The X-ray unit developed by this study is to diagnose emergency cases which is too far from a hospital and to classify the patients. We have to use the X-ray in a ambulance or the scene of an accident where we cannot use the AC220 outlet because of the distance from a hospital as well. The X-ray unit developed has a characteristics as follows. First of all, as the unit has a condenser in itself where there is no electric supply, we can use the X-ray inspector in a mountain area or a island. Second, we can detect by digital detector the information taken by X-ray from DC 12[V] electricity and store as a form of file. A control circuit can secure the reliability of the X-ray unit by using the Pic16F84A X-ray and provide various functions. The X-ray unit which suits remote emergency system can be efficiently used for the emergent cases who is too far from a doctor and a hospital or in the situation where it is difficult to diagnose, transcribe and treat simultaneously.

The land use in suburban area has been changed rapidly due to the urban expansion in Korea during the last few decades. And such land use changes result in various environmental problems such as biodiversity decrease, habitat fragmentation, air pollution and urban heat island. Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) can be used for land cover change detection to understand the impact and trend of the land use change. Change detection is the process of identifying differences in the state of an object or phenomenon by observing it at different times and it can provide quantitative and comparative information for the land use/cover change. RS is less expansive than field survey for producing land use maps, and can be accessed quickly and repetitively for large area. Also it can be used for change detection using multi-temporal land use/cover by accumulated data. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to detect and quantitatively evaluate urban land cover change in urban stream watershed area for the last few decades and ultimately to provide the basic data for urban land use planning and management.

The Wairarapa Valley occupies a predominantly rural area in the lower North Island of New Zealand. It supports a mix of intensive farming (dairy), dry stock farming (sheep and beef cattle) and horticulture (including wine grapes). The valley floor is traversed by the Ruamahanga River, the largest river in the Wellington region with a total catchment area of 3,430 km2. Environmental, cultural and recreational values associated with this Ruamahanga River are very high. The alluvial gravel and sand aquifers of the Wairarapa Valley, support productive groundwater aquifers at depths of up to 100 metres below ground while the Ruamahanga River and its tributaries present a further source of water for users. Water is allocated to users via resource consents by Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC). With intensifying land use, demand from the surface and groundwater resources of the Wairarapa Valley has increased substantially in recent times and careful management is needed to ensure values are maintained. This paper describes the approach being taken to manage water resources in the Wairarapa Valley and redefine appropriate limits of sustainable water use. There are three key parts: Quantifying the groundwater resource. A FEFLOW numerical groundwater flow model was developed by GWRC. This modelling phase provided a much improved understanding of aquifer recharge and abstraction processes. It also began to reveal the extent of hydraulic connection between aquifer and river systems and the importance of moving towards an integrated (conjunctive) approach to allocating water. Development of a conjunctive management framework. The FEFLOW model was used to quantify the stream flow depletion impacts of a range of groundwater abstraction scenarios. From this, three abstraction categories (A, B and C) that describe diminishing degrees of hydraulic connection between ground and surface water resources were mapped in 3 dimensions across the Valley. Interim allocation limits have been defined for each of 17 discrete management units within the valley based on both local scale aquifer recharge and stream flow depletion criteria but also cumulative impacts at the valley-wide scale. These allocation limits are to be further refined into agreed final limits through a community-led decision making process. Community involvement in the limit setting process. Historically in New Zealand, limits for sustainable resource use have been established primarily on the basis of 'hard science' and the decision making process has been driven by regional councils. Community involvement in limit setting processes has been through consultation rather than active participation. Recent legislation in the form of a National Policy Statement on Freshwater Management (2011) is reforming this approach. In particular, collaborative consensus-based decision making with active engagement from stakeholders is now expected. With this in mind, a committee of Wairarapa local people with a wide range of backgrounds was established in 2014. The role of this committee is to make final recommendations about resource use limits (including allocation of water) that reflect the aspirations of the communities they represent. To assist the committee in taking a holistic view it is intended that the existing numerical groundwater flow models will be coupled with with surface flow, contaminant transport, biological and economic models. This will provide the basis for assessing the likely outcomes of a range of future land use and resource limit scenarios.
Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito-transmitted, emerging Flavivirus that causes Guillain-$Barr{\acute{e}}$ syndrome and microcephaly in adults and fetuses, respectively. Since ZIKV was first isolated in 1947, severe outbreaks have occurred at various places worldwide, including Yap Island in 2007, French Polynesia in 2013, and Brazil in 2015. Although incidences of ZIKV infection and dissemination have drastically increased, the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of ZIKV have not been sufficiently studied. In addition, despite extensive research, the exact roles of individual ZIKV genes in the viral evasion of the host innate immune responses remain elusive. Besides, it is still possible that more than one ZIKV-encoded protein may negatively affect type I interferon (IFN) induction. Hence, in this study, we aimed to determine the modulations of the IFN promoter activity, induced by the MDA5/RIG-I signaling pathway, by over-expressing individual ZIKV genes. Our results show that two nonstructural proteins, NS2A and NS4A, significantly down-regulated the promoter activity of IFN-${\beta}$ by inhibiting multiple signaling molecules involved in the activation of IFN-${\beta}$. Interestingly, while NS2A suppressed both full-length and constitutively active RIG-I, NS4A had inhibitory activity only on full-length RIG-I. In addition, while NS2A inhibited all forms of IRF3 (full-length, regulatory domain-deficient, and constitutively active), NS4A could not inhibit constitutively active IRF3-5D. Taken together, our results showed that NS2A and NS4A play major roles as antagonists of MDA5/RIG-I-mediated IFN-${\beta}$ induction and more importantly, these two viral proteins seem to inhibit induction of the type I IFN responses in differential mechanisms. We believe this study expands our understanding regarding the mechanisms via which ZIKV controls the innate immune responses in cells and may pave the way to development of ZIKV-specific therapeutics.
$Iso{\ddot{e}}tes$ L. ($Iso{\ddot{e}}taceae$) is difficult to identify among the infrageneric taxa because of morphological simplicity. Since two species (I. japonica and I. coreana) had been reported, I. jejuensis and I. hallasanensis were described as two new species from Jeju Island, South Korea. The habitats of all species were confirmed by current studies except for I. japonica. We compared the morphological and anatomical characters of seven species, three domestic species and four species in adjacent regions (I. taiwanensis, I. sinensis, I. japonica, and I. asiatica). I. asiatica differs from other species in the lobe number of corm, spreading sporophylls, lack of stomata and degree of velum development. All of the seven species were identified by the characteristics of their mega- and microspores. Especially, it was possible to identify the four species in South Korea by the types of ornamentation on their megaspores. Each species has a specific type of megaspore ornamentation: I. coreana - cristate, I. jejuensis - rugulate, I. hallasanensis - echinate, and I. japonica - reticulate. We also discussed the phylogeny of the genus in East Asia in relation to recent studies based on the second intron of LEAFY sequence and amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis. We suggest strategies for the conservation of the endangered $Iso{\ddot{e}}tes$ species in South Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the previous research on geological fieldwork from 2000 to 2020, examine the tasks that have been focused on, and suggest directions and implications for future geological fieldwork research. The data was conducted for the thesis searched on ScienceON and RISS in relation to geological fieldwork and journals listed in the Korean Citation Index(KCI), and the study title was analyzed using the semantic network analysis. For analysis, the data that had been pre-processed was visualized as a network by semantic network analysis, and frequency and centrality were analyzed. The centrality analysis was based on degree centrality and eigenvector centrality, and all analyzes were performed by dividing the entire study period into four periods: 2000-2005, 2006-2010, 2011-2015, and 2016-2020. As a result, research on geological fieldwork focused more on the development of geological field courses, and in particular, jeju island was actively discussed as a learning site. Also, the study was conducted on students rather than teachers, and among them, high school students showed high frequency and centrality. In addition, it can be seen that studies on the educational effect of geological fieldwork were discussed, either in connection with programs such as STEAM, free-semester program, or indirect geological fieldwork methods such as web, flash panorama, and 3D. This study is meaningful in that it suggests the direction of future research by looking back on the research on geological fieldwork that has been done so far.
The purpose of this study is to develop geochemical tracers to identify a specific source desert of mineral dust in China using the published data. In addition, we tested the applicability of these tracers to wet-deposits and soil samples collected in Jeju, Korea. Because of similarity in trace elemental compositions of mineral dust from the major arid regions in China, such as Taklimakan, West Ordos (Badain Jaran), East Ordos (Mu Us and Hobq), East Northern China (Horqin), West Northern China (Gurbantunggut), and Chinese Loess Plateau, there has been limited to the use of geochemical data for source identification. Here we propose the four (4) plots using combination of seven (7) geochemical variables as a source indicator to distinguish one from other source regions in China: $\frac{Y}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Th}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\(\frac{La}{Gd}\)_N$ vs. $\frac{Y}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Y}{Nd_N}$, and $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\(\frac{Ce}{Ce}\)_N^*$, where $_N$ and $\(\frac{Ce}{Ce}\)_N^*$ stand for values normalized to Post-Archean Average Shale composition and Ce anomaly, respectively. Mineral dusts from aforementioned six major deserts are distinguished one from the others by the combined use of these variables. Jeju rock and soil samples form a separate domain from Chinese mineral dusts in all four plots. In contrast, most of Jeju dust samples were comparable with the West Ordos desert (Badain Jaran) domain, indicative of strong influence of Badain Jaran dust in Jeju in spring season when the mineral dust was collected. A weak positive Ce anomaly in Jeju samples implies minimal local contribution. Our study suggests that the combination of $\frac{Y}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Th}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\(\frac{La}{Gd}\)_N$ vs. $\frac{Y}{{\Sigma}REE_N}$, $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\frac{Y}{Nd_N}$, and $\frac{Th}{Tb_N}$ vs. $\(\frac{Ce}{Ce}\)_N^*$ can be used to identify a specific source region of mineral dust in China as well as Jeju mineral particles.

A larger energy consumption and concentration of population induced green house gas glowing and heat island effect in the urban space. Roof green system was a effect method to reduce green house gas and heat concentration in the city. Therefore, construction of this system was increasing. Most of lightweight soil used in roof green system was perlite, but this caused dust and skin disease. So it needed to develop another new lightweight soli for roof green system. Meanwhile, a thermoelectric power plant generated bottom ash as a by-product. According to previous research, bottom ash could be used for artificial lightweight soil with 60 wt% of mixing rate. But this study was proceed to develop a artificial lightweight soil using bottom ash with higher mixing rate by 65 wt% and different organic ingredients. First, physical and chemical properties of bottom ash was investigated. Then test according to landscaping design standard was proceeded for various artificial lightweight soil mix types using bottom ash, bark, compost and coco peat. As a result, the artificial lightweight soil with 65% of bottom ash, 30% of bark and 5% of compost was suitable for low and middle range of soil standard.

This study is to develop a GSTM (Green infrastructure Surface Temperature Measurment) equipment for reducing the surface temperature of GI by using LID Method. The tests were conducted including GI products such as Greening block, Pervious Block, Soil Block and so on. The GSTM equipment developed by considering the literature surveys are characterized as follows. The non-contact infrared temperature sensor was used to measure the surface temperature, and it was improved to measure the overall average temperature including the center and the corner temperature of the specimen. The developed GSTM equipment was used to compare performance of asphalt and GI products. As a result, the Greening Block show a high difference of $18.4^{\circ}C$ and it contributes to the decrease of surface temperature.

The fruit and stem of Opuntia ficus-indica var. aboten (OFS), a native plant of Jeju Island, are considered a safe food source. Moreover, stem extracts have been previously reported to possess a variety of biological effects (e.g. anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, including the ability to partially ameliorate cognitive impairment), suggesting that this plant may have utility as a functional food. The present study investigated whether fermentation by lactic acid bacteria enhances the biological effects of OFS extracts. The acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity of fermented or non-fermented OFS extracts was evaluated, and the content of marker components dihydrokaempferol (DHK) and quercetin-3-methyl ether (3-MeQ) was analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography. Fermented (relative to non-fermented) OFS extracts exhibited improved AChE inhibitory activity ($IC_{50}=28.35 mg/mL$), with AChE inhibitory activity resulting from fermentation by L. plantarum ($IC_{50}=12.56mg/mL$) exceeding that resulting from fermentation by L. fermentum ($IC_{50}=17.71mg/mL$). Furthermore, fermented (relative to non-fermented) OFS extracts exhibited a 16.7 % increase in DHK content, and 3-MeQ content of OFS extracts fermented by L. plantarum and L. fermentum increased by 28.6 % and 21.4 %, respectively. Therefore, OFS stem extract AChE inhibitory activity, as well as DHK and 3-MeQ content, was enhanced by fermentation with Lactobacillus spp. This suggests that fermented OFS extracts may contribute to prevention or improvement of cognitive impairment. These data are anticipated to be useful in the development of enhanced-efficacy OFS products.
