본 연구는 특정상황에 가장 적합한 조직형태를 모색하는 상황이론에 입각하여 도서관조직에 영향을 미치는 상황변수를 밝히고, 밝혀진 변수로 상황모델을 설정하여 도서관조직의 유효성을 증가시킬 수 있는 방향을 제시하고 있다.

국립중앙도서관은 이용자의 효율적인 이용과 정보전달을 목적으로 각종 사인(sign)을 설치 운영하고 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 국립중앙도서관의 기존 사인에 대한 현황 분석과 이용자 및 직원 대상으로 만족도 조사를 실시하였다. 이를 토대로 이용자의 효율적 도서관 이용 안내와 국립중앙도서관 사인시스템의 개선을 위한 운영방안으로 시각적 연속성의 개선, 설치 위치의 변경, 과다한 사인물의 축소, 임시 부착 사인물의 제한, 알아보기 쉬운 내용 등을 제언하였다.

U-도서관 서비스는 기존에 방문을 통해서만 가능했던 도서 대출 반납서비스를 인터넷, 스마트폰 등으로 도서를 검색해 예약신청하고, 가까운 지하철역 등에 설치된 무인대출기를 통해 수령 및 반납할 수 있도록 하는 이용자 중심의 도서관서비스이다. 그러나 U-도서관 서비스는 양적이나 질적으로 아직도 초기단계에 머물고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문은 U-도서관 서비스에 대한 이해를 높이고 활성화에 일조하기 위하여 무인대출서비스에 대하여 조사 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 첫째, 무인대출서비스의 발전과정을 살펴보고 무인대출서비스에 영향을 주는 요인들에 관한 조사를 통하여 무인대출서비스에 대한 개념을 구체화하고자 하였다. 둘째, 현재 무인대출서비스를 시행하고 있는 도서관을 조사하여 무인대출서비스의 현황을 조사하였다. 셋째, 무인대출서비스를 시행하는 도서관의 운영과정과 문제점 등을 조사하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 무인대출서비스의 활성화 방안을 제안하였다.

This study is on the history of classification in Western library from ancient to Harris(1870), before Dewey. It looks into the classification systems of librarians, bibliographers, booksellers and libraries of that time. One of the earliest was the classification of the clay tablets in the Assyrian library of Assurbanipal. But the earliest recorded system in the papyrus is that which Callimachus(B.C. 310-240) devised for the library at Alexandria. In the medival, the monastry libraries used many classifications. but their libraries were very small. Gesner, Naude, Brunet, Jefferson, Edwards, Harris etc. tried to make a good classification for bibliographies and libraries. Especially Brunet made the scheme based on the French system, and it used on bibliographical classification and shelf classification in the many libraries. In 1859, Edwards made the classification scheme for the public library in the Great Britain. In 1870, Harris made the famous inverted Baconian classification and it strongly influenced the Dewey Decimal Classification.

This study intends to understand the change of the library's bookshelves shape, composition and arrangement based on the social-culture in each period. For this purpose, this study analyzes the morphological shift of the library's bookshelves and knowledge information focused on the history of western libraries from the ancient libraries to the modern public libraries before the 20th century. And the results are follows. 1) We can make sure that the changes of the library's bookshelves are based on the environmental factors like social cultural political factors and also understand that the knowledge information are developed based on the function which is decided by the needs of the times and the serious necessities of users. With this reason, the morphology and the function of the library's bookshelves have been changed. 2) The characters and meanings of the library's bookshelves are changed with the times from movable type to fixed type, from closing type to opening type, from privileged use to public use, from religious contents to general scientific contents. 3) The morphology of the library's bookshelves are shifted from cylindrical box to Chest type Press type and Lectern system, Stall system, Wall system and advanced to Mixed(Stall+Wall) system. 4) The construction and arrangement methods of the library's bookshelves are determined by the convenience and efficiency of the installation for the perusal environments as well as the regarding to the social-cultural factors. The arrangement criteria are determined by the security topics in the earlier stage, after that determined by the lightening topics and nowadays the access topics to the information. These analysis results are very useful to research the technology of the library's bookshelves to be changed continuously and also to forecast the morphology of the library's bookshelves can be planned in the spaces of the future libraries.

This is to report the objectives, planning and the process of the establishment of an on-line information retrieval system in Korea. The model is the case of the Library of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) which is the multi-disciplinary contract research organization in science and technology. The report explains the objectives and the step by step process such as input materials, analysis of the materials, structure of the data base files, indexes, command language, and the process, technique and logic of information retrieval. A brief comparison is made with other systems such as OCLC and BALLOTS and the authors gave various illustrations and samples to clarify the processes. The authors regrets that they could not give any detailed information on the budget or the cost accrued so far.

도서관 및 정보센터에서 고객의 요구사항을 분석하고 고객이 기대하는 정보서비스 수준에 이르도록 상호 유기적인 프로세스를 시스템 경영을 통해 접근하는 방법이 품질경영시스템이다. 본 연구는 국제적인 품질경영시스템인 ISO 9000 인증제도의 이론적 고찰과 ISO 9000 인증제도의 변천과 인증 추이를 조사하였다. 아울러 이를 국내 도서관 및 정보센터에 효율적으로 적용할 수 있도록 ISO 9000패밀리 규격을 검토하여 도서관 및 정보센터에서 품질경영시스템 인증을 위한 절차와 요구사항을 제시하였고, 도서관 및 정보센터에서의 품질경영시스템 모형을 제시하였다.

디지털 네트워크 환경 하에서 정보이용자의 지식$\cdot$정보의 창출을 도모하고 국가경쟁력을 제고하기 위해서는 도서관간 디지털 복제$\cdot$전송은 필수적이다. 도서관간의 디지털 복제$\cdot$전송에 의한 정보의 공동이용 정책에 절대적인 영향력을 미치는 것은 저작권법상의 도서관 면책 규정이다. 먼저 국제규범(베른협약, TRIPs협정, WCT)과 미국, 유럽연합의 저작권 제한과 예외 규정을 분석하였다. 이어서 우리나라 2003년 개정저작권법상 도서관 면책 규정의 관련 규정, 도서관 보상금 제도, 권리 보호 조치 등의 내용을 집중 분석하였다. 그와 관련하여 제기되는 문제점도 논의하였다. 끝으로 본 연구 결과를 기초로 하여 도서관간 디지털 복제$.$전송에 의한 정보의 공동이용 활성화를 위하여 개정된 저작권법에 대한 도서관의 현실적인 조치와 대응방안을 제시하였다.

본 연구는 서고 내부에서 이용자가 목표지에 보다 능률적으로 도달할 수 있도록 하기 위한 서고 Sign System의 구체적 적용에 대한 사례 및 과정을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 S대학 중앙도서관의 서고 구조, Sign 현황, 이용자 관찰, 이용자 선호조사, 시안제작 등의 절차를 거쳐 도서관 서고 현장에 새로운 Sign을 적용하였다. 상세한 제작과정 및 이용자의 반응을 파악하고, 추후 대형 도서관 서고 Sign 제작 시 보완되어야 할 사항 등을 제언하였다.

교육안전자원부에서는 학교별 자원공유와 상호대차 여건 조성, 단위 학교 데이터베이스 구축의 효율성 도모, 단위 학교 목록 데이터 입력 및 시스템 관리부담 경감 등을 목적으로 인터넷 기반 학교도서관 정보시스템을 구축 운영 중에 있다. 이 시스템은 기존의 MARC데이터는 물론 다양한 형식의 네트워크 자원을 수용하고 누구나 쉽게 적용할 수 있도록 더블린 코아(DC)를 기반으로 한 고유 메타데이터(DLS-I)를 사용하고 있다. 이는 데이터 구조의 간략화와 동시에 주제 영역의 특성을 반영할 수 있는 DC를 채택함으로써 학교도서관의 주요 서비스 중의 하나인 독서교육에 필요한 각종 데이터를 체계적으로 기술, 활용할 수 있는 여건이 조성되어 있음에도 불구하고 이를 고려하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 학교도서관 정보시스템은 서지적 요소이외에 독서 관련 정보를 체계적으로 기술해야할 필요성을 언급하고 독서 관련 데이터 요소를 추출하고 이를 인터넷 기반 학교도서관 정보시스템(DLS-I)에 추가, 확장 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.
