. Most outstanding features are that it can utilize acceleration data produced from hydrodynamic motion analyses or assumed maximum extents of ship motion components and that securing safety assessment is simultaneously possible for unlimited number of cargoes with finite number of lashings.

  • 본 논문에서는 공동주택에 적합한 인하도선시스템과 접지시스템 설계를 위한 기본적 사항에 대하여 고찰하였다. 공동주택의 철근구조체는 전기적 연속성을 갖지만 철근들끼리의 결속선에 의한 접속은 전자기계력에 대한 내력이 부족하다. 따라서 전용의 인하도선을 설치하고 이들을 건물 양 측벽의 철근구조체와 본딩하여 낙뢰전류가 인하도선 및 철근구조체에 분산되어 흐르게 하는 인하도선시스템을 제시하였다. 한편 공동주택의 접지시스템은 건물기초접지극과 피뢰설비를 위한 환형 접지극으로 각각 구성하고 이들을 서로 본딩하는 접지시스템을 제시하였다. 또한 공동주택 각동의 건물기초접지극을 공동구의 철근구조체나 접지선을 이용하여 서로 연결함으로서 공동주택 단지에 거대한 총괄접지시스템을 구현하는 방안을 제시하였다. 하지만 이러한 피뢰시스템을 구축하기 위해서는 완벽한 본딩시스템의 구축이 전제되어야 한다.

해상중량물운송시 이후적된 질적 파손에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental study on the Damage to Heavy Cargoes in case of the Two Tiers Loading under Carriage bySea)

  • The Internation Maritime Organization (IMO) has required that ships other than cellular-ships which carry cargo units and other entities should be provided with a cargo securing manual. A number of serious accidents has resulted from improper stowage and insufficient securing of heavy cargo. The cargo claims caused by the accidents stated above not only reduce the number of shippers but also reduce their benefits. The following four basic safe items should be considered carefully in the carriage by sea in case of two tiers loading of heavy cargoes packed with wooden case if it is a general cargo ship. a) Safe stowing place b) Safe lashing c) Protecting crushing goods d) Adequate dunnage. All operators of cargoes must be reminded that only the proper stowge and securing of heavy cargos can prevent from the occurrence of such accidents in the future. This paper intends to analyze the unigue damage mechanism for two tiers loading of heavy cargoes on the general cargo ships encountered in the rough sea, and suggest the countermeusere to prevent the identical accidents in the future.

연안개량안강망어선의 조업 시스템 개선이 선원들의 작업 안전과 작업부하에 미치는 영향 (Effects of improvement of fishing operating system on a coastal improved stow net fishing vessel on the work safety and workload of seafarers)

  • This paper is the result of a comparative analysis of crew members' workloads using the EMG and OWAS methods according to the fishing process before and after the improvement of the operating system of the experimental vessel, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and safety work of coastal improved stow net fishing vessels. The target crew members were three people with at least five years of experience on board the same fishing vessel as the experimental vessel. After improving the operating system, such as installing a power block crane and two capstans, change the location of the ball-roller, the time required for setting and hauling work decreased (p < .01), and the evaluation results by OWAS showed that the overall workload for setting and hauling net work decreased. The results of muscle activity analysis showed a decrease in lashing anchor work (p < .01) in the case of hauling net and in anchor dropping work in the case of setting net (p < .001). It is judged that the use of ball rollers in net handling has been reduced; consequently, work safety has been improved.

  • 선박의 대형화 및 해상사업의 기업화 등에 따라 해상운송에 있어 화물의 하역, 보관 등의 전문적인 부분을 담당하고 있는 항만하역업자, 항만터미널운영자, 창고업자 등 독립계약자의 역할은 점점 증대되어 가고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 국제해상운송은 해상운송인과 화주를 중심으로 체결한 운송계약을 중심으로 이루어져 왔으므로, 영국 보통법상의 직접계약관계의 원칙에 의해 계약당사자가 아닌 자는 계약상의 이익을 원용할 수 없다는 입장을 유지하여 왔다. 이에 대해 이를 완화하고자 하는 다양한 방안이 적용되고 있으며, '히말라야약관'도 그러한 방안중의 하나이다. 본 논문은 최근 대법원판결을 통해 우리나라 법원의 히말라야약관의 유효성 인정에 대한 내용을 재검토하고 독립계약자, 특히 항만터미널운영자의 운송계약상 제3자의 권리인정에 관한 문제에 대한 각국의 경향에 대해 살펴본다.

선박용 감요장치에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Anti-Rolling Systems for Vessels)

  • It has been expected not only for crew but also for passengers to realize a ship whose rolling and other motions are small as much as possible. Restricting our consideration to the roll reduction, the conventional roll stabilization system, fins or anti-rolling tanks hve been utiized as the actuator. Excessive motions would interfere with the recreational activities of passengers on a cruise ship. Often more than half of the load of a containership is stowed above deck where it is subjected to large acclerations due to rolling. In some situations this may cause some internal damage to the contents of the containers; in more severe situations failure of the lashing can occur and containers may be lost over-board. Underdeck cargo in ordinary cargo ships and bulk commodities in colliers, ore ships and grain ships can shift if the motions become too severe. The purpose of this study is to concentrate on the additions. either internal or external to the hull, that reduce or otherwise improve the motion responses of the hull. It is assumed that the additions are such that their benefit to the motions of the ship outweights any impact on the ability of the ship to perform its assigned task. It is particularly challenging to obtain large improvements in the motion characteristics of existing ships that are being rebuilt or modified for some task not anticipated in their original design. Further the authors will statistically analyze the influence of ruder-roll-yaw coupling motion in the case of application of this advanced control method to various kinds of ship.

Third, it can be contributed to make the brand more active by improving his or her satisfaction with the design and pattern which he or she wants. Also it can bring up the effects as fellows; first, lashing power of the design can be increased by the order-made fashion design to attract his or her interest, and also it can make him or her more satisfied. Second, the competitiveness can be strengthened by the differentiation of the fashion site between the existing design and the order-made fashion design. Third, the production of design can be higher and also its expense can be reduced even for the small and medium-sized clothes maker or merchants. Finally, it is able to enlarge the applicable field into the design of small articles, home fashion, and textile which they want to sell the differentiated and order-made products.
