Objectives: This study reports on the efficacy of using Korean medical treatment with suspected Meniere's Disease. Methods: We treated a patient with suspected Meniere's disease using Korean medical treatments (herbal medicines, acupuncture, herbal acupuncture therapy). To evaluate the results, we used the visual analogue scale (VAS) to measure dizziness, tinnitus, ear fullness, and headache. The degree of tinnitus was also evaluated using the Korean Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (K-THI). The generic health status was evaluated using the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) scale. Results: Improvements in the VAS and EQ-5D scale scores were observed after the treatments. The change in the K-THI scores showed that the patient's tinnitus handicap was relieved. Conclusions: The results of this case study suggest that Korean medicine therapies may be effective in the treatment of suspected Meniere's Disease.

Cystitis and acute pyelonephritis(APN) are usually caused by ascending infection. Two cases of urinary tract infection(UTI) were encountered. Because antibiotics might cause some adverse reactions such as diarrhea, eruption, anorexia, nausea and vomiting, so Korean Traditional Medicine has been applied to UTI, and several reports can be found in the literature. This study was performed on two patients with UTI who were treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. Noteworthy results were obtained in hematology and urinalysis. UTI symptoms, signs and laboratory findings are indicative of successful treatment. Results suggests that Korean Traditional Medicine applied to UTI is effective. These findings are reported with a brief review of related literature.

Radionuclide renal scintigraphies were performed in a 24-year-old man with right renal artery branch stenosis. Captopril enhanced $^{99m}Tc-DTPA$ renal scintigraphy revealed no abnormal finding in the right kidney. But, $^{99m}Tc-DMSA$ renal scintigraphy showed regional cortical photon deficient area corresponding to the area supplied by the stenotic branch artery. The defect size increased in captopril enhanced $^{99m}Tc-DMSA$ renal scintigrphy and nearly disappeared after successful transluminal renal angioplasty. This case suggests that the captopril enhanced $^{99m}Tc-DMSA$ renal scintigraphy may be a useful method in the evaluation of renovascular hypertension, especially due to branch renal srtery stenosis.

The purpose of this study is to report a patient with pleural effusion improved by oriental medical treatment. The patient was treated with Bokryunghaengingamcho-tang and acupunture. We measured pleural effusion by Chest CT, twice a month. Pleural effusion decreased in Chest CT after oriental medical treatment. This study suggests that Bokryunghaengingamcho-tang is effective in pleural effusion.

We presented a case of unusual endobronchial inflammatory polyps as a complication following endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) in a patient with tuberculous lymphadenitis. EBUSTBNA of the right hilar lymph node was performed in a 29-year-old, previously healthy man. The patient was confirmed with tuberculous lymphadenitis and received antituberculosis medication over the course of 6 months. Chest computed tomography, after 6 months of antituberculosis therapy following the EBUS-TBNA showed nodular bronchial wall thickening of the right main bronchus. Histological and microbiological examinations revealed inflammatory polyps. After 7 months, the inflammatory polyps regressed almost completely without need for removal.

Castleman's disease is uncommon lymphoproliferative disorder as giant lymph node hyperplasia and angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia. Multicentric variant of Castleman's disease, plasma cell type has been described that has more generalized lymph node involvement as well as involvement of other organ systems than localized type. Multicentric plasma cell type is frequently accompanied by systemic manifestations, such as weight loss, lowgrade fever and weakness. But the reported cases of pulmonary parenchymal involvement are rare and have almost consisted of hyalinized granuloma adjacent to a bronchus. We report a patient with Castleman's disease of the lung, pathologically proven interstitial pulmonary involvement.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the efficacy of applying Korean medical treatment to chronic gastritis. Methods: We treated a chronic gastritis patient with Korean medical treatments (herbal medicines, acupuncture, and herbal acupuncture therapy). To evaluate the results of this treatment, we took measurements using the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale and Visual Analogue Scale for abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, and abdominal distension. The patient's generic health status was evaluated using the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale. Results: Improvements in gastrointestinal symptom ratings and the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale were observed after the treatments. Relief of symptoms was observed in abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distension using the Visual Analogue Scale. Conclusions: This study suggests that Korean medicine may be effective in the treatment of chronic gastritis.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report on the efficacy of Korean medical treatment for treating menopausal vasomotor symptoms (heat flashes and sleep disorders). Methods: We treated a menopausal female patient with heat flashes and sleep disorders using Korean medical treatments (herbal medicines, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, and chuna). To evaluate the results of this treatment, we used Kupperman's Index and the Numerical Rating Scale to measure heat flashes and total sleeping time, respectively. The patient's general health status was evaluated using the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale. Results: We observed improvements in Kupperman's Index, the Numerical Rating Scale, the patient's total sleeping time, and the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale following the treatments. Conclusions: This study suggests that Korean medicine may be an effective treatment for menopausal vasomotor symptoms (heat flashes and sleep disorders).

Methods: We used Korean medical treatments (herbal medicines and acupuncture) to treat a hospitalized patient with suspected allergic rhinitis. To evaluate the treatment, we used Total Nasal Symptom Scores to measure sneezing, rhinorrhea, itching, and obstruction. The degree of rhinitis was also evaluated using the Visual Analogue Scale, and the patient's generic health status was measured using the European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale. Results: Visual Analogue Scale and European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Scale scores improved after treatment. The change in Total Nasal Symptom Scores showed that the patient's suspected allergic rhinitis symptoms were relieved. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that Korean medicine therapies may be effective for treating suspected allergic rhinitis.

Objectives: This study evaluates the effect of Korean medicine in a patient with multiple system atrophy-C (MSA-C). Methods: A patient diagnosed with MSA-C was treated with herbal medicine (Boyangwhano-tang hap Yeokgan-san), acupuncture, and moxibustion for 8 weeks. Clinical improvements were evaluated by the unified MSA rating scale (UMSARS) and the scale for the assessment and rating of ataxia (SARA). Results: Improvements in the total scores of UMSARS Part I, II, and IV and SARA were observed after Korean medicine treatments. However, there were no improvements to the urinary and autonomic dysfunctions. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment may be an effective treatment for a degenerative, progressive disease like MSA-C.
