  • An economic feasibility study is performed for the wind power generation with the examination of the wind speed and its distribution at Daekwanryung at which a wind fm is under construction. In this analysis, the distribution of wind speed is the key issue. The wind distribution which is usually expressed in terms of Weibull distribution with shape factor and scale factor needs to be reexamined to find the proper values of them according to the empirical wind speed data. After this kind of analysis is done, annual power generation of wind is calculated. Due to the lack of cost information, we applied EWEA data instead or the actual information from the site. The result would be of use to determine the 'reference price' of wind power under the current system of 'compensating subsidy for renewable power generation'.

  • As wireless sensor networks are applied to various applications such as environment monitoring and disaster sensing system, there are increased needs for wireless communication in underground environment. Since the previous wireless communication technology using electromagnetic wave is not appropriate for the underground environment, a new alternative is required. Recently a magnetic field communication technology has been proposed and standardized as a domestic KS standard. In this paper, we analyze the media access control protocol of the KS standard by an analysis and a simulation study.

  • Currently, the operation of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is regulated to be able to fly only within the visible range, but in recent years, the needs for operation in the invisible area, in the urban area and at night have increased. In order to operate UAVs in the invisible area, at night, and in the urban area, a flight path for UAVs must be prepared like those operated by manned aircraft, and for this, it is necessary to establish an unmanned aircraft system traffic management (UTM). In order to establish the UTM, information on the minimum separation distance to prevent collisions with UAVs and buildings is required, and accordingly, information on the navigation performance of UAVs is required. In order to analyze the navigation performance of an UAV, total system error (TSE), which is the difference between the planned flight path and the actual location of the UAV, is required. If the collected data are insufficient and classification according to integrity, independence, and direction is not performed, accurate navigation performance is not derived. In this paper, propose a navigation performance analysis method of UAV that is derived TSE using flight data and modeled with normal distribution, analyze performance.

  • The visual presentation is one key feature which gives much consideration in designing mobile applications as it acquires attention from the end user. It takes only a few milliseconds to form an impression on a person and this is not any different to the web and mobile application designs. The first few milliseconds are a crucial time for developers as the impression produced would indicate further engagement of the service. Developers should continuously update the designs based on human needs. A few of these contents have actually paved its way to being continuously used. By synthesizing results of preceding researchers, this paper considers layout, color, and font as UI design elements of SNS messenger, and illustration and animation as the graphic image of it. In this study, the preference for messaging application chat layout was being surveyed and analyzed. As a result, there has been little significance identified since the instant messaging, so chat layout shows very minimal variance in their design.

  • PURPOSE. Accurate information is essential in dentistry. The image information of missing teeth is used in optically based medical equipment in prosthodontic treatment. To evaluate oral scanners, the standardized model was examined from cases of image recognition errors of linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and a model that combines the variables with reference to ISO 12836:2015 was designed. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The basic model was fabricated by applying 4 factors to the tooth profile (chamfer, groove, curve, and square) and the bottom surface. Photo-type and video-type scanners were used to analyze 3D images after image capture. The scans were performed several times according to the prescribed sequence to distinguish the model from the one that did not form, and the results confirmed it to be the best. RESULTS. In the case of the initial basic model, a 3D shape could not be obtained by scanning even if several shots were taken. Subsequently, the recognition rate of the image was improved with every variable factor, and the difference depends on the tooth profile and the pattern of the floor surface. CONCLUSION. Based on the recognition error of the LDA, the recognition rate decreases when the model has a similar pattern. Therefore, to obtain the accurate 3D data, the difference of each class needs to be provided when developing a standardized model.

  • In this paper we present a simple and efficient robust optimal design formulation and its application to a resonant-type micro probe. The basic idea is to use the Gradient Index (GI) to improve robustness of the objective and constraint functions. In the robust optimal design procedure, a deterministic optimization for performance of MEMS structures is followed by design sensitivity analysis with respect to uncertainties such as fabrication errors and change of operating conditions. During the process of deterministic optimization and sensitivity analysis, dominant performance and uncertain variables are identified to define GI. The GI is incorporated as a term of objective and constraint functions in the robust optimal design formulation to make both performance and robustness improved. While most previous approaches for robust optimal design require statistical information on design variations, the proposed GI based method needs no such information and therefore is cost-efficient and easily applicable to early design stages. For the micro probe example, robust optimums are obtained to satisfy the targets for the measurement sensitivity and they are compared in terms of robustness and production yield with the deterministic optimums through the Monte Carlo simulation.

  • DRS (Disaster Recovery System) that was invested on a large-scale becomes obsolete when it is neglected for a certain Period of time. Also the DRS can not be accomplished through the duplicated computer systems. When a disaster happens, the normal operation is possible only if the processes that had been being done before the disaster recover without any loss. Therefore the DRS is not a IT project but needs an analysis of whole business Processes and business continuity plans. This paper analyze the present state of DRS of the domestic bank industry and suggests a remedy.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and implement web-based quality cost management system to measure the performance of quality improvement activities in the business firms. The designed web-based quality cost management system which is also known as WQCMS (Web-based Q-Cost Management System) utilized newly classified objective performance indicator items to measure quality related activities. Well-classified performance measurement Indicator item lists which are played key role in the system was researched and standardized according to size and business categories of enterprise. Its code standards are based from fundamental PAF Model. Developed WQCMS have ability to collect and analyze quality data generated from various different departments in the inside or outside of the enterprise without any limitations, if end-users are able to access wide area network. It provides the capability to integrate quality information from database and to generate various easy analysis reports to management's needs using built-in analysis tool modules with real-time. The proposed system was developed using Microsofi's .Net technology, ASP.NET and MS-SQL Server 2000. By web-enabling Q-cost management system, the effectiveness of the system management and utilization was realized by easiness of information Integration and economical efficiency.

  • Geis (1973) has provided various properties of the subjects and by + Gerund Phrase (GerP) in English causative constructions. Among them, the two main issues of Geis's analysis are as follows: unlike Lakoff (1965; 1966), the subject of English causative constructions, including causative-inchoative verbs such as liquefy, first of all, should be acts or events, not persons, and the by + GerP in the construction is a complement of the causative verbs. In addition to these issues, Geis has provided various data exhibiting other idiosyncratic properties and proposed some transformational rules such as the Agent Creation Rule and rule orderings to explain them. Against Geis's claim, I propose that English causative verbs require either Proper nouns or GerP subjects and that the by + GerP in the constructions as a Verbal Modifier needs Gerunds, whose understood Affective-agent subject is identical to the subject of causative verbs with respect to the semantic index value. This enables us to solve the two main issues. At the same time, the other properties Geis mentioned also can be easily accounted for in Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG) by positing a few lexical constraints. On this basis, it is shown that given the few lexical constraints and existing grammatical tools in HPSG, the constraint-based analysis proposed here gives a simpler explanation of the properties of English causative constructions provided by Geis without transformational rules and rule orderings.

  • On large-scale data analysis platforms deployed on cloud infrastructures over the Internet, the instability of the data transfer time and the dynamics of the processing rate require a more sophisticated data distribution scheme which maximizes parallel efficiency by achieving the balanced load among participated computing elements and by eliminating the idle time of each computing element. In particular, under the constraints that have the real-time and limited data buffer (in-memory storage) are given, it needs more controllable mechanism to prevent both the overflow and the underflow of the finite buffer. In this paper, we propose an auto regulated data provisioning model based on receiver-driven data pull model. On this model, we provide a synchronized data replenishment mechanism that implicitly avoids the data buffer overflow as well as explicitly regulates the data buffer underflow by adequately adjusting the buffer resilience. To estimate the optimal size of buffer resilience, we exploits an adaptive buffer resilience control scheme that minimizes both data buffer space and idle time of the processing elements based on directly measured sample path analysis. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides allowable approximation compared to the numerical results. Also, it is suitably efficient to apply for such a dynamic environment that cannot postulate the stochastic characteristic for the data transfer time, the data processing rate, or even an environment where the fluctuation of the both is presented.
