  • The outcome of plant-pathogen interactions is influenced significantly by endogenous small molecules that coordinate plant defence responses. There is currently tremendous scientific and commercial interest in identifying chemicals whose exogenous application activates plant defences and affords protection from pathogen infection. In this review, we provide a survey of compounds known to induce disease resistance in plants, with particular emphasis on how each compound was originally identified, its putative or demonstrated mechanism of defence induction, and the known biological target(s) of each chemical. Larger polymeric structures and peptides/proteins are also discussed in this context. The quest for novel defence-inducing molecules would be aided by the capability for high-throughput analysis of candidate compounds, and we describe some issues associated with the development of these types of screens. Subsequent characterization of hits can be a formidable challenge, especially in terms of identifying chemical targets in plant cells. A variety of powerful molecular tools are available for this characterization, not only to provide insight into methods of plant defence activation, but also to probe fundamental biological processes. Furthermore, these investigations can reveal molecules with significant commercial potential as crop protectants, although a number of factors must be considered for this potential to be realized. By highlighting recent progress in the application of chemical biology techniques for the modulation of plant-pathogen interactions, we provide some perspective on the exciting opportunities for future progress in this field of research.

  • The development in modern world media made information expansion and conversion much easier. These changes in media environment required a lot of companies to quickly respond to the overall environment and come up with new appropriate marketing strategies. Companies use experiential exhibition halls to enhance their images. The goal of the research is to set the basis for digital signage exhibition production characteristics as a spatial mechanism by presenting the need to use the digital signage as a tool. Digital signage expands senses and connects internal and external space. There are many types of digital signage (display, projection, special media, etc) and they are informative, aesthetic, inductive, and amusing. For research methods, Korean companies' exhibition halls sample analysis and surveys were executed to analyze the awareness, expression characteristics, effects, and usage status of digital signage. In conclusion, corporate exhibition halls should: 1. be an interesting and comfortable space that can be used as a communication tool between the company and consumers 2. increase corporate potentials and faith by expanding human senses and inducing new experiences 3. continue to capture the interest of spectators through diversity.

  • The market of programmable implantable pumps has bound to a monopolistic situation, inducing high device costs, thus making them inaccessible to most patients. Micro-mechanical and medical innovations allow improved performances by reducing the dimensions. This affects the consumption and weight, and, by reducing the number of parts, the cost is also affected. This paper presents the procedure followed to design an innovative implantable drug delivery system. This drug delivery system consists of a low flow pump which shall be implanted in the human body to relieve pain. In comparison to classical known solutions, this pump presents many advantages of high interest in both medical and mechanical terms. The first section of the article describes the specifications which would characterize a perfect delivery system from every points of view. This concerns shape, medication, flow, autonomy, biocompatibility, security and sterilization ability. Afterwards, an overview of existing systems is proposed in a decisional tree. Positive displacement motorized pumps are classified into three main groups: the continuous movement group, the fractioned translation group and the alternative movement group. These systems are described and the different problems which are specific to these mechanisms are presented. Since none of them fully satisfy the specifications, an innovation is justified.. The decisional tree is therefore extended by adding new principles: fractioned refilling and fractioned injection within the fractioned translation movement group, spider guiding system within the alternative translation movement group, rotational bearing guided device and notch hinge guided device in the alternative rotation movement group.

  • Since the popularity of social network services (SNS) rise, the data produced from them is rapidly increased. The SNS data includes personal propensity or interest and propagates rapidly so there are many requests on analyzing the data for applying the analytic results to various fields. New technologies and services for processing and analyzing big data in the real-time are introduced but it is hard to apply them in a short time and low coast. In this paper, an efficient method to build a tweet analysis system without inducing new technologies or service platforms for handling big data is proposed. The proposed method was verified through building a prototype monitoring system to collect and analyze tweets using the MySQL database and the PHP scripts.

  • In this paper, we propose and examine the feasibility of the robot-assisted behavioral intervention system so as to strengthen positive response of the children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for learning social skills. Based on well-known behavioral treatment protocols, the robot offers therapeutic training elements of eye contact and emotion reading respectively in child-robot interaction, and it subsequently accomplishes pre-allocated meaningful acts by estimating the level of children's reactivity from reliable recognition modules, as a coping strategy. Furthermore, for the purpose of labor saving and attracting children's interest, we implemented the robotic stimulation configuration with semi-autonomous actions capable of inducing intimacy and tension to children in instructional trials. From these configurations, by evaluating the ability of recognizing human activity as well as by showing improved reactivity for social training, we verified that the proposed system has some positive effects on social development, targeted for preschoolers who have a high functioning level.

  • Ultra-short laser pulses are effective, when high requirements concerning accuracy, surface roughness and heat affected zone are demanded for surface structuring. In particular, picosecond laser systems that are suited to be operated in industrial environments are of great interest for many practical applications. This paper focused on inducing optimum process parameters for higher volume ablation rate by analyzing a relationship between crater diameter and optical spot size. In detail, the dependency of the volume ablation rate, penetration depth and threshold fluence on the pulse duration 8 ps and wavelength of 515 nm was discussed. The experimental results showed that wavelength of 515 nm resulted in less threshold fluence ($0.075J/cm^2$) on copper than IR wavelength ($0.3J/cm^2$). As a result, it was possible that optimum fluence for higher volume ablation rate was achieved with $0.28J/cm^2$.
