  • It is important to set the new interconnection system under NGN. The traditional interconnection system is based on traffic, but this is not suitable for IP based service. Therefore, it is needed to ensure the universal access to network without trouble about the network topology. This paper prepares the evaluation criteria and evaluates the alternatives. Specifically, we deduce the alternatives and evaluates the alternatives of interconnection settlement system based on the condition of efficient interconnection, the retail price and access charging model, and the previous studies evaluating and examining the various alternatives. Finally, we evaluate each alternatives by the criteria.

  • The base station (BS) of CDMA mobile system (CMS) provides mobile call services by controlling call processing functions. The call Processing part of the BS is divided into two components; the base station transceiver subsystem (BTS) and the base station controller (BSC). In this paper, we present the call capacity estimation of the BS about control signals and traffic data of calls by the simulation, and find the bottleneck points and problems which may occur in the BS. In order to estimate the call capacity, first we extract the major parameters for the modeling the BS. Second, we suggest the simulation model for the BS. Third, we estimate the simulation results by finding major objective factors such that the call blocking probability, the utilization ratio and the delay time in the traffic channel elements (TCEs), the BTS interconnection network (BIN)-COMA interconnection network (CIN) trunks, the transcoding channels and the CIN packet router.

  • This study redefines the networks' connection behaviors and the terms confusion over the settlement in Netflix-SK Broadband's dispute through domestic and foreign legal references. Conflict parties, academics and the media use the terms "interconnection fee" or "Access fee" without uniformity, and in some cases mixes for strategic purposes. The use of different terms for the same phenomenon (or vice versa) has a high need for research in that it makes it difficult to reach a unified approach to the problem, to discuss it productively and rationally, and, moreover, to resolve disputes. Therefore, this study cross-referenced/analyzed terms related to network utilization and connectivity, namely "Use", "Access", "Interconnection" and thus cost-related terms as a counter-pay. In addition, it suggests that interconnection fees and access fees should be used separately, and allows them to function as a starting point in resolving future ICT sector issues. As a result of this study, the price against the network access/use between Netflix and SK Broadband is access fee or retail price, and proposes to be used uniformly in the term "interconnection fee" only for fees incurred in interconnection between ISPs that possess or operate networks.

  • In this paper, a performance evaluation model of the Multistage Interconnection Network(MIN) with the multiple-buffered crossbar switches under Hot-spot environment is proposed and examined. Buffered switch technique is well known to solve the data collision problem of the MIN. The proposed evaluation model is developed by investigating the transfer patterns of data packets in a switch. The performance of the multiple-buffered $a{\times}a$ crossbar switch is analyzed. Steady state probability concept is used to simplify the analyzing processes. Two important parameters of the network performance, throughput and delay, are then evaluated. To validate the proposed analysis model, the simulation is carried out on a Baseline network that uses the multiple buffered crossbar switches. Less than 2% differences between analysis and simulation results are observed. It is also shown that the network performance is significantly improved when the small number of buffer spaces is given. However, the throughput elevation is getting reduced and network delay becomes increasing as more buffer spaces are added in a switch.

  • This paper presents an interconnection network for load balancing on a multimedia server and proposes a simple probabilistic model of the interconnection network for analysing the traffic characteristics. Because the switch uses deflection algorithm for routing, the traffic load on the switch seriously affects deflection probability. In this paper, we trace the deflection probability as a function of the traffic load according to the model. By comparing the result with the empirical result, we prove that the model is useful for estimating the deflection probability and traffic saturation point against the amount of packets getting into the switch.

  • In packet switching using multistage interconnection networks (MIN's), it is generally assumed that the packet movements successively propagate from the last stage to the first stage in one network cycle. However, Ding and Bhuyan has shown that the network performance can be significantly improved if the packet movements are confined within each pair of adjacent stages using small clock cycles. In this paper, an analytical model for evaluating the performance of input-buffered MlN's employing this network cycle approach is proposed, The effectiveness of the proposed model is confirmed by comparing results from the simulation as well as from Ding and Bhuyan model.

  • Optical Multistage Interconnection Networks(OMINs) comprising photonic switches have been studied extensively as important interconnecting building blocks for communication networks and parallel computing systems. A basic element of photonic switching networks is a 2$\times$2 directional coupler with two inputs and two outputs. This paper is concerned with the diagnosis of cross-talk-faults in OMINs. As the size of today's network becomes very large, the conventional diagnosis methods based on tests and simulation have become inefficient, or even more, impractical. In this paper, we propose a simple and easily implementable algorithm for detection and isolation of the single crosstalk-fault in OMINs. Specifically, we develope an algorithm fur the isolation of the source fault in switching elements whenever the single crosstalk-fault is detected in OMINS. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by an example of 16$\times$16 banyan network.

  • The issues on the interconnection of telecommunications network are recently prevailed in the IT industry. In this study, we classify the network interconnection system into two categories: two way-same price model and two way-different price model. The purpose of this paper is to analyze economic characteristics of optimal settlement system according to each model. One of the most important policy implications we derive through this study is that symmetry between enterprises is required for policy maker or regulatory agency to set an efficient settlement system under two way-same price model, but that symmetry is not necessarily required under two way-sane price model.

  • Network anomaly detection in Software Defined Networking, especially the detection of DDoS attack, has been given great attention in recent years. It is convenient to build the Traffic Matrix from a global view in SDN. However, the monitoring and management of high-volume feature-rich traffic in large networks brings significant challenges. In this paper, we propose a moving window Principal Components Analysis based anomaly detection and mitigation approach to map data onto a low-dimensional subspace and keep monitoring the network state in real-time. Once the anomaly is detected, the controller will install the defense flow table rules onto the corresponding data plane switches to mitigate the attack. Furthermore, we evaluate our approach with experiments. The Receiver Operating Characteristic curves show that our approach performs well in both detection probability and false alarm probability compared with the entropy-based approach. In addition, the mitigation effect is impressive that our approach can prevent most of the attacking traffic. At last, we evaluate the overhead of the system, including the detection delay and utilization of CPU, which is not excessive. Our anomaly detection approach is lightweight and effective.
