근감과 진동촉감 피드백을 제공하는 햅틱 인터페이스용 새로운 소형 액추에이터의 개발 (Development of a New Miniature Actuator providing both Kinesthetic and Vibrotactile Feedback for Haptic Interface)

  • This paper presents a new miniature haptic display to convey ample haptic information to a user of a handheld interface. There are buttons on interfaces or general electronic devices, but existing buttons provide haptic feedback of only one passive pattern to a user. Because humans perceive tactile and kinesthetic information simultaneously when they handle objects the proposed actuator provides both sensations at once. It is able to generate various levels of kinesthetic sensations when pressing a button under diverse situations. Also, vibrotactile feedback can be delivered for exciting haptic effects with numerous patterns. Its performance was evaluated in accordance with the resistive force by changing the intensity of the input current. Experiments show that the proposed actuator has the ability to provide numerous haptic sensations for more realistic and complex haptic experiences.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 발달장애아동들을 대상으로 하여 사용자들이 교육 플랫폼을 터치했을 때 다양한 햅틱 감각을 경험할 수 있는 교육 플랫폼을 설계 개발하는 데 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 상호작용형 교육 플랫폼은 굳기감 제시 모듈, 진동감 제시 모듈, 온열감 제시 모듈과 제어 모듈로 구성되어 있다. 제안하는 교육 플랫폼은 충분한 세기의 압감, 진동감, 온도를 생성하고, 이를 사용자가 잘 느낄 수 있도록 설계하는 데에 중점을 두었다. 개발된 교육 플랫폼의 성능을 알아보기 위해 온열감, 진동감, 압감에 대한 사용자 실험을 진행하였고, 세 가지 모듈 모두 안전하게 교육 플랫폼으로 활용 가능한 범위에서 작동하는 것으로 나타났다.

소비자 관점에서의 패션디자인 평가요소가 디자인 가치 및 브랜드 충성도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Fashion Design Evaluation Factors on Design Value and Brand Loyalty from the Consumer's Perspective)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of consumers' fashion design evaluation factors on design value and brand loyalty. After confirming a research hypothesis, 247 people were selected as subjects for empirical analysis, and the results of the study are as follows. As a result of the analysis of 'the influence of consumer's fashion design evaluation factors on design value', the fashion design evaluation factors of 'convenience', 'social activity usefulness' and 'fashion ability' had an effect on the emotional design value. 'Convenience', 'functional usefulness', 'social activity usefulness', 'fashionableness' and 'aesthetic' factors affected the rational design value. 'Convenience', 'fashionableness', 'aesthetic' and 'psychological self-conformity' had a positive (+) effect on kinesthetic design values. As a result of the analysis of 'Influence of consumer's fashion design value on brand loyalty', 'emotional design value', 'rational design value' and 'kinesthetic design value' affect attitude brand loyalty, and 'emotional design value' and 'kinesthetic design value' affect brand loyalty. It was found that 'kinesthetic design value' has an effect on behavioral brand loyalty. As a result of the analysis of 'the effect of consumer attitude brand loyalty on behavioral brand loyalty', it was analyzed that attitude brand loyalty had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on behavioral brand loyalty.

역/촉감 햅틱 상호작용을 위한 "K-$Touch^{TM}$" API 개발 - 햅틱(Haptic) 개발자 및 응용분야를 위한 소프트웨어 인터페이스 - (Development of K-$Touch^{TM}$ API for kinesthetic/tactile haptic interaction)

  • 본 논문은 새로운 햅틱 API인 "K-$Touch^{TM}$"의 개발에 관한 것으로 역/촉감 상호작용이 가능하도록 설계된 소프트웨어 아키텍처이다. K-$Touch^{TM}$는 햅틱 세부 기술을 잘 알지 못해도 응용분야를 쉽게 제작할 수 있도록 구성되어 있으며, 햅틱 기술을 개발하는 개발자가 쉽게 개발 내용을 추가할 수 있도록 구성되어 있다. 그래픽 하드웨어 기반의 핵심 역감 알고리즘을 기반으로 개발된 K-$Touch^{TM}$ API는 가상 환경을 구성하는 다양한 데이터 형식(2D, 2.5D depth(height field), 3D polygon 및 볼륨 데이터)에 대한 햅틱 상호작용을 가능하게 하고, 새로운 햅틱 알고리즘 및 장치 개발에 필요한 소프트웨어 확장성을 제공함과 동시에 사용자가 쉽고 빠르게 햅틱 응용분야를 개발할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 아울러 햅틱 감각의 중요 요소인 역감 및 촉감 상호작용을 위해 기존의 햅틱 SDK 및 API와 달리 역/촉감을 동시에 렌더링할 수 있는 알고리즘이 개발되었다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 새로운 햅틱 API의 효용성을 검증하기 위해 다양한 응용분야의 예를 구현하였다. 새로운 햅틱 API인 K-Touch는 사용자 및 연구자에게 보다 효율적으로 햅틱 연구를 진행 할 수 있도록 도움을 주는 툴킷(Toolkit)으로써 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

  • 최근 디지털 네이티브 학습자를 위한 교수방법으로 게임활용학습에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학교 역사수업에 맞추어 개발된 동작인식 게임을 활용하여 수업을 실시한 후 신체운동지능, 언어지능, 몰입, 학습성과(학업성취도, 지속의향) 간 경로분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 신체운동지능은 몰입에 직접적인 영향을 학습성과에는 간접적인 영향을 미쳤고, 언어지능은 몰입에 직접적인 영향, 그리고 학습성과에의 간접적인 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 결과를 통해, 동작인식 게임활용학습은 신체운동 역량이 높은 학습자들의 학습동기 및 성과 향상을 지원할 수 있음을 기대하게 한다.

The Influence of Cognitive Factors on the Creative Abilities in Design -Focused on the Sensory Modalities and Thinking Modes-

  • The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of Cognitive Factors (CF) on the Creative Abilities (CAs) in design. We set up a model of Cognitive Design Process (CDP), which consists of four domains: Concepts, Experience, Five Senses (FS), and Thinking Modes (TM). Here, experience is first perceived by the five senses, and then recognized by intelligence. We regard design as a transforming process from concept to experience. For this study, two major Sensory Modalities (Visual and Kinesthetic), four Thinking Modes (Brain Dominance Profile), and four Creative Abilities (Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration) were reviewed. We hypothesized that idea generation is influenced by different Sensory Modalities (Visual Sense vs. Kinesthetic Sense) and Thinking Modes, and that these have a close relationship with the attributes of CAs. Firstly, we have examined the cognitive thinking model in design. Then, we adapted the Test of Creative Abilities of Design Thinking (TCADT) for measuring CAs. We surveyed the CAs under CF in particular. Finally, we have investigated the influences of the different Sensory Modalities (Visual Sense vs. Kinesthetic Sense) on CAs. It was found that a close relationship between Brain Dominance and CAs, and Sensory Modalities (SM) have different influence on these creative abilities. As a result, a tool for the Test of CAs and a framework for creative idea generation with the effective CF will be presented. These provide the basis for a new approach to creative idea generation in Experience Design.

마우스형 통합 질감 제시 시스템 개발 (Development of an Integrated Mouse Type Tactile Display System)

  • In this paper, we suggest an integrated tactile display system that provides kinesthetic force, pressure distribution, vibration and slip/stretch. The system consists of two parts: a 2 DOF force feedback device for kinesthetic display and a tactile feedback device for displaying the normal stimulation to the skin and the skin slip/stretch. Psychophysical experiments measure the effects of fingerpad selection, the direction of finger movements and the texture width on tactile sensitivity. We also investigate the characteristics of lateral finger movement while subjects perceive different textures. From the experimental results, the principal parameters for designing a tactile display are suggested. A tactile display device, using eight piezoelectric bimorphs and a linear actuator, Is implemented and attached to a 2 DOF translational force feedback device to simultaneously simulate the texture and stiffness of the object. As a result, we find out that the capability of the suggested device is sufficient to display physical quantities to display the texture.

  • The basic technology of virtual reality can be described as the cognition of the condition change in virtual world by stimulating the visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile sensation. Among these, the kinesthetic and tactile sensation is one of the most important things to recognize the interaction. In this paper, it is addressed the haptic device which help the human feel the sense of the operator, and is designed in modular type to expand for five fingers later. the haptic device is driven by tendon and ultrasonic motors located in the wrist part. Each joint is actuated by coupled tendons and adopts more actrator by one than the number of the joints, called 'N+1 type'. The haptic device adopts metamorphic 4-bar linkage structure and the length of linkages, shape and the location of joint displacement sensor are optimized through the analysis.

  • In this paper, a new control scheme for master-slave control of telerobot is proposed. The porposed method can be classified into unilater master-slave control methods in the aspect of the data flow. But the master arm in the proposed control scheme can deliver operator the similar kinesthetic sense as other bilateral force reflecting master arms do. The principle concept is that the sensed operator's force/torque is used as the reference input for a damping controller type of telerobot controller which track the operators efforts. Master arm and master controller can be implemented in a simple form, and it needs not be driven by actuators, but force sensing capability.
