The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of parent-child communication, and the self-efficacy of middle school students on school adjustment. The data was collected from 285 middle school students living in Kwangju. For statistical analysis, Cronbach' $\alpha$, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's multiple Comparison Analysis, LSD and hierarchical regression analysis were used. The results were summarized as follows : concerning connections between demographic variables and parent-child communication, the education of the father made the most significant difference, followed by living standard, free time for communication with the father, and free time for communication with the mother. The level of communication with parent made a significant difference to each sub-factor of school adjustment. As a result of making a hierarchical regression analysis to find out the relative impact of the demographic variables on school adjustment, self-efficacy was identified as the most important variable and predictor of school adjustment. The independent variables exercised a different influence on the sub-factors of school adjustment. These results indicated that adolescent's self-efficacy is the most important variable to improve the school adjustment of students.
This study investigates the differences in retirement preparation and asset type in the elderly life of employees in their forties and fifties. Retirement preparation showed a score of 3.30, and the emotional preparation dimension of retirement preparations showed a slightly higher score. The retention of guarantee assets(insurance and, national pension) scored higher than other types of assets. There was a high correlation between economic preparation and the type of asset retention. According to the hierarchical regression analysis, economic preparation, monthly income, home ownership, and the education level had significant effects on assets retention, and the explanatory power of these independent variables was 39.7%.
This research examined the psychological characteristics of children, such as children's attachment to their mothers, self-concept, daily stress, and depression, in both multicultural and typical Korean families. Elementary school children in 3rd to 6th grade were surveyed in Chunnam province. 158 cases of multicultural families and 181 cases of typical Korean families were analyzed by the methods of Cronbach's a coefficient and independent t-test using SPSS program. Children from multicultural families had less attachment to their mothers and self respect than those from typical Korean families. Regarding daily stress, children from multicultural families highly recognize the economic and physical environments, whereas children from typical Korean families highly recognize the academic achievements and the relationships with their teachers. Children from multicultural families were highly prone to depression compared to the children from typical Korean families.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify levels of quality of health-related life (EQ-5D) and its related factors among vulnerable elders receiving home visiting health care services in some rural areas. Methods: The subjects of this study were vulnerable elders aged 65 or higher receiving visiting health care benefits by a public health center in a county. Results: Levels of health-related EQ-5D were high when the subjects were males, their ADL and IADL were high. The EQ-5D of the vulnerable elders and social supports had a positive correlation, while their IADL and depression had a negative correlation with the EQ-5D. We can see that the EQ-5D related factors are variables that have significance influence on gender, subjective health status, BMI, IADL, depression levels, and social support. Conclusion: To improve the EQ-5D of the vulnerable elderly, it needs maintenance of independent IADL levels, social supporting systems using small meeting of the elderly in community. It is necessary to maintain independent IADL levels, enhance social supporting systems including small group gatherings for elders living alone by means of places like community halls, and develop specific intervention programs for the prevention and management of depressive elders.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of functional ability on relocation among the elderly. Longitudinal data from the Asset and Health Dynamics among the Oldest Old (1993, 1995) were analyzed for 6,225 respondents aged 70 or older. Among functional ability measures, difficulties in advanced activities of daily living (i. e., making telephone calls, taking medications, and managing money), lower body activities (i. e., walking several blocks, climbing one flight of stairs, pulling or pushing large objects, and carrying over 10 pounds), and household activities of daily living (i. e., preparing hot meals and shopping for groceries) were the predictors of increased residential move. Difficulties in basic activities of daily living (i. e., bathing, dressing, getting in and out, and using the toilet) were strongly related to increased entrance into an institutional care facility. Efforts to enhance the independent living of the elderly in the community setting should target the compensation of these functional difficulties.

For these purposes, the data were collected by using questionnaire distributed to 292 housewives living in Cheong Song. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, One Way Anova, Pearson's Correlation analysis and Multiple Regression analysis. The results of the research were as follows : 1. Rural housewife's sex role attitude comparatively took the transitional position and the value consciousness of home management was modernized. Housewife's satisfaction of household work was generally usual. 2. There were significant differences in the sex role attitude according to the type of housing. 3. The value consciousness of home management of rural housewives was variable according to housewife's occupation, husband's occupation and the type of housing. 4. Among the independent variables, the number of family member, the number of children and family style. 5. There were significant differences in the satisfaction of household work according to housewife's sex role attitude. 6. Among the independent variables, the number of children, monthly family income, the sex role attitude, the value consciousness about household work, education and leadership had significant influence on the satisfaction of household work.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a comprehensive exercise program for the prevention of urinary incontinence (UI), frailty, and depression, as well as the promotion of physical function in community-dwelling elderly female living alone. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was employed. The participants were 76 vulnerable elderly female with a mild-to-moderate urinary incontinence. The exercise group completed 12 weeks of a moderate intensity, comprehensive exercise program. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests and ANCOVA were used for data analysis with SPSS. Results: Upon the completion of the 12-week exercise program, significant improvements for UI symptoms (p=.001), timed up and go (p<.001), frailty (p=.006), and depression (p<.001) were observed, but not for hand grip strength (p=.053). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the 12-week comprehensive exercise program for the prevention of urinary incontinence had positive effects on improving UI symptoms, physical function, levels of frailty and depression in elderly women living alone. More prolonged exercise programs with other types of exercise should be developed for these vulnerable elderly women, and future studies are encouraged to confirm the effect of the comprehensive exercise program in other settings.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the importance and sensitivity to nursing interventions of six sensitive nursing outcomes selected from the Nursing Outcomes Classification. The outcomes in this study were Self-Care: Activities of Daily Living, Self-Care: Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, Treatment Behavior: Illness or Injury, Knowledge: Health Promotion, Caregiver Performance: Direct Care, and Caregiver Physical Health. Method: Data were collected from 97 visiting nurses working in public health centers located in a province and a capital city. The Fehring method was used to estimate outcomes and indicators for content validity. Simultaneous multiple regression and stepwise regression were used to evaluate relationships between each outcome and its indicators. Results: Results confirmed the importance and nursing sensitivity of the outcomes and their indicators. Multiple regression revealed key indicators of each outcome. Self-Care: Instrumental Activity of Daily Living needed to be revised. Neither all of the indicators nor the indicators showing the highest importance and contribution ratio were selected as independent variables for the stepwise regression model. The R2 of the regression models ranged from 29 to 56% in importance by selected indicators and from 56 to 83% in contribution. Conclusion: Further research is needed for the revision of outcomes and their indicators.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the influence of social capital on the depression of older adults living in rural areas. Methods: Data sets were obtained from the 2019 Korea Community Health Survey. The participants were 39,390 older adults over 65 years old living in rural areas. Indicators of social capital included trust, reciprocity, network, and social participation. Depression-the dependent variable-was measured using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Hierarchical ordinal logistic regression was conducted to identify factors associated with depression after adjusting the data numbers to 102,601 by applying the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). Results: The independent variables-indicators of social capital-exhibited significant association with the depression of older adults. The odds ratios of depression were higher in groups without social capital variables. Conclusion: To reduce depression, we recommend increasing social capital. Factors identified in this study need to be considered in older adult depression intervention programs and policies.
