  • In this paper, a RAID system is modeled and simulated by using the DEVS formalism. The RA[D system interacts with a host system by using the high-speed Fibre channel protocol and stores input data in an array of IDE disks. The DEVS formalism specifies discrete event systems in a hierarchical, modular manner. The RAID system model is composed of three units: primary-PCI unit, secondary-PCI unit and CPU unit. The primary-PCI unit interfaces with the host system and caches I/O data. The secondary-PCI unit includes disks. The CPU unit controls overall system. The control algorithm of CPU and PCI transactions are analyzed and modeled. From an analysis of simulation events, we can conclude that the proposed model satisfies given requirements.

  • In this study, three different unit hydrograph methods (Snyder, SCS, Clark) in the HEC-HMS were compared to find better fit with the observed data in the small agricultural watershed. Baran watershed, having $3.85km^2$ in size, was selected as a study watershed. The watershed input data for HEC-HMS were retrieved using HEC-GeoHMS which was developed to assist making GIS input data for HEC-HMS. Rainfall and water flow data were monitored since 1996 for the study watershed. Fifty five storms from 1996 to 2003 were selected for model calibration and verification. Three unit hydrograph methods were compared with the observed data in terms of simulated peak runoff, peak time and total direct runoff for the selected storms. The results showed that the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) for the observed peak runoff was $0.8666{\sim}0.8736$ and root mean square error, RMSE, was $5.25{\sim}6.37\;m^3/s$ for calibration stages. In the model verification, $R^2$ for the observed peak runoff was $0.8588{\sim}0.8638$ and RMSE was $9.57{\sim}11.80\;m^3/s$, which were slightly less accurate than the calibrated data. The simulated flood hydrographs were well agreed with the observed data. SCS unit hydrograph method showed best fit, but there was no significant difference among the three unit hydrograph methods.

  • In this study, by using the Water footprint technique, the water consumption by washing machines, which holds higher ranks in using water than any other electric appliances, was analyzed during their life cycle. The life cycle is defined as raw materials production step, manufacturing step, and using step. In raw materials production step, Input materials were researched by using LCI DB(Life Cycle Inventory Database) and the water consumption was calculated with consideration of approximately 65% Input materials which were based weight. In manufacturing step, the water consumption was calculated by the amount of energy used in assembly factories and components subcontractors and emission factor of energy. In using step, referring to guidelines on carbon footprint labeling, the life cycle is applied as 5 years for a washing machine and 218 cycles for annual bounds of usage. The water and power consumption for operating was calculated by referring to posted materials on the manufacture's websites. The water consumption by nation unit was calculated with the result of water consumption by a unit of washing machine. As a result, it shows that water consumption per life cycle s 110,105 kg/unit. The water consumption of each step is 90,495 kg/unit for using, 18,603 kg for raw materials production and 1,006 kg/unit for manufacturing, which apparently shows that the using step consume the most water resource. The water consumption by nation unit is 371,269,584tons in total based on 2006, 83,385,649 tons in both steps of raw material production and manufacturing, and 287,883,935 tons in using step.

  • A majority of 4G Mobile communication manufacturers have launched separated-type base stations composed of DU (digital unit) and RU (ratio unit). DUs are usually installed in the central office, while RUs with antennas are installed on the top of building or pole. Therefore, the allowable distance between DU and RU is very important for cell planning. In this paper, we analyze the allowable distance between DU and RU induced by closed-loop MIMO (mulitple input multiple output) technology in 4G FDD (frequency division duplexing) mobile communication systems. In conclusion, the distance limit between DU and RU is dependent on the frequency of the wireless communication, and the allowable distance is about 11 km when assuming the operating frequency is 2 GHz.

  • Purpose: The development of compact tractors that can be used in dry fields, greenhouses, and orchards for pest control, weeding, transportation, and harvesting is necessary. The development and performance evaluation of power transmission units are very important when it comes to tractor development. This study evaluates the performance of a driving power transmission unit of a 50 kW multi-purpose narrow tractor. Methods: The performance of the transmission and forward-reverse clutch, which are the main components of the driving power transmission unit of multi-purpose narrow tractors, was evaluated herein. The transmission performance was evaluated in terms of power transmission efficiency, noise, and axle load, while the forward-reverse clutch performance was evaluated in terms of durability. The transmission's power transmission efficiency accounts for the measurement of transmission losses, which occur in the transmission's gear, bearing, and oil seal. The motor's power was input in the transmission's input shaft. The rotational speed and torque were measured in the final output shaft. The noise was measured at each speed level after installing a microphone on the left, right, and upper sides. The axle load test was performed through a continuous equilibrium load test, in which a constant load was continuously applied. The forward-reverse clutch performance was calculated using the engine torque to axle torque ratio with the assembled engine and transmission. Results: The loss of power in the transmission efficiency test of the driving power unit was 6.0-9.7 kW based on all gear steps. This loss of horsepower was equal to 11-18% of the input power (52 kW). The transmission efficiency of the driving power unit was 81.5-89.0%. The noise of the driving power unit was 50-57 dB at 800 rpm, 70-77 dB at 1600 rpm, and 76-83 dB at 2400 rpm. The axle load test verified that the input torque and axle revolutions were constant. The results of the forward-reverse clutch performance test revealed that hydraulic pressure and torque changes were stably maintained when moving forward or backward, and its operation met the hydraulic design standards. Conclusions: When comprehensively examined, these research results were similar to the main driving power transmission systems from USA and Japan in terms of performance. Based on these results, tractor prototypes are expected to be created and supplied to farmhouses after going through sufficient in-situ adaptability tests.

  • The standard production unit system is the most basic element in our country construction. However, this standard production unit system shows a large difference in the actual amount of labor input for works at the Apartment housing construction, Therefore, it may be a reasonable alternative to estimate the cost of construction by historical cost data, works will be calculated the cost of labor must determine the exact amount and It is necessary to determine the exact amount of labor input for the construction progress management. This study examines the results of comparing the standard production unit system and the actual amount of labor counting in apartment housing construction was completed in the metropolitan area since 2000, the following results were obtained. the actual amount of labor input are looked for 1.184person/1000 of masonary, $0.084persons/m^2$ of plaster, $0.039persons/m^2$ of Waterproofing, $0.059persons/m^2$ of tile at the Apartment housing construction. in the actual amount of labor counting Compared with standard production unit system, masonry ratio of 59.8%, plaster ratio of 41.3%, waterproofing ratio of 31.5%, tile ratio of 34.3% and The labor rate in the works was the lowest in the plaster. was relatively high in the masonary. Therefore, the amount of labor country apartment housing construction is preferably calculated on historical cost data. But it seems that the amount of labor necessary complement ongoing close enough to the actual standard production unit system a major variable in construction management.

  • This paper presents a new DAC design strategy to achieve a wideband dynamic linearity by increasing the bandwidth of the output impedance. In order to reduce the dominant parasitic capacitance of the conventional matrix structure, all the cells associated with a unit current source and its control are stacked in a single column very closely (stacked unit cell structure). To further reduce the parasitic capacitance, the size of the unit current source is considerably reduced at the sacrifice of matching yield. The degraded matching of the current sources is compensated for by a self-calibration. A prototype 6-bit 3.3-GS/s current-steering full binary DAC was fabricated in a 1P9M 90 nm CMOS process. The DAC shows an SFDR of 36.4 dB at 3.3 GS/s Nyquist input signal. The active area of the DAC occupies only $0.0546mm^2$ (0.21 mm ${\times}$ 0.26 mm).

  • The study aims to explore the problems of analysis unit when examining management performance and efficiency using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis). Generally the DEA results depend on input, output, and analysis units. We used data from Park (2012) which analyze paddy farmers in Jeonnam province. Results show that data from farm household unit was well fitted to examine management efficiency, not data from per area unit. This study will be helpful for researchers and practitioners to understand proper analysis unit when using the DEA for enhancing farm competitiveness.
