  • The effect of trimming process to adjust accurate resistance of a thin-film resistor was studied with respect to low temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR) and high precision. The characteristics of a thin-film resistor fabricated by sputtering were investigated depending on trimming condition and annealing temperature. Measured results showed that the characteristic of a thin-film resistor was degraded with increased trimming speed. However, an average resistance deviation and a TCR were improved to $0.26\%$ and 52.77[ppm/K], respectively, through annealing treatment. Also, thin-film resistors with 1 k$\Omega$ and 10k$\Omega$ showed better performance compared to a resistor with 100k$\Omega$. The Optimal trimming speed and annealing temperature were 20mm/sec and 539K, respectively, and under this optimal condition, a thin-film resistor with an average resistance deviation of $0.31\%$ and a TCR of below 10[ppm/K] was obtained.

  • Assume that R is a commutative ring with non-zero identity which is not an integral domain. An ideal I of R is called an annihilating ideal if there exists a non-zero element $a{\in}R$ such that Ia = 0. S. Visweswaran and H. D. Patel associated a graph with the set of all non-zero annihilating ideals of R, denoted by ${\Omega}(R)$, as the graph with the vertex-set $A(R)^*$, the set of all non-zero annihilating ideals of R, and two distinct vertices I and J are adjacent if I + J is an annihilating ideal. In this paper, we study the relations between the diameters of ${\Omega}(R)$ and ${\Omega}(R[x])$. Also, we study the relations between the diameters of ${\Omega}(R)$ and ${\Omega}(R[[x]])$, whenever R is a Noetherian ring. In addition, we investigate the relations between the diameters of this graph and the zero-divisor graph. Moreover, we study some combinatorial properties of ${\Omega}(R)$ such as domination number and independence number. Furthermore, we study the complement of this graph.

  • S-2-($\omega-aminoalkylamino) ethyl dihydrogen phosphorothioates and S-2-($\omega$-aminoalkylamino) ethyl isothiuronium bromides were prepared from easily available starting compounds via convenient synthetic processes. The isothiuronium derivatives showed extreme drug toxicities as compared to that of AET, which seemed to be due to an intramolecular rearrangement of these compounds. The propyl derivative of the phosphorothioate could show better radioprotective effect than those of AET and WR-638, whereas the ethyl derivative of the equivalent drug dose revealed far less protective effect. The correlation between radioprotective effects, drug toxicities, and chemical structures were discussed through infrared spectroscopy.

  • Modeling an equilibrium atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) in an empty computational domain has routinely been performed with the k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. However, the research objects of structural wind engineering are bluff bodies, and the SST k-${\omega}$ turbulence model is more widely used in the numerical simulation of flow around bluff bodies than the k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. Therefore, to simulate an equilibrium ABL based on the SST k-${\omega}$ turbulence model, the inlet profiles of the mean wind speed U, turbulence kinetic energy k, and specific dissipation rate ${\omega}$ are proposed, and the source terms for the U, k and ${\omega}$ are derived by satisfying their corresponding transport equations. Based on the proposed inlet profiles, numerical comparative studies with and without considering the source terms are carried out in an empty computational domain, and an actual numerical simulation with a trapezoidal hill is further conducted. It shows that when the source terms are considered, the profiles of U, k and ${\omega}$ are all maintained well along the empty computational domain and the accuracy of the actual numerical simulation is greatly improved. The present study could provide a new methodology for modeling the equilibrium ABL problem and for further CFD simulations with practical value.

  • Estimations were made of oxidative susceptibility and fatty acid composition of edible meats of native chickens fed various dietary sources containing ${\omega}-3$ polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). A total of 240 Korean native chickens were divided into 4 groups, placed into 3 replicates per group, and were fed a commercial diet (Control) or one of the three experimental diets containing 10% perilla meal (PM group), 10% perilla meal-5% full fat flaxseed (PM+FS group), or 10% perilla meal-5% full fat flaxseed-1% fish oil (PM+FS+FO group) for 20 days. Final body weight, weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion rate among the groups were not significantly different. Dietary treatments did not affect the relative weights of liver, abdominal fat, and breast muscle. The leg weight was increased from the feeding of ${\omega}-3$ PUFA sources. The TBA reactive substance in the edible meat was not different with the dietary treatments. The total ${\omega}-3$ PUFA in chickens that were fed diets containing ${\omega}-3$ PUFA sources increased compared to that of the control. The level of longer chain ${\omega}-3$ PUFAs, such as C20:5 ${\omega}3$ and C22:6 ${\omega}3$ in the PM+FS+FO group, was much higher than that of the others. The addition of local ingredients, such as perilla meal with conventional sources, could be used to obtain value-enhanced meat by enhancing ${\omega}-3$ PUFA.

  • An ${\omega}-3$ fatty acid desaturase gene which is involved in de novo synthesis of -Iinolenate was isolated from cDNA library of Perilla frutescens. A cDNA library was constructed with mRNA extracted from perilla seeds of 12 DAF. The cDNA clone consisting of 1317-bp open reading frame encoding 438 amino acids with a relative MW of 50kDa, was isolated and showed 65-83% similarities to other known genes. This cDNA is deduced to encode a plastidal ${\omega}-3$ fatty acid desaturase based on the fact that it has higher homology to plastidal ones than to microsomal ones and its N-terminal sequence shares several characteristics of transit peptides of chloroplast proteins. Southern blot analysis of genomic DNA indicated that more than one gene or alleles for ${\omega}-3$ fatty acid desaturase are present in the genome of perilla. Northern blot analysis showed that the ${\omega}-3$ fatty acid desaturase gene is mainly revealed in early developing seeds and has different expression patterns depending on tissue types compared to the microsomal ones.

  • The inhibitory effect of omega-3 such as linolenic acid (LNA), docosahexaenoic acid (DNA) and eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA) on the growth of normal cell lines and cancer cell lines was evaluated by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyItetrazolium bromide (MTT) and 2,3-bis-2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl]-2H-tetrazolium-5-caboxanilide (XTT) methods. LNA was found to decrease the cell viability of human oral epithelioid carcinoma cells (KB) in the MTT assay, whereas EPA appeared to inhibit the cell adhesion activity of human skin melanoma cells (SK-MEL-3) in the XTT assay analysis. DPPH radical scavenging activity was examined on LNA, DHA and EPA at the concentration of 100 ${\mu}M$, where they showed about 53% scavenging activity. These results suggest that omega-3 unsaturated fatty acid has a potential anticancer activity.

  • In this paper, we investigate the fractional p&q-Kirchhoff type system $$\{M_1([u]^p_{s,p})(-{\Delta})^s_pu+V_1(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{p-2}u\\{\hfill{10}}={\ell}k^{-1}F_u(x,\;u,\;v)+{\lambda}{\alpha}(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{m-2}u,\;x{\in}{\Omega}\\M_2([u]^q_{s,q})(-{\Delta})^s_qv+V_2(x){\mid}v{\mid}^{q-2}v\\{\hfill{10}}={\ell}k^{-1}F_v(x,u,v)+{\mu}{\alpha}(x){\mid}v{\mid}^{m-2}v,\;x{\in}{\Omega},\\u=v=0,\;x{\in}{\partial}{\Omega},$$ where ${\Omega}{\subset}{\mathbb{R}}^N$ is an unbounded domain with smooth boundary ${\partial}{\Omega}$, and $0<s<1<p{\leq}q$ and sq < N, ${\lambda},{\mu}>0$, $1<m{\leq}k<p^*_s$, ${\ell}{\in}R$, while $[u]^t_{s,t}$ denotes the Gagliardo semi-norm given in (1.2) below. $V_1(x)$, $V_2(x)$, $a(x):{\mathbb{R}}^N{\rightarrow}(0,\;{\infty})$ are three positive weights, $M_1$, $M_2$ are continuous and positive functions in ${\mathbb{R}}^+$. Using variational methods, we prove existence of infinitely many high-energy solutions for the above system.

  • In this study, we evaluated the dietary fatty-acid pattern and serum fatty-acid composition of middle school students (total, 355 ; male, 182 ; female, 173), who are vulnerable to excessive and unbalanced food intakes such as fatty acids and energy. In serum lipid levels, total Chol (p<0.05) and HDL-Chol (p<0.001) levels of female students were significantly higher than those of mal, students. The average fat intake was 23-26 energy % which falls in with the current recommendation level (15-25%) for adults. Although the average P/M/S ratio of dietary fat was 1.1/1.2/1.0 which approaches the recommended ratio, the average range of $\omega$6/$\omega$3 fatty acid ratio of dietary fat was found to be 12.0-16.5, which is higher than the presently recommended range of 4 -10. Some of the very high values found in this study were partly explained by the fact that the range of individual variation of $\omega$6/$\omega$3 ratios was very large. Mean daily intake of Chol was 357-361 mg. The n3 fatty acid intake of middle school students was higher in the LFHM (high fish low meat) group than in the LFHM (low fish high meat) group. EPA and DHA intakes appeared to be significantly higher (p<0.01) in the HFLM group than in the LFHM group as expected. Dietary total $\omega$3 fatty acids (p<0.05) and EPA (p<0.01) were also negatively associated with serum AA($\omega$6) levels. Interestingly, energy intakes and dietary SEAs such as 12 : 0 (p<0.05), 14 : 0 (p<0.01) and 16 : 0 (p<0.05) were negatively associated with serum AA ($\omega$6) levels. To lower the $\omega$6/$\omega$3 ratio of dietary fatty acids for children, frequent consumption of $\omega$3 series fatty-acid rich foods such as soy bean, bean products and fish is recommended. Detailed guidelines should be developed in recommending balanced food intake and qualitative fat intake for Korean adolescents taking heterogeneous groups into consideration. In accurately evaluating fatty acid intake, it is also necessary to have the fatty acid composition data of all foods consumed in each country.
