Last twenty years since the introduction of library science as a new scholarship to Korea are considered as a period of imitation and wander. We are supposed to try relevant changes in library education to settle it down and to keep up with world trends in Korea. This paper discusses development and status quo of curricula in foreign countries and tries to show a guide for the library science field in Korea. The writer makes recommendations for the improvement of curricula for Korean library schools.

Many methods have been proposed for achieving optimum performance of structures subjected to earthquake excitation. The conventional approach requires that structures passively resist earthquakes through a combination of strength, deformability, and energy absorption. Base isolation is a technique for mitigating the effects of earthquakes on structures through the introduction of flexibility and energy absorption capability. In this paper, a parametric study of effectiveness of isolation systems with various main structures' properties is carried out through the response spectrum analysis. It is shown that, most base isolators with its longer period and higher damping can significantly reduce the base shear force transmitted to the structures.

Costume is a formative art expressed by active human unlike the field of other living formativeness, and an expression of social actions based on a style of culture in a period. Therefore, costume has a deep connection with a mode of living and is recognized as a 'culture for living', and is more characteristic culture than all metaphysical cultures including architecture, craft, painting, and sculpture. Therefore, it expresses wearer's status or social standing, and furthermore, ideas and values of the times with aesthetic features in their form, color, materials, and pattern, so it is expressed as a mirror reflecting the phases of the times as. Korean costume had been dressed until the period of the Joseon Dynasty without a great change and started to be simplified in a simple style on the grounds of inconvenience in behaviors with the opening of an interchange of Western culture in the civilized period. And, this movement had been continued and Korean costume had been applied as an everyday dress under the name of 'Reformed Korean Costume'. Since the middle phase of 1980s, it aroused many people's interests with the introduction of designs focused on activity and convenience. In 1990's, many people had taken a growing interest in Korean costume with development of various designs keeping pace with the internationalization period and Korean Costume had been revitalized under the name of 'The Modernized Korean Costume'. And, since the 21st century, the advanced communication and full-scaled import of Western fashion have made the introduction of many fashion information in the world into Korea, affected greatly the fashion market, led consumers' sensitivity on a trend to be increased. Therefore, a design accepting a trend 'The Modernized Korean Costume' with fashions has risen. Second, this study is an attempt to suggest a revitalization method of domestic casual Korean costume brands by developing and suggesting competitive and highly value-added products with connection of practicality, variety, and highly sensitive fashion styles. For theoretical study, domestic and foreign literatures, academic journals, professional monthly magazines, and newspapers were examined. And, a process of change and features of the Korean fashion since the civilization period, and concept, features and images of casual Korean costume were analyzed, On the basis of analyzing image, features, and consumers' preference of the modernized Korean costume, a design development plan was established and 10 suits of costume were designed and made.

The purpose of this study is to investigate historical background which uses and characteristics of Korean traditional incense and how to use it in clothes. Incense was at first introduced to Korea in the period of King Nulji of Shilla dynasty. First introduction to this nation, incense was already regarded as divine. It was then developed with five main uses, tribute, fragrance, purification, anti bacteria, and cure. Incense used by fragrance and anti-bacteria in clothes. It make emit a fragrance from the clothes or decorate clothes with ornaments. Incense was also to prevent clothes or books from being damaged by insects and maintain them over a long period. It used one of the factor for beauty of costume.

Purpose - The purpose of this research is to provide insights that can be used for deliberate decision making around challenging big data investments by measuring the economic value of such big data implementations. Research design, data, and methodology - We perform empirical research through an event study. To this end, we measure actual abnormal returns of companies that are triggered by their investment announcements in big data, or firm size information, during the three-year research period. The research period targets a timeframe after the introduction of big data at Korean firms listed on the Korea stock markets. Results - Our empirical findings discover that on the event day and the day after, the abnormal returns are significantly positive. In addition, our further examination of firm size impacts on the abnormal returns does not show any evidence of an effect. Conclusions - Our research suggests that an event study can be useful as an alternative means to measure the return on investment (ROI) for big data in order to lessen the difficulties or decision making around big data investments.

This study was carried out to investigate the introduced household machines during the industrial period and the effect of them on housework. This study utilized the methods of historical research. The major findings of this research were as follows; (1) The method and process of housework was altered dramatically by the introduction and spread of household machines during the industrial period. (2) Household machines made housework more easy and timesaving but they had little effect on the houseworker's total burdens because of the rising standares, the addition of new housework and the return of housework to the home which had bean substituted by the market services.

Stick-slip friction is present to some degree in almost all actuators and mechanisms and is often responsible for performance limitations. Simulation of stick-slip friction is difficult because of strongly nonlinear behavior in the vicinity of zero velocity. A straightforward method for representing and simulating friction effects is presented. True zero velocity sticking is represented without equation reformulation or the introduction of numerical stiffness problems. Stick-slip motion is investigated experimentally, and the fundamental characteristics of the stick-slip motion are clarified. Based on these experimental results, the characteristics of static in the period of stick and kinetic friction in the period of slip are studied concretely so as to clarify the stick-slip process.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of health educational program for maternity using principle of user centered design. Method: Research process includes five distinct phases: needs assessment, analysis, design, development/testing/revision, and application release. Results: This program includes an introduction, pregnancy test and fetal assessment, maternal and fetal change during pregnancy, self-care methods during pregnancy, complication of postpartum period, process of labor, complication of pregnancy, self care during the postpartum period, information for parenting skill, father page, FAQ, helping resources and institutions. Conclusion: The program will be distributed to health centers for maternal health education. The second phase of this project was evaluation this program for further development of the program. The end result of this program will be pregnant women with a high degree of usability. Author believe this program have true potential in helping maternal health promotion and successful parenting.

In the case of a high-valuable asset, the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) phase requires heavy charges and more efforts than the installation (construction) phase, because it has long usage life and any accident of an asset during this period causes catastrophic damage to an industry. Recently, with the advent of emerging Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), we can get the visibility of asset status information during its usage period. It gives us new challenging issues for improving the efficiency of asset operations. One issue is to implement the Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) approach that makes a diagnosis of the asset status based on wire or wireless monitored data, predicts the assets abnormality, and executes suitable maintenance actions such as repair and replacement before serious problems happen. In this study, we have addressed several aspects of CBM approach: definition, related international standards, procedure, and techniques with the introduction of some relevant case studies that we have carried out.

New designed floating breakwater made of Polyethelener with considering the introduction of new material for being harmony with environment and stability of the floater is developed for a marine ranching. Model experiment in order to test its capability is performed for the regular and irregular waves in ocean engineering basin. Good capability to break the incident wave within the 6 second of period and 1 m of height is shown. Breaking efficiency for long period wave is not so good in regular and irregular wave. The results of this study will contribute to the design and construction of the floating breakwater.
