  • The aim of this study was to investigate upper and lower limb muscle activity using EMG(electromyogram) sensors while walking and identify normal gait pattern using FSR(force sensing resistor) sensor. Fifteen college students participated in this study and their EMG and FSR signal were measured during stopping and walking trials. EMG signals from upper(pectoralis major and trapezius) and lower limbs(rectus femoris, biceps femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, soleus, peroneus longus, gastrocnemius medialis, and gastrocnemius lateralis) were obtained using the surface electrodes. FSR measured pressures on 8 areas of the sole of the foot during walking. EMG results showed that all muscle activities except for vastus lateralis and semimembranosus during walking had higher amplitudes than stopping. Additionally, muscle activities associated with stance and swing phase during walking were identified. Results on FSR showed that stance and swing phases were detected by FSR signals during a gait cycle. Eight gait phases-initial contact, loading response, mid stance, terminal stance, pre swing, initial swing, mid swing, and terminal swing- were classified.

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationship between negative emotion and obesity and provide adequate information to enable effective nursing intervention in elderly. Participants were 216 elderly who had been attending two geriatric welfare facilities in Chungbuk. The data were collected between 14 and 30 August, 2017 with a structured questionnaire and body measurement. The questionnaires were CES-D, RULS, BPS and collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher' exact tests, Pearson's correlation, and logistic regression with SPSS/WIN 22.0. The mean BMI of participants was $23.59{\pm}3.48$ and the prevalence of obesity was 31.9%. Significant differences were observed in age (${\chi}^2=8.16$, p=.003), gender (${\chi}^2=9.27$, p=.002), smoking (${\chi}^2=7.78$, p=.004), depression (t=2.54, p=.012) and social isolation (t=2.98, p=.003) between the normal and obesity groups. Depression (OR,1.04; 95% CI, 1.00-1.09) and social isolation (OR, 1.06; 95% CI, 1.02-1.11) was associated with an increased risk obesity. Therefore, it was necessary to measure and quantify the depression and social isolation for weight management among the elderly. Moreover, it is necessary to develop health promotion programs and nursing intervention, including the need for physical, mental, and social relationships.

  • Providing personalized services customized to users' needs and preferences becomes highlighted as a key area of user-context computing. It is essential for context-aware technology to be developed more intelligent and meaningful services by being widely applied to a variety of sectors and domains. SDO (Standard Development Organization) such as MPEG and W3C has been actively developed to be standardized services and to improve context-awareness services. Yet current standards related to context-aware technology, such as MPEG-7, MPEG-21, MPEG-V, and emotionML, are not capable enough to support various systems and diverse services. Against this backdrop, the MPEG User Description, referred to also as MPEG-UD Standard, is to ensure interoperability among recommendation services, which take into account user's context when generating recommendations to users. In this light, we introduce standards related to the user context and propose the structure for RD-Engine and the Remote Responsive User Interface(RRUI) system in reference to MPEG-UD. This system collects unit resources matching specific condition according to the user's contexts described by MPEG-UD. In so doing, it improves adaptive user interface considering device features in real-time. By automatically generating adaptive user interfaces tailored to an individual's contexts, the proposed system aims to achieve high-quality user experience for a complex service.

  • Developing good methods for image description and indexing is fundamental for successful image retrieval, regardless of the content of images. Researchers and practitioners in the field of image indexing have developed a variety of image indexing systems and methods with the consideration of information types delivered by images. Such efforts in developing image indexing systems and methods include Panofsky's levels of image indexing and indexing systems adopting different approaches such as thesauri-based approach, classification approach. description element-based approach, and categorization approach. This study investigated users' perception of the objectiveness of image indexing, especially the iconographical analysis of image information advocated by Panofsky. One of the best examples of subjectiveness and conditional-dependence of image information is emotion. As a result, this study dealt with visual emotional information. Experiments were conducted in two phases : one was to measure the degree of agreement or disagreement about the emotional content of pictures among forty-eight participants and the other was to examine the inter-rater consistency defined as the degree of users' agreement on indexing. The results showed that the experiment participants made fairly subjective interpretation when they were viewing pictures. It was also found that the subjective interpretation made by the participants resulted from the individual differences in terms of their educational or cultural background. The study results emphasize the importance of developing new ways of indexing and/or searching for images, which can alleviate the limitations of access to images due to the subjective interpretation made by different users.

  • Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) differ fundamentally, with AR overlaying computer-generated information onto the real world in a nonimmersive way. Despite extensive research on cybersickness in VR, its occurrence in AR has received less attention (Vovk et al., 2018). This study examines cybersickness and discomfort associated with AR usage, focusing on the impact of content intensity and exposure time. Participants viewed 30-minute racing simulation game clips through AR equipment, varying in racing speed to alter content intensity. Cybersickness was assessed subjectively using the Simulator sickness questionnaire (SSQ; Kennedy et al., 1993). Findings revealed a progressive increase in cybersickness with longer exposure, persisting even after removing the AR equipment. Contrarily, content intensity did not significantly influence cybersickness levels. Analysis of the SSQ subscales revealed higher oculomotor (O) scores compared to nausea (N) and disorientation (D), suggesting that discomfort primarily stemmed from oculomotor strain. The study highlights distinct differences in user experience between AR and VR, specifically in subjective responses.

  • As the privacy issues are all around the world, the intrusion into personal privacy is concerning. For that reason, government established the article from the personal information protection law that has to notice the privacy policy to users on the online site. and the matter of privacy invasion make concern toward behavior of online user. Although there are rules to carrying legal binding force in accordance with, because it is full of text and uncomfortable to read so that its readability is low. In the same context, each other has different state of understanding with the policy for personal information has been playing an important role. In this approach, companies and government do not think this over deeply and do just for what their practical use is. That is the reason why this research start, and the result expecting for real. As the result in the participant who cognize the privacy policy display pattern, they have certain type to do. In this article, the certain behavior doing is remarkable with the privacy policy. According to privacy concern, privacy fundamentalist reveals such a compromise reaction to protect their information when they know what information which the privacy manager of service provider collect. This study arrives at the result depending on the gap of privacy group that the group of checking the policy contents, especially the group which has high privacy concern, they move forward to protect their emotion and put a constructive plan into protective action. Otherwise, the group of unchecking the policy contents and following their own thinking of privacy policy are not deemed statistically significant. Therefore, this is considered to support more various implications than the previous issues and alternatives about privacy policy pattern and user protection behavior of privacy.

  • From a historical perspective of risk communication, risks can be classified by their associated level of responsibility. In the case of technical risks such as hazardous chemical accidents, people perceive that risk-related organizations have a high level of responsibility; however, they do not in traditional risks such as natural disasters. This study aims to examine risk information seeking and processing, as seen in two types of risk, based on the Risk Information Seeking and Processing(RISP) model. For this purpose, hypotheses and a research question are developed with current domestic risk issues, and the results show significant differences in risk information seeking and processing between the two types of risk. Specifically, in the case of the chemical spill accident, negative emotion against relevant institutions makes different information seeking and processing compared to the natural disaster. The low level responsibility risk such as typhoon comparatively follows the flow of the original RISP model. However, the high level responsibility risk such as the hydrofluoric acid spill did not match with the RISP model. Based on the research results, theoretical implications were discussed.

  • This study employed driving simulation to examine how takeover request (TOR) information modalities (visual, auditory, and visual + auditory) in Level-3 automated vehicles, and road types (straight and curved) influence the driver's control takeover time (TOT) and mental workload, assessed through subjective workload and heart rate variations. The findings reveal several key points. First, visual TOR resulted in the quickest TOT, while auditory TOR led to the longest. Second, TOT was considerably slower on curved roads compared to straight roads, with the greatest difference observed under the auditory TOR condition. Third, the auditory TOR condition generally induced lower subjective workload and heart rate variability than the visual or visual + auditory conditions. Finally, significant heart rate changes were predominantly observed in curved road conditions. These outcomes indicate that TOT and mental workload levels in drivers are influenced by both the TOR modality and road geometry. Notably, a faster TOT is associated with increased mental workload.

  • Recently, as the number of multicultural families and foreigners living in korea increase, the proportion of various types of families and middle-admitted youths is increasing. These youths are less educated than their domestic counterparts, and their conversation time with their family members is relatively weak. Therefore, there is a need for a specialized education system for education and socialization. Immigration background among middle-admitted adolescents, children arrived in korea regardless of their will, with socialization already in the country where they were born, it is a reality that various difficulties are experienced in the socialization of korea society about language, education, emotion and employment. For this reason, some of the migrant background youths are pointed out as a big problem of the multicultural society, which is 18% of the NEET(Not in Education, Employment or Training) classes, which are not educated and are not willing to find jobs or employment. Therefore, in this study, we identified the problems of middle-admitted children of multicultural families as the number of middle-admitted adolescents increased, and suggested the necessary ways for them to achieve rapid socialization and settlement in korea society. For this purpose, we analyzed the problem of education of middle-admitted children as a discriminative approach which is different from general support method for middle-admitted children presented in previous reaearch, since then, we have presented an alternative to carry out realistic, systematic and successful education considering the characteristics of the region centered on the middle-admitted youths of Gwangju city.

  • As the business ecosystem has become more uncertain, the sources of supply chain risk have also been becoming more diverse. In particular, due to the development of informational technology in recent years, firms need to consider the emerging supply chain risk sources as well as traditional supply chain risk sources. A typical example is negative word-of-mouth by social media. Therefore, we investigated the virality of negative word-of-mouth on manufacturing firms by using YouTube as a representative social media. More specifically, we investigated how the social capital of the video creator influences the virality of negative word-of-mouth and how the emotional tone of the video affects the virality of negative word-of-mouth. In conclusion, the social capital of the video creator influenced the scale and speed of negative word-of-mouth. Furthermore, negative emotion words moderated the relation between the social capital of the video creator and the scale of negative word-of-mouth.
