Control Banding (CB) strategies to prevent work-related illness and injury for 2.5 billion workers without access to health and safety professionals has grown exponentially this last decade. CB originates from the pharmaceutical industry to control active pharmaceutical ingredients without a complete toxicological basis and therefore no occupational exposure limits. CB applications have broadened into chemicals in general - including new emerging risks like nanomaterials and recently into ergonomics and injury prevention. CB is an action-oriented qualitative risk assessment strategy offering solutions and control measures to users through "toolkits". Chemical CB toolkits are user-friendly approaches used to achieve workplace controls in the absence of firm toxicological and quantitative exposure information. The model (technical) validation of these toolkits is well described, however firm operational analyses (implementation aspects) are lacking. Consequentially, it is often not known if toolkit use leads to successful interventions at individual workplaces. This might lead to virtual safe workplaces without knowing if workers are truly protected. Upcoming international strategies from the World Health Organization Collaborating Centers request assistance in developing and evaluating action-oriented procedures for workplace risk assessment and control. It is expected that to fulfill this strategy's goals, CB approaches will continue its important growth in protecting workers.
Crack is the most common typical feature of concrete deterioration, so routine monitoring and health assessment become essential for identifying failures and to set up an appropriate rehabilitation strategy in order to extend the service life of concrete structures. At present, image segmentation algorithms have been applied to crack analysis based on inspection images of concrete structures. The results of crack segmentation offering crack information, including length, width, and area is helpful to assist inspectors in surface inspection of concrete structures. This study proposed an algorithm of image segmentation enhancement, named morphological segmentation based on edge detection-II (MSED-II), to concrete crack segmentation. Several concrete pavement and building surfaces were imaged as the study materials. In addition, morphological operations followed by cross-curvature evaluation (CCE), an image segmentation technique of linear patterns, were also tested to evaluate their performance in concrete crack segmentation. The result indicates that MSED-II compared to CCE can lead to better quality of concrete crack segmentation. The least area, length, and width measurement errors of the concrete cracks are 5.68%, 0.23%, and 0.00%, respectively, that proves MSED-II effective for automatic measurement of concrete cracks.
The university assessment of Industrial point of view that is the evaluation of university's outcomes was started in 2008 to find out university's social and industrial contribution rate by evaluating the added value of raising up competent people and technical development through university courses. The growth of mobile technology particularly smartphone applications such as ticketing, access control, and making payments are on the increase. Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC)-based systems have also become widely available in the market offering various convenient services by bringing smartphones in proximity to ECC-enabled objects. When a system user attempts to establish a connection, the AIK sends hashes to a server that then verifies the values. ECC can be used with various operating systems in conjunction with other technologies such as biometric verification systems, smart cards, anti-virus programs, and firewalls. The use of Elliptic-curve cryptography ensures efficient verification and signing of security status verification reports which allows the system to take advantage of Trusted Computing Technologies. This paper proposes a device payment method based on ECC and Shuffling based on distributed key exchange. Our study focuses on the secure and efficient implementation of ECC in payment device. This novel approach is well secure against intruders and will prevent the unauthorized extraction of information from communication. It converts plaintext into ASCII value that leads to the point of curve, then after, it performs shuffling to encrypt and decrypt the data to generate secret shared key used by both sender and receiver.
Objectives: In order to cope with the quality and the substantiality issues in long-term care for the elderly, we should have a wider view of long-term system components based on the understanding of health care organizations, management services, support for care providers and beneficiaries, education of the workforce, and management of finance and resources. Methods: For resolving the issues raised and offering guidance in the area of long-term care, we reviewed 20 reports and documents of the government and government-related institutions using the Internet home pages of the Australian government and the related organizations in the health care sector. These organizations are undergoing a huge system reform to implement consumer-directed care since 2015, in the areas of service, resources, finances, organization, and management. Results and conclusions: The study outcomes can have some implications for the long-term care system in Korea based on the differences in the service components. The results can provide basic information for improving the long-term care service, and can have several other implications for long-term care in Korea.
Numerous scholars have explored the modeling, control, and optimization of energy systems in buildings, offering new insights about technology and environments that can advance industry innovation. Eye trackers deliver objective eye-gaze data about visual and attentional processes. Due to its flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency in research, eye tracking has a control scheme that makes measuring rapid eye movement in three-dimensional space possible (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality). Because eye movement is an effective modality for digital interaction with a virtual environment, tracking how users scan a visual field and fix on various digital objects can help designers optimize building environments and materials. Although several scholars have conducted Virtual Reality studies in three-dimensional space, scholars have not agreed on a consistent way to analyze eye tracking data. We conducted eye tracking experiments using objects in three-dimensional space to find an objective way to process quantitative visual data. By applying a 12 × 12 grid framework for eye tracking analysis, we investigated how people gazed at objects in a virtual space wearing a headmounted display. The findings provide an empirical base for a standardized protocol for analyzing eye tracking data in the context of virtual environments.
Purpose: Technology induces the virtual distribution channel to exist, especially for booking a room online. This situation, indeed, provides an alternative for the customers to book based on their budget through digital platforms. One platform offering competitive prices is virtual hotel operators, such as Airbnb, OYO, RedDoorz, and Airy Rooms. Preferably, after using their platform, the user should be satisfied and loyal. Hence, this investigation aims to prove some associations. The first is between e-satisfaction and e-loyalty. The second is between website quality and e-satisfaction. The final is between website quality and e-loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology: This study is quantitatively designed with the sample of 350 users of the virtual hotel operator applications in Bandar Lampung: Airbnb, OYO, RedDoorz, and Airy, as the samples. Generation MZ has emerged as a significant consumer segment and trendsetter in the fashion market of South Korea. Fashion designer brands have become popular among this generation by offering a range of fashion content on social network services (SNS) based on fresh and trendy designs. Despite the growing market share of fashion designer brands in the industry, previous research has mainly focused on brand personality in line with the characteristics of traditional fashion brands. Therefore, this study aims to derive brand personality and SNS characteristics of fashion designer brands based on previous research and investigate the influence of these factors on brand preference and behavioral intention. Moreover, it examines how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the consumer type (i.e., innovative type vs. price-sensitive type). Based on an online survey of 256 Korean adults with experience in fashion designer brands, this study identified the influencing mechanisms on purchase intention and word-of-mouth intention. This study contributes to empirical investigations of consumer brand preference and behavior intention in fashion designer brands through the brand equity model. It also offers insight into developing a segmented brand strategy by considering the variations in the influence mechanism of behavioral intention across different consumer types.
