Improved Gradient Direction Assisted Linking Algorithm for Linear Feature Extraction in High Resolution Satellite Images, an Iterative Dynamic Programming Approach

  • In this paper, an improved gradient direction assisted linking algorithm is proposed. This algorithm begins with initial seeds satisfying some local criteria. Then it will search along the direction provided by the initial point. A window will be generated in the gradient direction of the current point. Instead of the conventional method which only considers the value of the local salient structure, an improved mathematical model is proposed to describe the desired linear features. This model not only considers the value of the salient structure but also the direction of it. Furthermore, the linking problem under this model can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming method. This algorithm is tested for linear features detection in IKONOS images. The result demonstrates this algorithm is quite promising.

  • This study expands limitation of OASIS(Optimal Allocation of Spares for Initial Supports) program, which calculates CSP(Concurrent Spare Part), not only availability but also cost, and developed the program enabling run in WINDOW OS. By considering multi-step repair and logistics support system, repairing capability at the time of deployment, and procurement period, this model is the first local model reflecting circumstances of the armed forces of the Republic of Korea. Furthermore, the programmed model was selected as the military standard software and has being essentially used for CSP calculation.

그레디언트 히스토그램을 이용한 정합 창틀 크기의 자동적인 결정 (Automatic Determination of Matching Window Size Using Histogram of Gradient)

  • 본 논문에서는 1m 해상도의 위성 영상에서 스테레오 정합의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 그레디언트 히스토그램을 이용하여 정합 창틀의 크기를 자동적으로 결정하는 방법을 제안한다. 영상의 각 화소에 대해 4-neighbor에 위치한 화소의 수평 또는 수직 방향의 평균 그레디언트 값을 계산하여 평탄화 지수 영상(Flatness Index Image)을 생성한다. 강한 에지 화소는 높은 평탄화 지수를 가지며 반면에 비에지 화소의 경우에는 낮은 평탄화 지수를 가진다. 평탄화 지수 영상의 히스토그램을 이용하여 각 화소의 에지 또는 비에지 화소 여부를 결정하는 평탄화 임계값을 구한다. 각 화소의 평탄화 지수가 평탄화 임계값보다 크면 에지화소로, 작으면 비에지 화소로 분류한다. 초기 정합 창틀 내에 존재하는 비에지 화소의 비율이 작으면 밝기 값 변화가 적은 영역으로 판정하고 정합 창틀의 크기를 더 크게 설정하고 이 과정을 정합 창틀이 최대 크기에 도달할 때까지 반복적으로 수행한다. IKONOS 스테레오 위성영상을 실험영상으로 사용하였으며 고정크기의 정합 창틀을 이용한 방법에 비해 향상된 정합 결과를 얻었다.

Nano-Floating Gate Memory Devices with Metal-Oxide Nanoparticles in Polyimide Dielectrics

  • We fabricated nano-particles of ZnO, $In_2O_3$ and $SnO_2$ by using the chemical reaction between metal thin films and polyamic acid. The average size and density of these ZnO, $In_2O_3$ and $SnO_2$ nano-particles was approximately 10, 7, and 15 nm, and $2{\times}10^{11},\;6{\times}10^{11},\;2.4{\times}10^{11}cm^{-2}$, respectively. Then, we fabricated nano-floating gate memory (NFGM) devices with ZnO and $In_2O_3$ nano-particles embedded in the devices' polyimide dielectrics and silicon dioxide layers as control and tunnel oxides, respectively. We measured the current-voltage characteristics, endurance properties and retention times of the memory devices using a semiconductor parameter analyzer. In the $In_2O_3$ NFGM, the threshold voltage shift (${\Delta}V_T$) was approximately 5 V at the initial state of programming and erasing operations. However, the memory window rapidly decreased after 1000 s from 5 to 1.5 V. The ${\Delta}V_T$ of the NFGM containing ZnO was approximately 2 V at the initial state, but the memory window decreased after 1000 s from 2 to 0.4 V. These results mean that metal-oxide nano-particles have feasibility to apply NFGM devices.

Role of Nitric Oxide in Leukocyte-Endothelial Interaction in Cerebral Venules during Reperfusion after Global Ischemia

  • Objective : Reactive oxygen metabolites and polymorphonuclear leukocytes have been implicated in the pathophysiology of reperfusion injury. The mechanisms involved in superoxide-mediated leukocyte adherence remain unclear, however, nitric oxide[NO] may contribute to this response. The present study is undertaken to elucidate mechamisms controlling NO based mechanisms that regulated leukocyte-endothelial interactions in the cerebral vasculature after global cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. Methods : Pial venular leukocyte adherence of anesthetized newborn piglets was quantified by in situ fluorescence videomicroscopy through closed cranial windows during basal conditions and during 2hours of reperfusion after global ischemia induced by 9minutes of asphyxia. Nitric oxide synthase[NOS] was inhibited by local window superfusion of L-nitroarginine[NA]; superfusion of sodium nitroprusside[SNP] was used to donate NO. Results : The mean number of adherent leukocytes to cerebral venules in the 9minutes asphyxia and 2hours reperfusion group were $161{\pm}19$ compared with $13{\pm}4$ in the nonasphyxial group. Superfusion of L-NA through the cranial window for 2hours resulted in leukocyte adherence similar to that observed during the initial 2hours of reperfusion after asphyxia. Leukocyte adherence was not additionally increased in asphyxic animal treated with L-NA. SNP inhibited asphyxia induced leukocyte adherence back to control levels. Conclusions : Nitric oxide inhibits leukocyte adherence to cerebral venules during the initial hours of reperfusion after asphyxia, and that NO supplementation inhibit asphyxia induced leukocyte adherence back to control levels. These results indicate that NO is an important factor in ischemia-reperfusion induced leukocyte adherence.

고 안정화 프로터결정 실리콘 다층막 태양전지 (Highly Stabilized Protocrystalline Silicon Multilayer Solar Cells)

  • We have developed highly stabilized (p-i-n)-type protocrystalline silicon (pc-Si:H) multilayer solar cells. To achieve a high conversion efficiency, we applied a double-layer p-type amorphous silicon-carbon alloy $(p-a-Si_{1-x}C_x:H)$ structure to the pc-Si:H multilayer solar cells. The less pronounced initial short wavelength quantum efficiency variation as a function of bias voltage proves that the double $(p-a-Si_{1-x}C_x:H)$ layer structure successfully reduces recombination at the p/i interface. It was found that a natural hydrogen treatment involving an etch of the defective undiluted p-a-SiC:H window layer before the hydrogen-diluted p-a-SiC:H buffer layer deposition and an improvement of the order in the window layer. Thus, we achieved a highly stabilized efficiency of $9.0\%$ without any back reflector.

하이브리드 유전자알고리즘을 이용한 엄격한 시간제약 차량경로문제 (A Vehicle Routing Problem Which Considers Hard Time Window By Using Hybrid Genetic Algorithm)

  • 본 연구는 엄격한 시간제약 차량경로문제에 대하여 유전자알고리즘과 휴리스틱 기법을 이용하여 최적해를 산출하는 것이다. 문제해결을 위해 수리적 모형을 구성하고, ILOG-CPLEX를 이용하여 최적해를 산출하였다. 임의 생성방법과 세이빙 휴리스틱을 적용한 초기해 생성, 실행불가능해의 교정과 유전자 알고리즘 종료 후 2-opt, Or-opt 등 해교정 및 해개선을 위한 과정이 추가된 하이브리드 유전자 알고리즘을 구축하여 엄격한 시간제약이 있는 차량경로 문제에 적용하여 솔로몬 예제와 비교하고, 제안한 알고리즘의 해공간탐색능력, 수렴성, 휴리스틱 기법의 효과를 확인하였다.

초등학교 실내공간 디자인의 환경친화적 특성에 관한 연구 - 부산시와 오사카시 초등학교 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the ecological design elements of elementary school interior - Focused on the elementary schools of Osaka, Japan and Busan, Korea -)

  • This study explored how the elementary schools provided proper interior environments to the students in terms of ecological aspects. 14 cases-7 in Busan and 7 in Osaka which were newly built or remodelled since 2000 were selected. These schools were analyzed based on the eco-school guideline suggested In the former study. The guideline categorizes into three parts: 1) energy efficiency related with lighting, ventilation, heating and insulation, 2) greening, 3) sustainability including recycling water system and use of environmentally friendly materials. The results showed that Korean schools require more systematic planning for natural lighting, ventilation, Insulation, greening and new water system while Japanese schools need use of environmentally friendly materials and consideration for natural lighting, insulation and interior greening. Especially, natural lighting and natural ventilation through roof window, atrium, wind tower and use of natural insulation and blind window system should be basically considered at the Initial planning. Also, this study reveals that ecological approach including greening and natural lighting with various architectural form should be applied in future elementary school design to make the school environment more agreeable and economical.

Investigation of Endurance Degradation in a CTF NOR Array Using Charge Pumping Methods

  • We investigate the effect of interface states on the endurance of a charge trap flash (CTF) NOR array using charge pumping methods. The endurance test was completed from one cell selected randomly from 128 bit cells, where the memory window value after 102 program/erase (P/E) cycles decreased slightly from 2.2 V to 1.7 V. However, the memory window closure abruptly accelerated after 103 P/E cycles or more (i.e. 0.97 V or 0.7 V) due to a degraded programming speed. On the other hand, the interface trap density (Nit) gradually increased from 3.13×1011 cm−2 for the initial state to 4×1012 cm−2 for 102 P/E cycles. Over 103 P/E cycles, the Nit increased dramatically from 5.51×1012 cm−2 for 103 P/E cycles to 5.79×1012 cm−2 for 104 P/E cycles due to tunnel oxide damages. These results show good correlation between the interface traps and endurance degradation of CTF devices in actual flash cell arrays.

Classification of Textured Images Based on Discrete Wavelet Transform and Information Fusion

  • This paper aims to present a supervised classification algorithm based on data fusion for the segmentation of the textured images. The feature extraction method we used is based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT). In the segmentation stage, the estimated feature vector of each pixel is sent to the support vector machine (SVM) classifier for initial labeling. To obtain a more accurate segmentation result, two strategies based on information fusion were used. We first integrated decision-level fusion strategies by combining decisions made by the SVM classifier within a sliding window. In the second strategy, the fuzzy set theory and rules based on probability theory were used to combine the scores obtained by SVM over a sliding window. Finally, the performance of the proposed segmentation algorithm was demonstrated on a variety of synthetic and real images and showed that the proposed data fusion method improved the classification accuracy compared to applying a SVM classifier. The results revealed that the overall accuracies of SVM classification of textured images is 88%, while our fusion methodology obtained an accuracy of up to 96%, depending on the size of the data base.
