  • Salvia plebeia R. Br. is a plant which has been used as an edible crop and traditional medicine in Asian countries. In this study, HPLC-PDA analysis and countercurrent chromatography (CCC) coupled with reversed-phase (RP) HPLC method were applied to isolate ten isolates from 3.3 g of n-butanol soluble extract from hot-water extract of S. plebeia. The use of CCC enabled us to efficiently fractionate the starting material with less sample loss and facilitate the isolation of compounds from S. plebeia extract using RP-HPLC. The isolates were determined to be caffeic acid (1), 6-hydroxyluteolin 7-O-β-D-glucoside (2), eudebeiolide B (3), (R)-rosmarinic acid (4), homoplantaginin (5), eudebeiolide D (6), plebeiolide C (7), salpleflavone (8), eupafolin (9) and hispidulin (10) based on the spectroscopic evidence.

  • The pulse transit time(PTT), which is determined by measuring the electrocardiogram(ECG) and pulse wave, gives comprehensive information about the cardiovascular system. However, a little movement of body and/or inaccurate pressure applied to skin during the measurement of pulse wave leads to acquire incorrect results. To overcome such problem, we developed an integrated sensor system which makes it possible to measure ECG, pressure pulse wave(PPW) and photoplethysmograph(PPG) at the same time. Futhermore, we implemented a new metal electrode which enables to continuously measure ECG. We verified that both integrated sensor system and new electrode provide useful effect.

  • This study was performed to evaluate research studies utilizing ultrasound diagnostic units, the practitioners who performed the ultrasound assessments, and how they had been used primarily in tandem with the Korean Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System. This study identified 46 studies following a literature search, and discovered that a Korean medicine doctor led the ultrasonography in 13 studies, a medical technician was responsible in 6 studies, a roentgenologist carried it out in 5, and 19 of the studies did not specify who had conducted it. Ultrasonography had been actively used in the course of the clinical practice of Korean medicine, and it may serve as a useful and reliable diagnostic tool for evaluating the effectiveness of Korean medicine. The results of this study will help to promote more ultrasound studies in the future.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to review the research in the cyclic treatment of endometriosis in traditional Korean medicine. Methods: By October 2019, the relevant studies on the periodic therapy of endometriosis were searched using the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI) and Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS). Results: Finally, three Randomized controlled trials, one case study, two clinical observational studies were selected. In all studies, herbal medicine periodic therapy has been effective in improving symptoms of endometriosis. Blood-activating and stasis-dispelling medicinal were the most commonly used before menstruation and during menstruation, and tonifying and replenishing medicinal were the most commonly used after menstruation. According to the one study, which reported safety, herbal medicine was safe. Conclusions: Although limited due to a lack of literature, periodic therapy is effective in improving endometriosis related symptoms and preventing recurrence. A well-designed study and experimental studies for the identification of the mechanism are needed.

  • Dang Jonghae put in order symptoms to volume one of Uihakgyeonneung by the attack region of illness, to volume two of Uihakgyeonneung by systemic symptoms, and ones peculiar to gynecology and pediatrics to volume three of Uihakgyeonneung. He presented the basis of a differential diagnosis by Yin-Yang, heat and cold, weakness and firmness. He seized the cause and mechanism of a disease obviously and took measures to cope with a disease. These were the result of his rationality that he integrated the Chinese and Western medicine. That is to say, he summarized the voluminous medical books and extracted the essential ones to utilize conveniently, and he made us grasp the essence of medicine to make symptoms concrete. Therefore, we can study this book as the fundamental courses to make use of basic research and clinical medicine.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to figure out the tendency of the commonly-used-pattern-identification and treatment for Hyperhidrosis by reviewing Korean clinical studies. Methods 18 articles which were published from August, 2004 to December, 2018. were obtained from the National discovery for science leader (NDSL), Research information sharing service (RISS), and Oriental medicine advanced searching integrated system (OASIS) by using keyword 'hyperhidrosis'. Results The most commonly-used-pattern-identification were the patterns with 'Heart' and 'Spleen-stomach'. Hyungbangsabaek-san and Taeeumjowi-tang were the most frequently used herbal medicine. The most common acupoints was LI4. The most common method of assessment was VAS. Conclusions This study identifies the most common pattern identification and treatment for hyperhidrosis. Developing systematic standards of pattern identification and treatment can be possible with further studies.

  • Background: Facial nerve palsy presents a significant healthcare challenge, impacting daily life and social interactions. This systematic review investigates the potential utility of ultrasonography as a diagnostic tool for facial nerve palsy. Methods: Electronic searches will be conducted across various databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL (Cochrane Central register of Controlled Trials), CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), KMBASE (Korean Medical Database), ScienceON, and OASIS (Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System), up to February 2024. The primary outcome will focus on ultrasonography-related parameters, such as facial nerve diameter and muscle thickness. Secondary outcomes will encompass clinical measurements, including facial nerve grading scales and electrodiagnostic studies. the risk of bias in individual study will be assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias assessment tool, while the grading of recommendations, assessment, development, and evaluations methodology will be utilized to evaluate the overall quality of evidence. Conclusion: This study aims to review existing evidence and evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of ultrasonography for peripheral facial nerve palsy.
