  • This paper suggests the techniques in determining the values of the steady-state equivalent circuit parameters of a three-phase induction machine using genetic algorithm. The parameter estimation procedure is based on the steady-state phase current versus slip and input power versus slip characteristics. The propose estimation algorithm is of non-linear kind based on selection in genetic algorithm. The machine parameters are obtained as the solution of a minimization of objective function by genetic algorithm. Simulation shows good performance of the propose procedures.

  • This paper proposes a new diagnosis algorithm to detect broken rotor bars (BRBs) faults in induction motors. The proposed algorithm is composed of a frequency signal dimension order (FSDO) estimator and a fault decision module. The FSDO estimator finds a number of fault-related frequencies in the stator current signature. In the fault decision module, the fault diagnostic index from the FSDO estimator is used depending on the load conditions of the induction motors. Experimental results obtained in a 75 kW three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor show that the proposed diagnosis algorithm is capable of detecting BRB faults with an accuracy that is superior to a zoom multiple signal classification (ZMUSIC) and a zoom estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques (ZESPRIT).

  • Application of matrix converter to vector control of induction motor using simplified Venturini algorithm which is capable of achieving the maximum output voltage is developed. This algorithm simplifies the control algorithm and therefor reduces the digital implementation time. Matrix converter is used as voltage-referenced voltage fed vector controlled induction motor drive. This paper describes the performance of vector controlled induction motor with four quadrant capability employing a matrix converter power circuit. The advantage of this system over the conventional rectifier-inverter arrangement are capability for regeneration into the utility, sinusoidal supply currents and minimum passive components. The steady-state and transient performance of the induction motor drive under the vector control technique is demonstrate with simulation and experiment results.

  • In order to realize the speed control of an induction motor, the information of the rotor speed is needed. So the speed sensor as an encoder or a pulse generator is used to obtain it. But the use of speed sensor occur the some problems in the control system of an induction motor. To solve the problems, the appropriate speed estimation algorithm is used instead of the speed sensor. Also there is the limitation to improve the speed control performance of an induction motor using the existing speed estimation algorithm. Therefore, in this paper, intelligent speed estimator using Fuzzy-Neural systems as adaptive laws in Model Reference Adaptive System is proposed so as to improve the existing estimation algorithm and ,using the rotor speed estimated by the Proposed estimator, the speed control of an induction motor without speed sensor is performed. The computer simulation and the experiment is executed to prove the performance of the speed control system usinu the proposed speed estimator.

  • Industrial processes need to be monitored in real-time based on the input-output data observed during their operation. Abnormalities in an induction motor should be detected early in order to avoid costly breakdowns. To early identify induction motor faults, this paper effectively estimates spectral envelopes of each induction motor fault by utilizing a linear prediction coding (LPC) analysis technique and an expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. Moreover, this paper classifies induction motor faults into their corresponding categories by calculating Mahalanobis distance using the estimated spectral envelopes and finding the minimum distance. Experimental results shows that the proposed approach yields higher classification accuracies than the state-of-the-art approach for both noiseless and noisy environments for identifying the induction motor faults.

  • In this study, the active noise control experiment has been performed using induction motor noises. While the noises were measured, a induction motor was operated in different speed. For the simulation of ANC(Active Noise Control), test-bed is composed a multi-channel ANC system was constructed. In order to compare the control performance, we performed noise reduction simulations of ANC by Co-FXLMS algorithm and FXLMS algorithm. Through the simulation results, we confirmed that convergence performance and noise decrease effect of the proposed Co-FXLMS algorithm have been improved from existing FXLMS algorithm.

  • An induction motor is one of the most popular electrical apparatuses owing to its simple structure and robust construction. Parameter identification of the induction motor has long been researched either for a vector control technique or fault detection. Since vector control is a well-established technique for induction motor control, this paper concentrates on successive identification of physical parameters with on-load data for the purpose of condition monitoring and/or fault detection. For extracting six physical parameters from the on-load data in the framework of the induction motor state equation, unmeasured initial state values and profiles of load torque have to be estimated as well. However, the analytic optimization methods in general fail to estimate these auxiliary but significant parameters owing to the difficulty of obtaining their gradient information. In this paper, the univariate dynamic encoding algorithm for searches (uDEAS) newly developed is applied to the identification of whole unknown parameters in the mathematical equations of an induction motor with normal operating data. Profiles of identified parameters appear to be reasonable and therefore the proposed approach is available for fault diagnosis of induction motors by monitoring physical parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault diagnosis algorithm of induction motors by DFT and wavelet. We extract a feature vector using a fault pattern extraction method by DFT in frequency domain and wavelet transform in time-frequency domain. And then we deal with a fusion algorithm for the feature vectors extracted from DFT and wavelet to classify the faults of induction motors. Finally, we provide an experimental results that the proposed algorithm can be successfully applied to classify the several fault signals acquired from induction motors.
