This research was conducted on 176 GVCs-related research papers listed in the Index of Korean Academic Writers. The analysis methodology used the keyword network analysis methodology of big data analysis. For the comprehensive analysis of research trends, the research trends through word frequency (TF), important topic (TF-IDF), and topical modeling were analyzed in 176 papers. In addition, the research period of GVCs was divided into the early stages of the first study (2003-2014), the second phase of the study (2015-2017), and the third phase of the study (2018-2020). According to the comprehensive analysis, the GVCs research was conducted with the keyword 'value added' as the center, focusing on the keywords of export (trade), Korea, business, influence, and production. Major research topics were 'supporting corporate cooperation and capacity building' and 'comparative advantage with added value of overseas direct investment'. According to the analysis of major period-specific research trends, GVCs were studied in the early stages of the first phase of the study with global value chain trends and corporate production strategies. In the second research propulsion period, research was done in terms of trade value added. In the recent third phase of the study, small and medium-sized enterprises actively participated in the global value chain and actively researched ways to support the government. Through this study, the importance of the global value chain has been confirmed quantitatively and qualitatively, and it is recognized as an important factor to be considered in the strategy of enhancing industrial competitiveness and entering overseas markets. In particular, small and medium-sized companies' participation in the global value chain and support measures are being presented as important research topics in the future.
Purpose - This paper aims to examine the impact of buyer-supplier cooperation on suppliers' trust on buyers and the moderating role of buyers' governance mechanism between the sharing activities and trust. Research design, data, and methodology - An integrated research model is designed to materialize the research hypotheses. First, the impact of buyer-supplier cooperation is empirically analyzed by looking into how the sharing activities, in the field of information, resource, and knowledge, of buyer with supplier will affect the trust of supplier on buyer. Second, the moderating effect of contract-based governance mechanism of buyer is empirically analyzed. Third, the influence of trust on innovation performance of suppler is empirically analyzed. Results - Our findings provide supporting evidence for some of our hypotheses. First, all of the sharing activities are significantly influential, but in different degree, to trust of supplier. Second, contract-based governance mechanism of buyer have a moderating effect on the relationship between sharing activities and trust, positively in resource-sharing activities, negatively in information-sharing activities, not significant in knowledge-sharing activities. Third, supplier's trust on buyer positively affects supplier's own innovation performance. Conclusions - The strategies applied in supply chain management have become important as the competition among firms has shifted from competition between individual firms to competition between supply chains. A customer's sharing activities with its supplier may contribute to an increase in innovation performance. The supplier's information-sharing activity with its customer could affect its information-sharing activities with its main supplier. Cooperative activity with a partner in the supply chain is cultivated and amassed into relationship knowledge, and this study shows that the cooperative relational knowledge related to information-sharing activities enables firms to participate in sharing activities with their main suppliers. Increasing evidence shows that sharing various activities between buyer and supplier improves trust and performance outcomes, and enables firms to maintain competitive advantage. From the perspective of knowledge theory, external knowledge is becoming more important in firms' innovation activities, because innovative knowledge is acquired primarily through interaction with another organization. In addition, relationship learning could be an important tool in absorbing the supplier's core technology, information, expertise, and core competencies, increasing relational value.
Purpose -International diplomacy is key for the cohesive economic growth of countries around the world. This study aims to identify the major topics discussed and make sense of word pairs used in sentences by Chinese senior leaders during their diplomatic visits. It also compares the differences between key topics addressed during diplomatic visits to developed and developing countries. Design/methodology - We employed three methods: word frequency, co-word, and semantic network analysis. Text data are crawling state and official visit news released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China regarding diplomatic visits undertaken from 2015-2019. Findings - The results show economic and diplomatic relations most prominently during state and official visits. The discussion topics were classified according to nine centrality keywords most central to the structure and had the maximum influence in China. Moreover, the results showed that China's diplomatic issues and strategies differ between developed and developing countries. The topics mentioned in developing countries were more diverse. Originality/value - Our study proposes an effective approach to identify key topics in Chinese diplomatic talks with other countries. Moreover, it shows that discussion topics differ for developed and developing countries. The findings of this research can help researchers conduct empirical studies on diplomacy relationships and extend our method to other countries. Additionally, it can significantly help key policymakers gain insights into negotiations and establish a good diplomatic relationship with China.

This research focused on the strategy formulation for the Innopolis as a Global Innovation Cluster. The study was performed based on both theoretical study and qualitative study approaches. Particularly, scenario planning as a foresight method was used for the strategy formulation. The major determinants for the success of the Innopolis can be summarized as follows; the enhancement of the host institution for the development of the innovation cluster, the relational capability of the Innopolis among daedeok, gwangju, daegu and the alignment and cooperation of the International Science & Business Belt. In terms of the needs of times, this study regarding the strategy for the formation of the Innopolis as the global innovation cluster is anticipated to be a good reference for policy makers and researchers in coming years.
It is well known that international cooperation is considerably more difficult because of the difference of interests, level of technology of the partners, social and culture as well as various macro-environmental conditions. This case study aims to investigate the success factors of international R&D collaboration between two firms. For it, an in-dept interview was conducted to the Etri-Microsoft Information Security Lab. A comprehensive research on theories, such as resource-based theory, network theory, relationship marketing theory and market power perspective was done as well. The results show clear objectives, communications based on trust, core competence on which the counterpart can rely on, consideration on the government decision process as well as the environment are important for success.

In recent years, the relationships and inter-dependencies between the countries in East Asia have deepened, and the vision for regional cohesion such as the East Asian Community have been gradually elaborated. A Grand Design for Northeast Asia is one of these comprehensive visions that aim to improve and develop international infrastructure through cooperation in the field of transportation, energy, environment, and information technology. This study paid attention to the possibility for a system for regional cohesion and cooperation in spatial development in East Asia, and analyzed the roles of the ESDP according to the requirements of the East Asian situation. As a result, it was understood that while the development of infrastructure is a main stream in the case of the regional cohesion in East Asia, the cooperative visions for the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, which are being positioned as an important policy in the EU, have not been seen. It is a very important subject to promote the policy cohesion/cooperation on the conservation and management of natural/cultural heritage and the development of tourism infrastructure for the sustainable development of East Asia, considering the trends in the growth of the interchange population and tourism market in East Asia. It was discussed that the role of research networks like the International Landscape Architectural Symposium of Korea, China and Japan is becoming important in supporting this policy cohesion and in grasping the present conditions and trends of the spatial development of these counties.

The objectives of this article are to identify the current status of agricultural infrastructure in North Korea and to suggest some cooperation measures among South and North Koreas and international agencies in order to develop the North Korea's agricultural infrastructure. The area of cultivated land in North Korea is 1,992 thousand ha (paddy field: 585 thousand ha: upland: 1,407 thousand ha) in 1997. Major water use facilities in North Korea are 1,900 reservoirs (included 100 big dams), 36,400 irrigation pumping stations, 1,600 drainage pumping stations, and 14'a,000 wells. In addition, there is 'two thousand Ri canal construction project' linking the rivers of Aprok, Daeryong, Daedong, Jaeryong, and Yesong. The unit of paddy land consolidation is about 1 ha which is regarded as rational for agricultural mechanization. The project of 'Darak' upland construction to create small size farmland, which has been carried out since 1976 has been unsuccessful due to the shortage of construction equipment. The area of farmland created by reclamation by 1995 is only 75 thousand ha although the potential project area is at)out 320 thousand ha along the western coast. It is due to the fact that civil engineering technologies and equipments are old and investment funds are insufficient. These are a few suggested areas of cooperation among South and North Korea and international agencies in order to improve North Korea's agricultural infrastructure : i) see land reclamation and land consolidation projects to increase paddy fields for rice production; ii) rehabilitation project in farm land areas devastated by flood; and iii) agricultural water development project which including diagnosing and rehabilitating irrigation and drainage facilities.
Purpose - This paper aims to investigate the competitiveness and complementarity of the agricultural products trade between Korea and Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) countries. The study evaluates the opportunities and challenges that Korea's agricultural sector faces after joining the CPTPP, and suggests strategies to deepen cooperation and expand Korea's agricultural products trade. Design/methodology - To achieve these objectives, we analyze the trade competition and cooperation relationship between Korea and CPTPP countries in the agricultural products trade. This study uses data from Chapters HS1-24 in UN Comtrade from 2012 to 2022, and applies the indices of revealed comparative advantage, export similarity, and trade complementarity to examine the trade dynamics. Furthermore, we use an Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model to predict the agricultural products trade complementarity index between Korea and CPTPP countries from 2022 to 2031. Findings - The findings of our analysis reveal that Korea's agricultural products trade competitiveness is weak compared to that of CPTPP countries, and Korea's agricultural products are at a competitive disadvantage. On the whole, the similarity index of agricultural products trade exports between Korea and CPTPP countries is low, the structure of agricultural products export is quite different, and trade competition is relatively moderate. The trade complementarity index between Korea and CPTPP countries is generally high, with strong complementarity and a large space for cooperation and development. The ARIMA model shows that in the next ten years, although the agricultural products trade complementarity index fluctuates, but is generally high, there will still be a complementarity advantage in the future. Originality/value - This study is the first attempt to investigate the competitiveness and complementarity of the agricultural products trade between Korea and CPTPP countries. We also introduce an ARIMA model to forecast and analyze the future agricultural products trade complementarity index. Our study provides new perspectives and solutions for the future development of Korea's agricultural products trade after joining the CPTPP.
