  • There exist many frame structural systems having some attachments reducible to damped spring-mass systems, concentracted masses and spring supports. For free and forced vibration analyses of such a system an analytical method based on the receptance method is presented. A framed structure having attachments is considered as a combined system composed of various Timoshenko beam and bar elements and the attachments. So, the vibration characteristics of the system are calculated by synthesizing receptances and Support Displacement Transfer Ratio (SDTR) of beam and bar elements In spectral and/or closed forms, and receptances of the attachments. In forced vibration analysis, arbitrary excitation forces at a point on the structure and displacement excitations at boundaries are considered. Numerical investigations are carried out for verification of the presented method, and the results show good accuracy and very high computational efficiency.

  • Simultaneous treatment of food waste leachate and power generation was investigated in an air-cathode microbial fuel cell. A TCOD removal efficiency of $95.4{\pm}0.3%$ was achieved for an initial COD concentration of 2,860 mg/L. Maximum power density ranged was maximized at $1.86W/m^3$, when COD concentration varied between 60 mg/L and 2,860 mg/L. Meanwhile, columbic efficiency was determined between 1.76% and 11.07% for different COD concentrations. Cyclic voltammetric data revealed that the oxidation peak voltage occurred at -0.20 V, shifted to about -0.25 V. Moreover, a reduction peak voltage at -0.45 V appeared when organic matters were exhausted, indicating that reducible matters were produced during the decomposition of organic matters. The results showed that it was feasible to use food waste leachate as a fuel for power generation in a microbial fuel cell, and the treatment efficiency of the wastewater was satisfied.

  • Gottlieb polynomials were introduced and investigated in 1938, and then have been cited in several articles. Very recently Khan and Akhlaq introduced and investigated Gottlieb polynomials in two and three variables to give their generating functions. Subsequently, Khan and Asif investigated the generating functions for the $q$-analogue of Gottlieb polynomials. In this sequel, by modifying Khan and Akhlaq's method, Choi presented a generalization of the Gottlieb polynomials in $m$ variables to present two generating functions of the generalized Gottlieb polynomials ${\varphi}^m_n({\cdot})$. Here, we show that many formulas regarding the Gottlieb polynomials in m variables and their reducible cases can easily be obtained by using one of two generating functions for Choi's generalization of the Gottlieb polynomials in m variables expressed in terms of well-developed Lauricella series $F^{(m)}_D[{\cdot}]$.

  • The so-called overapplication of Coda Neutralization in Korean, the occurrence of a neutralized consonant in a non-neutralizing environment, is often considered as evidence for serial derivation. In this paper I propose that the neutralization effect at surface is not a result of a phonological process at an intermediate level in serial derivation, but due to a constraint requiring the integrity of the morphological constituent: EDGE-INTEGRITY. It is argued that this is not reducible to an alignment constraint, but a genuine faithfulness constraint on the edge of a morphological constituent. The putative opacity related with the coda neutralization is shown to be an epiphenomenon arising from the ambisyllabic representation of a consonant at a morphological juncture, satisfying both EDGE-INTEGRITY arid Syllabic Conditions. Consonant Copy in the Jeju dialect provides further evidence for EDGE-INTEGRITY, the Only difference being that the conflict between Syllabic Conditions and EDGE-INTEGRITY is resolved by insertion of a copied consonant.

  • In this article, we first consider a linear multiplier fractional q-differintegral operator and then use it to define new subclasses of p-valent analytic functions in the open unit disk U. An attempt has also been made to obtain two new q-integral operators and study their sufficient conditions on some classes of analytic functions. We also point out that the operators and classes presented here, being of general character, are easily reducible to yield many diverse new and known operators and function classes.

  • Sustainable and eco-friendly polymers, natural polymers, bio-based polymers, and degradable polyesters, are of growing interest because of environmental concerns associated with waste plastics and emissions of carbon dioxide from preparation of petroleum-based polymers. Degradable polymers, poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT), poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC), and poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), are related to reduction of carbon dioxide in processing. To improve a weak mechanical property of a degradable polymer, a blending method is widely used. This study was forced on the component separation of degradable polymer blends for effective recycling. The melt-mixed blend films in a specific solvent were separated by two layers. Each layer was analysed by FT-IR, DSC, and contact angle measurements. The results showed that each component in the PPC/PLLA and PPC/PBAT blends was successfully separated by a solvent.

  • Contents of heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb) in the sediments of Ulsan Bay were investigated by the sequential extraction methods that classifies heavy metals into five types of chemical forms: exchangeable, bound to carbonates, bound to Fe-Mn oxides, bound to organic matter and residual. The analytes were determined by using an ICP-MS. Total Cr concentrations in the sediments were in the range of 41.6-96.4, Cu 60.7-680, Zn 189-1954, Cd 33.1-83.4, and Pb 138-567 mg/kg. Results of sequential fractionation indicates that relatively high proportion $(\~44\%)$ of Cu is associated with organic matter A large proportion of Pb is associated with three types of chemical forms: Fe-Mn oxides, organic matter, and residual. There were significant correlation in concentrations between the exchangeable components and total organic carbons. The heavy metals in the residual phase cannot be easily released to the environment since these are bound to the crystal lattice. But, reducible and organic Phases cfn a significant amount of most heavy metals. Therefore. there is potential danger of a substantial amount of metals becoming chemically mobile with environmental changes.

  • A 2-year-old, castrated male Chihuahua dog was referred for revision surgery for reluxation of the patella following surgery for medial patellar luxation (MPL) of the left stifle joint. On general inspection, the patient showed bilateral hindlimb weight-bearing lameness. On physical examination, bilateral non-reducible MPL was detected through palpation. Radiographs revealed bone deformities of both hindlimbs. Computed tomography (CT) was applied for a three-dimensional (3D) printing bone model to establish an accurate surgical plan. The bone plate was pre-contoured over the 3D-printing bone model after execution of corrective osteotomy and sterilized prior to use in surgery. Corrective osteotomy was performed through a staged, bilateral procedure. The patient showed improvement of limb function following surgery without reluxation of the patella. The use of 3D-printing bone model for accurate surgical planning of corrective osteotomy appears to be effective in increasing the accuracy of surgery. That may lead to successful surgical outcomes.

  • Airborne particles collected from a heavily industrialized site were analyzed by chemical speciation of seven trace metals: Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn, and As. The average concentrations were as follows: $Zn,\;502.0{\pm}230.7;\;Pb,\;176.5{\pm}310.9;\;Cu,\;111.9{\pm}82.7;\;As,\;38.0{\pm}31.0;\;Cr,\;21.5{\pm}24.4;\;Cd,\;20.8{\pm}17.4;\;and\;Ni,\;11.4{\pm}8.4\;ng/m^3$. The median enrichment factor (EF) values of Cd (7,280), As (1,030), Cu (215), Zn (214), and Pb (143), with respect to iron, were much larger than 100. We observed that Cd was found in the soluble and exchange- able form (56.9%), and that Pb and Cr were found in carbonates, oxides and the reducible form (69.8% and 61.1%, respectively). These two forms, which are the most easily absorbed into human body tissue, predominated in most of the trace metals investigated in this study.
