  • The Direct Drive Arm(DDA) is a SCARA typed direct drive manipulator with two degrees-of-freedom(DOF) using the direct drive motor of the NSK company. A controller system for the SCARA robot of DDA is designed using a DSP (TMS32Oc3O), which has the highest performance among the third DSP chips in the TI company. The design objective of the system is to implement dynamic control algorithms and neural control algorithms for real time learning which require a lot of calculations and large memory and have been tested only by simulations so far. The controller uses a DSP, a high speed D/A, 32-bit Counter and a large DRAM to implement advanced robot control algorithms.

  • The launch of a new business is crucial to the future growth and profitability of a company. A new business project typically requires a large amount of resources while it has a high possibility of failure. The evaluation of new business opportunities is therefore quite a critical decision-making to companies. This evaluation includes screening of a large number of criteria at a time which often makes desision-making very complicated. Management should evaluate the business alternatives in a sound and consistent manner that is hard to achieve because the new business evaluation is a typical semi/unstructured decision-making problem. The difficulty in such an evaluation will increase if it is required for management to consider both quantitative and qualitative criteria simultaneously. Under these circumstances, this study has proposed a decision-making framework that utilizes analytical hierarchy process(AHP). This study has identified a set of criteria essential to the new business evaluation and suggested a systematic framework for it. Both qualitative and quantitative evaluations are incorporated into the single framework in this study.

  • This study compares the reasons why targe and Small companies are adopting electronic commerce(e-commerce) based on an assumption of difference between two groups of companies. We collected data for contemporaneous analysis by classification with two groups of companies in Korea and developed an integrated model from the empirical studies and made Question papers for inspection of created hypothesis. Hypothesis is composed with nine factors ; Customers, Suppliers, Pertner Firms, Competitors, Relative Advantage, Cost Compatibility, CEO's Innovativeness and CEO's Involvement. The research shows Large company is influenced significantly by Customers, Relative Advantage, Cost, CEO's Innovativeness and Small company is by Competitors, CEO's Involvement.

  • In order to export aircraft components or substructures, it is necessary to get a certification from the main company for the components or an airworthiness certification from the FAA. In Korea, those processes are performed by a small number of private companies for aircraft components. However, airworthiness certification has never been done in the company. To export an assembled aircraft, whether small or large, it is obligatory to get a certification for the aircraft being exported. Currently, the Korean government is trying to get BASA agreement in a few years. For a mid-size company, it is easier to get the NADCAP audit process for the supply of aircraft components to the main company. In this paper, the overall process of aircraft certification is discussed and airworthiness certification is treated for export aircraft. Moreover, the NADCAP audit process is described in detail by introducing example parts made of composite material. This detailed process would be very helpful to a small or mid-size company that wants to develop and deliver aircraft components to foreign companies.

  • In ths study, I proposed the need for strengthening the information analysis function of research library whch is in charge of knowledge control in a company based on knowledge management. In the operating steps of information management for a company, 1 studed about providmg analyzed dormation at the level of a professional in various forms through intranet within a company after processing and analyzing the collected raw lnformation to make customized lnformation according to the need of each group, rather than passively providing information as required by users. By establishmg the senior decision-making person within the company as the core user in contrast with information s e ~ c e spr ovided in large libraries, ths will give us a new position as lnformation manager, who can accomplish tlie corporate goal. • The old Samcheok construction company housing in Donghae City was built for employees of Nitrogenous lime factory with railway construction in 1939. The 31 company houses are arranged in a rows including a House A, two No. 2 and 3 Houses, a dormitory, 12 row houses of two households, and 15 row houses of four households. At present, they are preserved with prototype at that time of building as a private company. Researching the architectural characteristics from A and No. $2{\cdot}3$ detached houses of them, the results are as follows. The tea room, living room, and kitchen are centralized and connected with toilet, bathroom, and maid's room by corridor. The exterior wall was finished with paintwork on cement mortar on stud wall framing plastered. The key exterior elements such as diamond shaped asbestos slate, large openings, corner bay window, lintel cornice are in accordance with drawings that they were first designed. The wooden roof structure is based on the structure that supports transverse load with a beam and beam plate instead of thrust. The kitchen and toilet are remodelled and only seem to be a mere shadow of their former self, but the position of sink and toilet bowl is the same as before.

  • Work related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) became a major problem since 2000 in shipbuilding industry. WMSDs are known to be resulted from awkward postures, high repetitive motions, excessive forces, mechanical stress and vibration. Korean government enacted a law to require companies to take measures to prevent musculoskeletal disorders at work. If there are more than 10 incidences of WMSDs or 5 incidences which are more than 10 percent of all workers in a company, this law requires a company to implement an ergonomics program. A few large companies in shipbuilding industry have already implemented or are in the process of implementing an ergonomics program. This paper presents a case study of an implementation of an ergonomics program in a Korean shipbuilding company. We audited the process of the ergonomics program in this shipbuilding company four times for 3 years. Based on the findings, this paper presents effects and problems of an ergonomics program and improvement measures of them. These findings will help companies which want to implement an ergonomics program in the future.

  • The general view of the division of affiliates of many large corporations is a reorganization of the governance structure, and the smooth division of affiliates is often well wrapped up in a beautiful breakup. However, the parties to the breakup are not only the owners of the company, but all employees as well. Separation of the owner family can be done with joy and good feelings, because they are separated according to the will of the owner family, and each becomes the owner of the company. As Commitment decreases and turnover behavior appears, it is necessary to take a strategic approach to members, along with consideration. This study looked into the recent separation of LG Group's affiliates based on this point of view. To this end, we focused on the case of LX Hausys of LX Group, which was separated from LG Group. To this end, through a meeting with the person in charge of LX Hausys, the company's response to the division was investigated, and FGI was conducted for retired and current members. As a result, it was confirmed through the person in charge that no appropriate measures were taken due to the separation of the company. Through FGI with the retirees and incumbents, the psychological resistance of the members and the decrease in organizational commitment and the increase in turnover intention was confirm.

  • This study investigated the method of continuous improvement of small-medium company production processes through POSCO's QSS(Quick Six Sigma) activities. QSS is a field operation technique that encompasses the advantages of Six Sigma, TPS(Toyota Production System), TQM (Total Quality Management), and IE(Industrial Engineering). Through this, POSCO not only encourages activities centered on related small and medium-sized partners, etc., but is also expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's own production process through QSS activities. In this study, rather than unconditionally carrying out activities according to the needs of large companies, the research is to help the continuous improvement of the actual production process of small and medium-sized enterprises by effectively applying and spreading QSS activities in consideration of the characteristics and environment of the company. For this purpose, empirical research is conducted on the process improvement activities and QSS activities of company Y, which has less than 100 assembly and production quality and inspection processes among SMEs. The changes in the production process improvement of SMEs through the application of the final QSS were investigated through empirical studies.
