In this paper, a proper support tuning method is established by identifying the dynamic characteristics of the machine, the floor. and the inertia force. Also, the limitation of a passive isolation is presented. To simplify the dynamic analysis and to establish a proper design method for supporting system, each of the machine and the floor is modeled as a single degree of freedom spring-mass-damper system under careful investigation of the dynamic characteristics of each system and appropriate assumptions. Then, the dynamic behavior of a 2DOF system and the effect of the mass and the damping are investigated. Also, the characteristics of motion profiles are investigated. In addition, a quasi-static analysis on the transmitted force through support is performed and related tests are performed.
In these days, The base isolation system is often used to improve the seismic capacity of the structures instead of conventional techniques of strengthening the structural members. The purpose of this study is to evaluate dynamic property evaluation of control equipment using lead Lead Rubber Bearing. In this study, a base isolation test of seismic monitoring control cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was performed. The cabinet will be installed on access floor in MCR(main control room) of nuclear power plant. Details and dynamic characteristics of the access floor were considered in the construction of testing specimen. N-S component of El Centre earthquake was used as seismic input motion. Acceleration response spectrums in the top of cabinets showed that the first mode frequency of cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was shifted to 7.5 Hz in compared with 18Hz of cabinet without LRB and the maximum peak acceleration was reduced in a degree of22 percent from 2.35 g to 1.84 g
This paper describes design features of a cleaning robot for use in a radioactive zone of the Isolation room of the Irradiated Material Examination Facility (IMEF) at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). This cleaning robot is intended to completely eliminate human interaction with hazardous radioactive contaminants. The clean ing robot that is operated either by manual mode or by autonomous mode is designed to be capable of cleaning the isolation room´s floor surface and collecting dry nuclear fuel debris and other radioactive waste placed on the floor. The functional, mechanical and electrical design considerations of the cleaning robot in terms of remote cleanup operation and remote maintenance at a radioactive environment are presented. A graphical representation of the cleaning ...
This paper presents experimental performance evaluation of a magnetorheological (MR) damper for integrated isolation mount for ultra-precision manufacturing system. The vibration sources of the ultra-precision manufacturing system can be classified as follows: the one is the environmental vibration from the floor and the other is the transient vibration occurred from stage moving. The transient vibration occurred from the stage moving has serious adverse effect to the process because the vibration scale is quite larger than other vibrations. Therefore in this research, a semi-active MR damper, which can control the transient vibration, is adopted. Also the stage needs to be isolated from tiny vibrations from the floor. For this purpose, a dry-frictionless MR damper is required. In order to achieve this goal, a novel type of MR damper is originally designed and manufactured in this work. Subsequently, the damping force characteristics of MR damper are evaluated by simulation and experiment. In addition, the vibration control performance of the MR damper associated with the stage mass is evaluated.

A vibration isolation system fur a large reverberation chamber (1,228㎥, 1,000ton) has been installed. The reverberation chamber generates loud noise and induces high level of vibration to perform spacecraft acoustic environmental tests. The isolation system prevents vibration transfer from the chamber to enclosure buildings. This paper describes logical design process and commissioning experiments of the system. Design criteria have been induced from rigid body model of the chamber. Finite element model has been employed to select the characteristics of rubber pads. A total of 21 rubber pads have been installed between the chamber and supporting pedestals. A sand bag of 800kg was dropped on the chamber floor to measure the natural frequency of the isolation system. Absolute transmissibility has been measured while generating 145㏈ in the chamber. The natural frequency of the chamber is 10.5㎐, which is 80% of estimated value. Overall transmissibility at working frequency range (25㎐-10,000㎐) is less than -6㏈.
In order to investigate characteristics of floor impact sound generated in the apartment buildings, questionnaire survey was conducted for respondents living in apartments in 200t. Questions in the surrey were on the characteristics of real impact sounds, subjective annoyance and satisfaction on the heavy and light impact sources. From the survey results, it was found that most annoying time of a day and the space were 8 p.m. to midnight at living room. It was also revealed that the main source of the floor impact sound from the upper floor is a child's jumping and running at from six to nine. More than half of people were not satisfied on the floor impact isolation performance of their own apartments. The percentage of residents who were annoyed by the heavy-weight impact sound such as children's jumping and adult's walking was $5{\sim}10%$ lower than by light-weight impact sound. In addition, females being responded more annoyed by floor impact sound than males.
The impact sounds, generated by the walking of people, the dropping of an object or the moving of furniture, can be a source of great annoyance in residential buildings. The characteristics and level of this impact noise depends on the object striking the floor, on the basic structure of the floor, and on the finish materials of floor. The focus of this paper is to investigate the amount of improvement impact sound pressure level according to the change of the composition method of ceiling and wall. For this purpose, we tested impact sound pressure level of several cases which is the inserting of mineral wool, the increase of the thickness of air layer, the using of anti-vibration rubber in ceiling and attach the mineral wool on wall in the Floor Impact Sound Test Building of KICT. The results show that the composition method of ceiling and wall is more effective in the reduction of light weight impact sound specially in 125Hz and 250Hz.
As a result of supply-oriented housing policy of Korea since the 1960s, the number of apartment housing units has increased up to six million as of the end of 2001 that is 55% of total housing units. Although the needs of placid living environment increases according to the enhancement of residents' living standard, most of construction firms as apartment suppliers plan and design apartment buildings to maximize the profit and give rise the residents' petitions and troubles about floor impact noise. In consequence, the floor impact noise becomes one of principal problems of living environment, and the government placed the obligation of installing the noise isolation materials between upper and lower floors in 2001 and controlling the floor impact noise lower than 60dB from the middle of 2004. In other to provide the fundamental research data to enhance the reduction performance of floor impact sound, in this paper, the factors that influence on the floor impact noise are derived from the survey of many research papers and the performance of various materials used as noise reduction objects are compared and surveyed with the factors in the experiments in field and laboratory.
A floating floor generally consists of mortar bed separated from the structural RC slab by a continuous resilient layer. It is known that the floating floors are a type of vibration-isolation system to improve the impact sound insulation performance. However, some researchers have demonstrated that the amplification of vibration response at a specific range of frequencies results in an increase in the impact sound level. This study carried out the forced vibration tests to obtain the frequency response function (FRF) of a floating floor compared with a bare RC slab. Test results shows that the additional peak occur in vibrational spectrum of the floating floor except natural vibration modes of the bare RC slab. This is because the relatively flexible resilient material and mass of the mortar bed offer an additional degree of freedom in the structural system. Therefore, it could be efficient for reduction of floor impact vibration and noise to control the additional mode frequency and response of floating floors.
