  • This paper is to investigate the effect of poor quality aggregate source used in Korea on the mixture proportion and strength development of the high strength concrete fixed at 450 kg/m3 of cement contents. For aggregate kinds, good quality crushed stone from KS certified manufacturer and low quality crushed stone from non certified construction field are used. For fine aggregates, river sand, land sand, sea sand and mixed sand are also used. It is found that the use of low quality aggregates resulted in an increase of water demand considerably due to poor gradation of aggregate and excessive fine particles. Test results indicate that the use of low quality aggregate also decreases the compressive strength compared with that of good quality aggregate.

  • This study investigated influence of fine aggregate types on fundamental properties of cement mortar. Test showed that concrete using lime stone crushed fine aggregate(L) exhibited the most favorable fluidity due to grain shape and particle distribution, and next was blending aggregate miting L and G, blending aggregate mixing L and N, granite crushed fine aggregate(G), natural fine aggregate(N) in an order. Concrete using N had the highest air content and L was the smallest value because of the effective filling performance by continuos particle distribution. Compressive, tensile and flexural strength of all concrete using L had the highest value due to the smallest value of air content. It is also found that concrete using L resulted in decrease of drying shrinkage length change ratio.

  • The research, in order to enhance the quality of recycled aggregate, was carried out the quality characteristics test of the recycled aggregates by applying the four kinds of surface treatment using a colloidal suspension of approximately 5nm~60nm particle size with the alkalinity of pH 10.2. The quality tests of recycled aggregate have been processed by specific gravity, water absorption, porosity, surface properties, and the compression and tensile tests. The colloidal suspension was coated effectively the surface of the old cement mortars of recycled aggregate with a constant thickness by colloidal suspension is being applied to the recycled aggregate surface under constant pressure of 100kpa and then it was dried in at $60^{\circ}C$. The surface treatment method by the Method C out of 4 kinds of surface treatment improved effectively the quality of the recycled aggregates, whereby it obtained the best compressive strength and tensile strength of the recycled aggregate concrete.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the properties of fresh concrete with recycled fine aggregates. Three different kinds of fine aggregate with natural, high and low quality recycled aggregates were prepared. The concrete mixtures were produced with test parameters of replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate. The properties of the fresh concrete were measured by means of slump and air content according to elapsed time. Quality control method to maintain the constant total mixing water for recycled aggregate concrete was suggested. The all concrete mixtures were produced with approximately the same slump on the job site after an hour. Test results indicated that compressive strength of the concrete mixtures with constant slump is not affected by the replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate. Therefore, the practical way for the quality control of recycled aggregate concrete is to maintain the constant total mixing water.

  • This paper is an experimental study on applicability of repairing mortar using multi-functional slag aggregate. In this study, automatic construction machinery system were adapted, and their performance were evaluated by the using of those systems. In order to verify the effect of multi-functional aggregate, two kinds of aggregate were used and compared of their physical properties. The results indicate that multi-functional aggregate appears good physical properties such as durability, permeability coefficient.

  • In this study, various mechanical properties of concretes employing waste concrete as aggregate were examined. These concretes were obtained by mixing seven types of aggregate for different ratios. So, the experimental variables are the kinds of aggregates (some different aggregate compositions) and W/C ratio (0.40, 0.45, 0.50). From experimental results, the reliable regression analysis equations between compressive strength and various experimental data for recycled aggregate concrete are presented. Consequently, this study was accomplished to investigate basic engineering properties of recycled aggregate concrete using waste concrete.

  • In order to research the influence of different recycled aggregate contents on the mechanical properties of pervious concrete, the experimental study and numerical simulation analysis of the mechanical properties of pervious concrete with five kinds of recycled aggregates contents (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) are carried out in this paper. The experimental test were first performed on concrete specimens of different sizes in order to determine the influence of recycled aggregate on the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength, direct tension strength and bending strength. Then, the development of the internal cracks of pervious concrete under different working conditions is studied more intuitively by $PFC^{3D}$. The experimental results show that the concrete compressive strength, tensile strength and bending strength decrease with the increase of the recycled aggregate contents. This trend of reduction is not only related to the brittleness of recycled aggregate concrete, but also to the weak viscosity of recycled aggregate and cement paste. It is found that the fracture surface of pervious concrete with recycled aggregate is smoother than that of natural aggregate pervious concrete by $PFC^{3D}$, which means that the bridging effect is weakened in the stress transfer between the left and right sides of the crack. Through the analysis of the development of the internal cracks, the recycled aggregate concrete generated more cracks than the natural aggregate concrete, which means that the recycled aggregate concrete is easier to form a coalescence fracture surface and eventually break.

  • In this research, the effect of types of aggregate and SP on fundamental properties of ultra-high performance concrete of 80 MPa of compressive strength was evaluated to provide solution for high cost of ultra-high performance concrete. As the results of a series of tests, the mixture using limestone and silica aggregates showed improved workability rather than the mixture using granite aggregate. For compressive strength of UHPC, the UHPC mixtures using limestone and silica aggregates showed higher compressive strength than the UHPC mixture using granite aggregate while all mixtures satisfied target compressive range.

  • The objective of this study is to find out effects of horizontal vibration on the compressive strength for 7days and 28 days cured concrete specimens according to the variation of fine aggregate modului, vibration velocities, and times began to vibrate. Four kinds of fine aggregate modului(40, 42, 45, 47%), three of vibration velocities(0.25, 0.5 0.1kine(cm/sec)), and four of times(0, 3, 6, 9hrs after concrete casting) were chosen as the experimental parameters in this study, the vibrations were applied for 30 minutes in each case. From this study, it could be seen that the most increase of compressive strengths were obtained in case of 47% fine aggregate modulus, and 0.25kine of vibration velocity, but the strength was decreased when vibrated after 9hrs from concrete casting.

  • This study is to consider the influence strength of concrete according to the kinds of coarse aggregate. The experimental study conditions are varied with different maximum size of coarse aggregate(13mm, 19mm, 25mm) and the weight of water and S/a are constant. The compressive strength properties of the concrete at 7 days, 28 days are examined. According to the experimental results, the compressive strength increased and air content, slump decreased with maximum size of coarse aggregate increased.
