  • The diagnostic and treatment methods of multiple myeloma (MM) have been rapidly evolving owing to advances in imaging techniques and new therapeutic agents. Imaging has begun to play an important role in the management of MM, and international guidelines are frequently updated. Since the publication of 2015 International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) criteria for the diagnosis of MM, whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or low-dose whole-body computed tomography (CT) and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT have entered the mainstream as diagnostic and treatment response assessment tools. The 2019 IMWG guidelines also provide imaging recommendations for various clinical settings. Accordingly, radiologists have become a key component of MM management. In this review, we provide an overview of updates in the MM field with an emphasis on imaging modalities.

  • The augmented reality is the environment which consists of real-world view and information drawn by computer. Since the image which user can see through augmented reality device is a synthetic image composed by real-view and virtual image, it is important to make the virtual image generated by computer well harmonized with real-view image. In this paper, we present reviews of several works about computer vision and graphics methods which give user realistic augmented reality experience. To generate visually harmonized synthetic image which consists of a real and a virtual image, 3D geometry and environmental information such as lighting or material surface reflectivity should be known by the computer. There are lots of computer vision methods which aim to estimate those. We introduce some of the approaches related to acquiring geometric information, lighting environment and material surface properties using monocular or multi-view images. We expect that this paper gives reader's intuition of the computer vision methods for providing a realistic augmented reality experience.

  • As exchange and cooperation have increased in each country or region and a variety of NGOs are getting increasingly active in the 21st century, environments for the industry of international conventions have continued to improve. However, since the industry is in the starting stage, facilities for international conventions and professional management personnel are deficient. In this study, furniture design that shows the cultural identity of Korea from the invention facilities is focused and efforts are made in order to make the shape that has functionality and meaning based on the analysis of space. Participants of diverse nationalities, who use international convention facilities, feel Korea through furniture and remember its image; thus, this study focuses on the furniture design that has the identity of Korea. The concept of furniture design has been derived based on the traditional aesthetic consciousness in the symbolic, cultural, and emotional light. The identity of design does not depend on the partial characteristics of the traditional society but modernity and internationality shall coexist along with traditionality. Modernity and globalism are reflected along with the traditional elements in furniture.

  • In this paper we present the linear combination of a fuzzy opening and closing filter with locally adaptive structuring elements that can preserve the geometrical features of an image. Based on the adaptation algorithm of linear combination of the fuzzy opening and closing filter, the optimal structuring element for image representation is obtained. The optimal structuring element is an indicator of the shape and direction of an object's image, which is useful in filtering, multi resolution, segmentation, and recognition of an image.

  • Chinese martial arts culture is a kind of Chinese kung fu culture, a cultural category that uses martial arts kung fu for chivalry and justice. Chinese martial arts MMORPG online game is the embodiment of Chinese martial arts culture in online games, which is a unique Chinese online game. The image of beggar chivalry is a special chivalrous image in Chinese martial arts culture, and in the top 3 martial arts MMORPG online games, all of them have the image of beggar chivalry, which shows that this image has a wide player base. The Q methodology is an approach that endeavors to discover complex issues in human subjectivity, unlike existing empirical studies. In order to determine the type of beggar chivalry image preference of the game players, 32 beggar chivalry images were selected in the study and three types of beggar chivalry images were found through the Q method: Type 1 is the type of gorgeous and noble beggar chivalry; Type 2 is a competent type and is good at fighting the beggar's chivalry; and Type 3 is comparable relatively refined type. The result of this study is that the image of beggar chivalry preferred by game players is the opposite of the traditional Chinese image of beggar chivalry. The traditional image of beggar is the image of wearing plain and begging in the street, but the image of beggar chivalry that is liked in online games is luxurious, noble, exquisite and about the image of good at fighting. This research result has some value and significance in the development and design of beggar chivalrous image in future martial arts MMORPG online games.

  • The fingerprint image quality relies on the clearness of separated ridges by valleys and the uniformity of the separation. The condition of skin still dominate the overall quality of the fingerprint. However, the identification performance of such system is very sensitive to the quality of the captured fingerprint image. Fingerprint image quality analysis and enhancement are useful in improving the performance of fingerprint identification systems. A fuzzy technique is introduced in this paper for both fingerprint image quality analysis and enhancement. First, the quality analysis is performed by extracting four features from a fingerprint image which are the local clarity score (LCS), global clarity score (GCS), ridge_valley thickness ratio (RVTR), and the Global Contrast Factor (GCF). A fuzzy logic technique that uses Mamdani fuzzy rule model is designed. The fuzzy inference system is able to analyse and determinate the fingerprint image type (oily, dry or neutral) based on the extracted feature values and the fuzzy inference rules. The percentages of the test fuzzy inference system for each type is as follow: For dry fingerprint the percentage is 81.33, for oily the percentage is 54.75, and for neutral the percentage is 68.48. Secondly, a fuzzy morphology is applied to enhance the dry and oily fingerprint images. The fuzzy morphology method improves the quality of a fingerprint image, thus improving the performance of the fingerprint identification system significantly. All experimental work which was done for both quality analysis and image enhancement was done using the DB_ITS_2009 database which is a private database collected by the department of electrical engineering, institute of technology Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya, Indonesia. The performance evaluation was done using the Feature Similarity index (FSIM). Where the FSIM is an image quality assessment (IQA) metric, which uses computational models to measure the image quality consistently with subjective evaluations. The new proposed system outperformed the classical system by 900% for the dry fingerprint images and 14% for the oily fingerprint images.
