We powders were synthesized from W powders in differnet particle sizes by Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis process (SHS) using a chemical furnace. The effects of the mole ratio of chemical fuel content, pellet thickness and the mole ratio between carbon and tungsten (C/W Ratio) on synthesis were investigated with the tungsten powders have different particle size each other. Compositional and structural characterization of these powders was carried out by scanning electron microscope (SEM0 and x-ray diffractometer. Powder characterization was carried out by the measurement of particle size distribution with laser-particle size analyzer. The amounts of WC obtained by SHS process depend very much on the particle size of tungsten powder and heat contents given in a product, i.e. as the particle size of W powder is smaller, the amounts of WC produced increase. Also the more heat contents is given, the more amounts of WC increase. By optimizing the synthesis conditions, it is possible to fabricate WC powders which have little secondary phases (W2C, C).

KISTI has intended to provide domestic researchers of chemistry and materials with the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database free of charge. Therefore, we construct the database and develop new web-based information searching system with the use of the ICSD data licensed by the FIZ Karlsruhe, Germany. We organize several menus possible to search the structure of crystal in a variety of ways on the web and the search results show not only numerical data of the structure of crystal but also the graphic of X-ray diffraction pattern and the 3-dimension structure of crystal. The data will be updated continuously and the searching system will be improved in order to provide researchers with information easily and swiftly.
To determine contents of inorganic elements of Ganoderma lucidum (Fr.) Karsten, the horn-shaped carpophores and the pileus of Ganoderma lucidum were incinerated and analyzed by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrophotometry. The ash contents of the pileus and the horn-shaped carpophore were 1.48 and 1.40 % respectively. The pileus contained calcium, magnesium, sodium, manganese, iron, zinc and germanium in that order. The horn-shaped carpophore contained magnesium, calcium, zinc, manganese, iron, copper and germanium in that order.
Shrinkage crack is a major concern for cement materials, especially for flat structures such as Korean On-Dol floor system, flooring for garages, and wall. One of the methods to reduce the adverse effects of shrinkage cracking is to reinforce cement materials with shot randomly distributed fibers. The efficiency of inorganic fibrous material to arresting cracks in cementitious composites was studied. Cement materials reinforced with five different qualities of inorganic fibrous material were tested. Contents of inorganic fibrous material were 1.0 kg, 1.5 kg, 2.0 kg, 2.5 kg, 3.0 kg by weight of cement mortar and C : S types of cement mortar were 1:3 and 1:4. W/C were 60% and 80%. Cement mortar of inorganic fibrous material reinforcement showed an ability to reduce the crack width and crack length significantly as compared to unreinforced cement mortar. $40%{\sim}60%$ drop in shrinkage crack of 1:4 cement mortar with 1.5 kg over was observed.
Mulberry leaves Julpyun(a traditional Korean rice cake) was prepared by adding Mulberry leaves powder in the ratio of 0%, 3%, 6% and 9% of rice flour, and tested for inorganic nature, physical function, chromaticity, and rheological properties. As the ratio of mulberry leaves powder increased, both the amounts of major inorganic ingredients, calcium, magnesium, and sodium, and the amounts of minor inorganic ingredients, iron, copper, and zinc, were increased proportionally. Thus, one way to increase the amounts of inorganic ingredients appeared to add mulberry leaves powder. In physical function test, control cake(0% mulberry leaves) showed the highest value in appearance and the value decreased as the amounts of mulberry leaves increased. In color, 3%-mulberry leaves-Julpyun gave the highest value followed by 0%, 6%, and 9%-Julpyun in order. The values of texture and moisture were decreased as the ratio of mulberry leaves powder increased. In rheometer test, 9%-mulberry leaves Julpyun showed the high values in hardness, cohesiveness, and brittleness. Therefore, as the amounts of mulberry leaves powder increased, the amounts of inorganic ingredients increased, but the value of physical function test decreased. 9% mulberry leaves Julpyun has the highest value of rheometer test.

This experiment was conducted using 350 Lohmann Brown layers (67 weeks of age) to evaluate the dietary effect of organic or inorganic Se and Cu on their contents in chicken eggs. The layers were divided into seven groups and fed a commercial diet or one of the six experimental diets containing different levels of Se and Cu (T1, 0.3ppm organic Se; T2, 1.0ppm organic Se; T3, 1.0ppm inorganic Se; T4, 125ppm organic Cu; T5, 250ppm organic Cu; and T6, 250ppm inorganic Cu) for 5 weeks. No significant differences were observed in egg production and its qualities among groups. The contents of blood cholesterol in the birds fed various levels of Se and Cu were not significantly different as compared to control. Se contents in eggs were linearly increased as dietary Se levels increased for both sources, but Se contents from the groups fed organic Se were slightly higher than those fed inorganic Se. Sensory characteristics of eggs were not influenced by dietary treatments. In conclusion, Se contents in eggs were linearly increased as dietary levels of organic or inorganic Se increased, but eggs in layers fed the diet containing organic Se did not show higher Se contents than those in birds fed dietary inorganic Se.

Water contents in fine particles at Seoul and Gosan are estimated by using a gas/particle equilibrium model, SCAPE (Simulating Composition of Atmospheric Particles at Equilibrium). Also, sensitivity of particulate inorganic ionic concentrations on the total ionic species is estimated. Water content at Gosan is more sensitive to ambient relative humidity (RH) than Seoul. At both sites water content is most sensitive to sulfate concentration among sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium. Solid salts levels and compositions are also studied.
Physicochemical properties of soil, mineral cyclings, production of plants, and relationship between sodium(Na) content and progresses of plant communities were studied in a coastal salt marsh in Incheon. Contents of Na, available phosphorus(A-P) and value of electric conductivity of soil decreased in order of Salicornia herbacea, Limonium tetragonum, Phragmites communis and Zoysia sinica communities, but contents of organic matter, total nitrogen(T-N) and calcium(Ca) of soil were vice versa. Specise diversity index decreased with increase of Na content of soil with correlation coefficient of -0.82. The aboveground biomass of plant communities were 2,981 g.dw/$m^2$ in P. communis, 1,471 g.dw/$m^2$ in Z. sinica, 189g.dw/$m^2$ in S. herbacea and 71 g.dw/$m^2$ L. tetragonum, respectively. Seasonal changes of contents of inorganic nutrients per unit land area coincided with those of biomass of plant communities, however, the maximum contents of K occured earlier than the maximum biomass. Amounts of inorganic nutrients absorbed by plant were directly proportion to its biomass and it was true to reverse in restored amounts of them to soil. In turnover times of nutrients of the communities, it took the shortest time for P but the longest for Ca and P. communis community took the shortest but L. tetragonum the longest. For example, in P. communis turover time of P took one year and that of Na 1,440 years. Lack of P element, therefore, was expected in this study area.
In order to interpret the effect of IAA on the phosphate metabolism and biosynthesis of organic compounds, Saccharomyces uvarum were cultured in the media treated with various concnetration of IAA $(10^{-3}M,\;10^{-5}M,\;10^{-7}M)$. Sampling at the beginning and intervals of culture, yeast cells fractionated were traced the contents of inorganic phosphate and organic compounds of various fractions. 1. Growth of Saccharomyces uvarum were enhanced by IAA $(10^{-3}M,\;10^{-5}M)$ and phosphate contents in DNA and RNA fractions treated with IAA were accelerated 2.3 times and 2 times in comparison with those of control. 2. Amounts of poly-P"A" and poly-p"B" were increased but poly-P"C" decreased during the culture. Therefore, it is considered that poly-P"C" play on most important role as a phosphate pool. 3. It is suggested that because phosphate contents in DNA, protein and lipid fractions increased, inorganic phosphates required phosphates required RNA were transferred from phosphates in cytoplasm, because these increased slowly during the culture. 4. Alkali-labile protein were accelerated by IAA and alkali stable protein only were inhibiction were enhanced by IAA while, ethanol : ether soluble fraction was induced by $10^{-7}M$ IAA in comparison with those control.X> IAA in comparison with those control.
Depth profiles of organic carbon (C), biogenic silica (Si), and inorganic phosphorus (P) in Maxwell bay sediments were determined to investigate paleoclimatic changes during Holocene. Organic C and biogenic Si contents generally show a down-core decrease trend, which appears to be mostly controlled by their vertical fluxes through productivity in the surface waters, but it is uncertain that inorganic P contents are directly influenced by productivity changes with time. Before 4000 yr B.p. marine productivity seemed to be almost zero because ice permanently covered the surface waters of the study area. As the climate started to become relatively warm at 4000 yr B.p., ice was sporadically melted in the surface waters and thereby marine productivity gradually increased until 1500 yr B.p. For the last 1500 year, marine productivity must be high enough to overcome the dilution by high terrigenous sedimentation, thus that period was the warmest during the last 6000 year.
