  • An integrated waveguide optical isolator by wafer direct bonding has been studied. The isolation ratio was found to be 2.9dB in our device. We found that wafer direct bonding between the InP and GGG is effective for the integration of a waveguide optical isolator.

  • Parametric study on the lever type dynamic anti-resonance vibration isolator (DAVI) is executed to introduce the system in the path of vibration transmission for the vibratory response attenuation. The effects of inertia and location of the lever on the system performances are investigated using FEA. The effects of other parameters such as ratio of lever lengths, ratio of masses and the location of pivot are studied with analytical approach. According to the results, all the parameters except lever location affect the system response in their own ways. Consequently, the optimal lever type DAVI for translational or rotational system can be efficiently designed by selecting system parameters using the procedure introduced in this study.

  • 광 집적회로를 구현하기 위한 목적의 구성요소들로서 자기 광학적 효과를 이용한 아이솔레이터(isolator), 서큘레이터(circulator)등과 같은 소자들의 새로운 대안이 제시되고 있다. 현재 기존의 체적 아이솔레이터(bulk isolator)들이 마이크로 시스템에서 사용되고는 있으나 실용적인 해결점은 아닐 것이다. gyrotropic 도파로들의 광학적 TM 모드의 비가역적 위상변위(nonreciprocal phase shift)를 이용하는 경우 반도체 레이저를 광원으로 이용할 때 반사되어져 오는 광으로부터 레이저를 보호할 수 있는 광 아이솔레이터의 구현이 가능할 수 있다. 광통신에 사용되는 파장은 1.3$\mu$m 와 $1.5\mu$m에서 발달되어져 있다.   • As environmental vibration requirements on precision equipment become more stringent, use of pneumatic isolators has become more popular and their performance is subsequently required to be further improved. Performance of passive pneumatic isolators is related to various design parameters in a complicated manner and, hence, is very limited especially in low frequency range by chamber volume. In this study, transmissibility behavior of the pneumatic isolators depending on frequency and dynamic amplitude are presented. Then, an active control technique, time delay control, which is adequate for a low frequency nonlinear system, is applied. A procedure of applying the time delay control law to a pneumatic isolator is presented and it's effectiveness in the transmissibility performance is shown. Comparison between passive and active pneumatic isolators is made based on simulation.

  • Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control(DDSC) for a class of nonlinear system interconnected via sensor network is presented in this paper. While a centralized design approach of DSC was developed in [1], the decentralized approach to deal with complex large-scale systems is proposed under the assumption that interconnected functions among subsystems are known via sensor network. As shown in [2], the separation principle for DDSC will allow us to design an estimation filter independently. Furthermore, the theoretical results are used to design and simulate an active vibration isolator under the assumption that many embedded sensors are distributed and communicate each other via wireless communication.

  • The dynamic behavior of the rectangular liquid storage structure is known to be greatly influenced by fluid-structure interaction. By mounting the liquid storage structure on the properly designed base isolators, dynamic response of the superstructure can be reduced. However, base isolators inevitably incur large displacement of the structure to the ground ·ind may give adverse effects on the sloshing height. This paper presents the analysis method for fluid-structure-isolator interaction in base-isolated rectangular liquid storage structures. In the method, the irrotational motion of invicid and incompressible ideal fluid is expressed by analytic solutions and the superstructure and isolators are properly modeled by finite element and bilinear model. Free surface sloshing motion, hydrodynamic pressure acting on the wall and structural response are obtained by the presented method.

분산이 적은 광 아이솔레이터에 관한 연구 (A study on the dispersion-free optical isolator)

  • 분산이 적은 새로운 형태의 광 아이솔레이터 광학계를 제안하였으며, 이의 성능을 이론 및 실험적으로 검증하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 광 아이솔레이터의 광학계는 2개의 쐐기 형상의 복굴절 소자와 패러데이 회전자, COLLIMATING UNIT, FOCUSING UNIT로 이루어졌다. 파장 1550 nm에서 성능시험 결과 아이솔레이션 40 dB 이상, 상입손실 0.55 dB 이하, 분산 0.02 ps 이하의 결과를 얻었다.

  • The vibration isolator system(VIS) which has very low natural frequency could be designed by applying an axial compressive force to the beam-column flexure(BCF). In this paper a new shape of the BCF is suggested. It has stepwise axially varying properties by viscoelastic damping layer. So it has internal structural damping by damping layer during deformation. First the analytic solution is obtained for the BCF. And its critical load, buckling mode, stiffness and stress distributions are investigated. Also the dynamic properties of the VIS consist of the damping layered BCF are studied. Finally the optimal design procedure of damping layered BCF for the VIS is suggested. The improved performance of suggested VIS is verified by some experiments.

Variations in the hysteretic behavior of LRBs as a function of applied loading

  • The study presented herein focused on the change in hysteretic force-deformation behavior of lead rubber bearings (LRBs). The material model used to idealize response of LRBs under cyclic motion is capable of representing the gradual attrition in strength of isolator unit on account of lead core heating. To identify the effect of loading history on the hysteretic response of LRBs, a typical isolator unit is subjected to cyclic motions with different velocity, amplitude and number of cycles. Furthermore, performance of an LRB isolated single degree of freedom system is studied under different seismic input levels. Finally, the significance of lead core heating effect on LRBs is discussed by considering the current design approach for base isolated structures. Results of this study show that the response of an LRB is governed strongly by the amplitude and number of cycles of the motion and the considered seismicity level.

  • The Line-Of-Sight stabilization system is designed to minimize the error of Line-Of-Sight under the disturbing circumstances. In order to control this system more accurately and reduce the level of the disturbance, adding an isolator is mostly considered. However, it is difficult to predict the exact the behavior of the isolator and the effect of a stabilization Error. Therefore, the simulation model of the control system using co-simulation with Adams and matlab simulink is presented and the effects of the isolation properties are reviewed.
