  • A study on the fine structure of the genus Achnanthes species (Bacillariophyceae) is carried out at 92 stations for taxonomic purposes from January 2009 to April 2013 in Korean marine water, freshwater and brackish water. Twelve Achnanthes species are identified based on a variety of taxonomic characters by means of light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Of these, seven species, Achnanthes cocconeioides, A. groenlandica, A. javanica, A. kuwaitensis, A. parvula, A. pseudolongipes, and A. yaquinensis, are newly recorded in Korean waters. All 12 species are documented concerning a taxonomic key, description, distribution, seasonality, remarks and photographs. Twenty three Achnanthes taxa are identified in the survey.

  • Some scale worms collected in korean coastal waters from 1981 to 1984 were identified with 7 species belonging to subfamily Harmothoinae. AMong them, 4 species( Gattyana deludens, Eunoe senta, Harmothoe hirsuta , Lagisca waahli) are new to Korea. Therefore, all of the harmothoid species in Korea are 11 species representing 6 genera. Classificatory key is made on the morphological characters of harmothoids and their ecological distributions and remakrs are shown.

  • The role of university is expanded from the human resource provider to demand site. The mission is also changed as a entrepreneurs. There is increasing in the needs of the university and industry cooperation(UIC), but cultural difference also happened. To successfully cooperation, we have to consider stakeholder's perspective and the size of companies and universities. Through the best c luster of innovation, we can figure out the key success factors of the universities, researchers, and leaders, and suggest the new characters for successful UIC.

  • The 21 century has entered a stage of innovation with current globalization. The technical development of science has changed more rapidly than any other era and through this change, design will control the world. For this reason, I consider that researching Philippe Starck's - one of most active designers in the world- philosophies and traits of his work can be the key to understanding 21st century's design characters and main trends. Furthermore this research will also help to predict future design. Philippe Starck has diverse traits but this study would like to focus on his trait of Surrealism. First I have arranged all his design backgrounds including periodic circumstance which influenced his works. Secondly I researched and analyzed how his design philosophy has expressed his works. Phillppe Starck defines Surrealism as an expression of a dream and unconsciousness showing an indoor view and he expresses his characteristic wit and humor by presenting completely different and exceptional space from what people have usually seen.

  • A halacarid species of Scaptognathus teuriensis $Ab{\acute{e}}$ is recorded from Korea on the basis of the specimens collected from littoral sandy sediments at Dokdo Island, the easternmost island off Uleung Island of South Korea. Korean specimens coincide well with the key characters in the original description for types from Hokkaido, Japan, such as male genitoanal plate comprising only pars sclerosum, bipartite female genitoanal plate with six perigenital setae, rounded posterior margin of anterior dorsal plate, second and fifth dorsal setae both positioned at membranous cuticle, leg chaetotaxy of bipectinate setae on tibiae I-IV of 4-2-2-2, and tarsi of all legs armed with paired large lateral claws with accessary teeth and small median claw. Redescription based on Korean specimens and scanning electron microscope photomicrographs are provided herein. This is the first record of the genus from Korea.

  • Five species of the genus Aulacaspis (Sternorrhyncha, Diaspididae) from Korea were redescribed and illustrated for the morphological characters of adult females with the information of known host plants. Among them, Aulacaspis spinosa (Maskell, 1897) is reported for the first time from the Korean Peninsula. A key to species is given for the adult females.
