In this study, dynamic optimal design far a two degree-of-freedom anthropomorphic robot module is performed. Several dynamic design indices associated with the inertia matrix and the inertia power array are introduced. Analysis for the relationship between the dynamic parameters and the design indices shows that trade-offs exist between the isotropy and the dynamic design indices related to the actuator size. A composite design index is employed to deal with multi-criteria based design with different weighting factors, in a systematic manner. We demonstrate the fact that dynamic optimization is another significant step to enhance the system performances, followed by kinematic optimization.

This paper presents the analysis fur the radial vibration characteristics of cylindrical piezoelectric transducers. Taking into account the piezoelectric anisotropy, the differential equations of piezoelectric radial motion have been derived in terms of radial displacement and electric potential. Applying mechanical and electric boundary conditions has yielded a characteristic equation for radial vibration. Numerical analysis also has been carried out by using the finite element method. Theoretical calculations of the fundamental natural frequency have been compared with the experimental observations for transducers of several sizes. Comparison with the previous report of theoretical analysis simplifying the piezoelectric anisotropy into isotropy concludes that isotropic analysis is a reasonable process to predict the vibration characteristics of piezoelectric transducers.

Research about spherical shells been applying most usually is achieved by many investigators already and generalized equation has been derived. But, existent research is limited in case that spherical shell's roof rigidity is isotropy or orthotropy, and research that consider periodicity of rigidity-distribution that can happen by doing spherical shell's roof system by lattice system is not gone entirely. The purpose of this paper is applying Galerkin method to spherical shell that model periodicity of roof rigidity distribution that appear by roof lattice form of large space structure and develop structural analysis program that formularize. Rigidity-model of this research selects that of spherical shell which has 2-way grid. In this paper, buckling-strength and deformation distribution of isotopic spherical shell and 2-way grid spherical shell obtained by developed program could confirm the reliability by comparison with result of existent research.

The high precision of the products manufatured by press forming requires the high stiffness of press machines. In this study, the C-frame type press is analyzed to provide the basic idea on the C-frame press design, especially on the frame design. The finite element method is applied for the analysis and the isotropic propertics of the frame material is also considered. The results are summarized in terms of stresses and displacement distributions. Also, the openback angle of the presses is compared with two different models. The CS-150 and ECS-150 models, which are presses model having 150 ton frame capacity relatively and produced by SSangYong precision Co. LTD, are applied for the analysis.
The conventional geometry of a plate microstrip resonator is made up of a single metallic patch, which is printed on a monolayer dielectric substrate. Its arrangement is simple and easy to make, but it is limited in its functional abilities. Many searches have been realized to improve the bandwidth and the gain of the microstrip resonators. Among the various configurations proposed in the open literature, the stacked geometry seems to be very promising. By appropriate design, it is able to provide the operation in dual frequency mode, wide bandwidth enough and high gain. The theoretical investigations of structures composed of two stacked anti-reflection coatings, enhanced metallic coatings are available in the literature, however, for the stacked configurations involving three metallic coatings or more, not to exact or approximate analysis was conducted due to the complexity of the structure.

In the proposed research plan, the effects of anisotropic and time-dependent mechanical properties on nanoindentation measurements of osteonic lamellae in a human cortical bone are investigated. The most popular method(Oliver-Pharr method) in nanoindentation data analysis is based on the assumption of elastic isotropy. Since cortical bone has exhibited anisotropy, it is necessary to consider the effects of anisotropy on nanoindentation measurement for cortical bone. By comparison with the contact area obtained from monitoring the contact profile in FEA simulations, the Oliver-Pharr method was found to underpredict or overpredict the contact area due to effects of anisotropy. The mount of error depended on the indentation orientation. The indentation modulus results and were also similar to moduli calculated from mathematical model. The Oliver-Pharr method has been shown to be useful for providing first order approximations in analysis of anisotropic mechanical properties of cortical bone, although the indentation modulus is influenced by anisotropy.

This dissertation presents an exact solution for the shearing and normal stresses of an orthotropic plane body loaded by a pairtial-uniform shear load. The solution satisfies the equilibrium and compatibility equations concurrently. An Airy stress function is introduced to solve the problem related to an orthotropic half-infinite plane under a partial-uniform shear load. All the equations for orthotropy must be degenerated into the expressions for isotropy when orthotropic constants are replaced by isotropic ones. The author has evaluated all the equations of orthotropy and succeeded in obtaining exactly identical expressions to the equations of isotropy which were derived independently by means of L'hospital's rule. The analytical results of, isotropy ate compared with the simple results of other investigator. Since a concentrated shear load is a particular case of partial-uniform shear load, all the equations of partial-uniform shear load case are degenerated into the expressions for concentrated load case of isotropy and orthotropy. The formal solution is expressed in terms of closed form. The numerical results for orthotropy are evaluated for two kinds and two different orientations of the grain of wood. The type of wood considered are three-layered plywood and laminated delta wood. The distribution of normal and shearing stresses are shown in figures. It is noted that the distribution of stresses of orthctropic materials dependson the type of materials and orientations of the grain.

Theoretical mechanics analysis and finite element simulation were performed to investigate creep deformation behavior at the crack tip of transversely isotropic materials under small scale creep (SCC) conditions. Mechanical behavior of material was assumed as an elastic-$2^{nd}$ creep, which elastic modulus ( E ), Poisson's ratio ( ${\nu}$ ) and creep stress exponent ( n ) were isotropic and creep coefficient was only transversely isotropic. Based on the mechanics analysis for material behavior, a constitutive equation for transversely isotropic creep behavior was formulated and an equivalent creep coefficient was proposed under plain strain conditions. Creep deformation behavior at the crack tip was investigated through the finite element analysis. The results of the finite element analysis showed that creep deformation in transversely isotropic materials is dominant at the rear of the crack-tip. This result was more obvious when a load was applied to principal axis of anisotropy. Based on the results of the mechanics analysis and the finite element simulation, a corrected estimation scheme of the creep zone size was proposed in order to evaluate the creep deformation behavior at the crack tip of transversely isotropic creeping materials.
A theoretical study is presented for the prediction of the scattering of obliquely incident plane acoustic wave by transversely isotropic cylindrical shells immersed in water. In dorder to illustrate the vailidity of the theory backscattering form functions are compared with the existing results for degenerated problems: the catterings by isotropic shell and transversely isotropic solid cylinder. The unidirectional fiber reinforced boron-aluminum composites are selected as a model of transversely isotropic materials having potential applications in practice. From the resonant scattering analysis of the partial backscattering form functions, the dispersion curves for fluid-borne Stoneley wave, guided wave along the shell, and the lowest three Lamb type waves can be found. The Lamb type dispersions are compared with those of the flat plate. The variation of anisotropy significantly affects the properties of circumferential waves. From these results, it can be possible to identify parametrically the material properties of anisotropic cylindrical targets.

In this paper, input-output velocity transmission characteristics of the Casing Oscillator, which is a constructional machine with 4 degree of freedom are examined. After the Jacobian matrix is decomposed into linear part and angular part, the linear and the angular velocity transmission characteristics are analyzed and visualized in easy way even in the case of 3 dimensional task space with 4 variables. Regarding the measure of dexterity of the Casing Oscillator, the kinematic isotropic index and the manipulability measures which are respectively represented the isotropy and the volume of the manipulability ellipsoid are combined. A performance of the Casing Oscillator is evaluated by the combined manipulability measure.
