단일 유압 Cell로 제어되는 CPB(Cold Pad Batch)용 패더롤의 접촉압력 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of Contact Pressure for CPB (Cold Pad Batch) Padder Roll Controlled by Hydraulic Single Cell)

  • To make uniform pressure distributed over the contact surface was necessary to cold pad batch dyeing machine. In this study, to confirm characteristic of flexibility and the contact pressure distribution through experimental analysis of padder roll were controlled by hydraulic cell. When there were no load pressure only inner pressure, the value of displacement in the center of padder were greater than the end of the padder. The results of this study showed that the padder had the optimum value of inner pressure for uniform contact pressure distribution. Measuring the contact pressure in a padder system were driven by using a pre-scale film. Uniform contact pressure distribution of cell padder were a linearly with load pressure and inner pressure. When the load pressure was less than 8 tons, the inner pressure for the uniform contact pressure was 1~4 bar. The padder roll performance curves proposed in this study were available for practical production environments and various roll designs.

유체정압을 고려한 $9\%$ 니켈강재 내부탱크 바닥판의 설계 안정성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Design Safety of $9\%$ Nickel Based Inner Tank Bottom Plate in Terms of Hydrostatic Pressure)

  • 본 논문은 완전 밀폐방식의 LNG 저장탱크에서 $9\%$ 니켈강재로 제작된 내부탱크 바닥판의 응력과 변위량에 대한 거동특성을 제시하고 있다. 내부탱크에 LNG가 유입되면서 바닥판이 최대 유체정압을 받는 경우, 내부탱크의 바닥판에 걸리는 응력과 변위량 분포를 내부탱크 바닥판의 기울기, 환상판 두께와 길이의 설계함수로 고찰하였다. 계산 결과에 의하면, $140,000m^3$ 저장용량의 내부탱크에서 바닥판의 기울기는 100${\~}$200 : 1 정도로 최적화 설계를 하는 것이 응력특성 측면에서 우수하다. 또한, 내부탱크 환상판의 두께는 20mm 정도, 환상판의 길이는 3m 이상으로 설정하는 것이 저장탱크의 안정성을 확보할 수 있다.

  • In order to assess the reliability of the exhaust bellows for automobiles, accelerated life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, failure mechanism and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows; i) the main failure mechanism is crack or breakage of inner flexible tube by shaken displacement at shear direction. ii) temperature is a second factor to affect a failure. iii) the life distribution of exhaust bellows is fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the shape parameter is 13.3 on condition of shaken displacement and $600^{\circ}C$

Control of a Balance-Beam with Unknown Loads Using the Restoration Angle of a Gimbal

  • A controller built with the gyro effect for a balance-beam can freely control the attitude of an unstructured object by changing the position of an inner gimbal. In this paper, we propose a new balance-beam controller that can detect the inertia of the load to limit the velocity of the load commanded by a user. We found that when there was smaller load inertia, a larger restoration displacement occurred. Therefore, the load can be identified by issuing a predefined command to measure the restoration displacement, which enables us to construct a controller that can limit the angular velocity of the load by planning the motion. Experimental results show the performance of the controller with different loads.

반경하중을 받는 결함 볼베어링의 진동해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Vibration Analysis of Multi-components Damaged Ball Bearing under Radial Load)

  • In this paper an experimental review of condition monitoring method using time domain vibration signals and statically measured wave forms of a multi-components damaged ball bearing is presented first time. Many investigators studied already about vibration characteristics of a single point damaged ball bearing but they did not make efforts to verify vibration phenomena of a multi-components damaged one. Even in case of a tripple components damaged (i.e, outer race, inner race and rolling element) one, the high frequency resonance technique (HERT) and the displacement time domain technique can be also used for its fault detection. According to experimental results undertaken a static displacement measuring method, the defect locations of components can be proposed confidently with simple calculation of the rotating angles of each component.

  • 테이프 캐스팅법을 이용하여 알루미나/지르콘(반응결합 뮬라이트/지르코니아 유도)을 내부층으로 하고 알루미나/지르코니아 혹은 뮬라이트/지르코니아를 외부층으로 하는 산화물 층상 복합체를 고온가압소결법으로 제조하였다. 나노압입시험법을 이용하여 층상 산화물 복합체의 기계적 성질(경도 및 탄성계수)을 측정하고, SEM을 통하여 복합체의 미세구조를 관찰하였다. 산화물 층상 복합체의 제조를 위한 가열·냉각시 유도된 구성 산화물간의 열팽창 계수의 차이로 인하여 생성된 잔류응력을 하중-변위곡선을 이용하여 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The shape memory alloys (SMAs) are often used in smart materials and structures as the active components. Their ability to provide a high recovery force and a large displacement has been used in many applications. In this paper the radial displacement of an externally pressurized elliptic composite cylinder where SMA liner or strips actuators are bonded on its inner or outer surface is investigated numerically. The elliptic composite cylinders consisting of an inlet duct system with SMAs are designed and analyzed to determine the feasibility of such a system for the removal of stiffeners from an externally pressurized duct of an aircraft inlet. The deformations caused by prestrained SMAs placed on either surface of an elliptic composite cylinder are studied when activated. The externally pressurized elliptic composite cylinders with the SMA actuators were analyzed using the 3-D finite element method incorporated with 3-D SMA behaviors. The results show that the role of stiffeners may be switched by the activated light SMA actuators.

Jaya algorithm to solve single objective size optimization problem for steel grillage structures

  • The purpose of this paper is to present a new and efficient optimization algorithm called Jaya for optimum design of steel grillage structure. Constrained size optimization of this type of structure based on the LRFD-AISC is carried out with integer design variables by using cross-sectional area of W-shapes. The objective function of the problem is to find minimum weight of the grillage structure. The maximum stress ratio and the maximum displacement in the inner point of steel grillage structure are taken as the constraint for this optimization problem. To calculate the moment and shear force of the each member and calculate the joint displacement, the finite elements analysis is used. The developed computer program for the analysis and design of grillage structure and the optimization algorithm for Jaya are coded in MATLAB. The results obtained from this study are compared with the previous works for grillage structure. The results show that the Jaya algorithm presented in this study can be effectively used in the optimal design of grillage structures.

Enhanced generalized modeling method for compliant mechanisms: Multi-Compliant-Body matrix method

  • The multi-rigid-body matrix method (MRBMM) is a generalized modeling method for obtaining the displacements, forces, and dynamic characteristics of a compliant mechanism without performing inner-force analysis. The method discretizes a compliant mechanism of any type into flexure hinges and rigid bodies by implementing a multi-body mass-spring model using coordinate transformations in a matrix form. However, in this method, the deformations of bodies that are assumed to be rigid are inherently omitted. Consequently, it may yield erroneous results in certain mechanisms. In this paper, we present a multi-compliant-body matrix-method (MCBMM) that considers a rigid body as a compliant element, while retaining the generalized framework of the MRBMM. In the MCBMM, a rigid body in the MRBMM is segmented into a certain number of body nodes and flexure hinges. The proposed method was verified using two examples: the first (an XY positioning stage) demonstrated that the MCBMM outperforms the MRBMM in estimating the static deformation and dynamic mode. In the second example (a bridge-type displacement amplification mechanism), the MCBMM estimated the displacement amplification ratio more accurately than several previously proposed modeling methods.

강관압입후 슬롯 홀을 갖는 비개착 터널공법의 현장적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Sites Application of Non-open-cut Tunnel Method with Slot Holes in Steel Pipe Pumping)

  • In the study, a new non-open cut tunnel steel pipe method using slot hole has been developed. As is overcomes shortcomings of conventional methods, it is applied to the field. The main concept of the new method is the steel pipe pumping system with slot holes which, by means of formation slot holes between each steel pipe, applied to the magnitude of the relaxed earth pressure caused by excavation to the ground to prevent ground displacement. The stability of the support members and effect of displacement control of the new method were verified through several ways as numerical analysis and site test. The new method was applied to the construction of a 11.5m wide, 7.4m high and 50m long section that passes side subway and large buildings in inner city. By applying the new method, tunnel construction was successfully completed in 6 months. It decreases the construction period to 30% compared to that of conventional methods, and ground was almost negligible.
