Recently, the application fields of augmented reality(AR) are rapidly increasing, and related contents are also increasing in demand. In this way, object-based marker recognition is required for service of AR contents in mobile environment. At this time, in order to provide information corresponding to the marker, a technique of generating and servicing a virtual object corresponding to a specific marker is used. However, when a virtual object corresponding to a marker is held on the AR screen, a phenomenon occurs that an object of the marker unstably shakes due to various reasons such as camera shake and camera movement. As described above, the AR service based on the mobile device has a problem that it is difficult to represent objects stably. In this paper, we propose a stable marker recognition and tracking technique by applying the filtering technique according to the physical state change of the device when recognizing fixed markers in mobile AR environment.
Use of technology through utilization of ICT (Information Communication Technology) in field study area is rapidly increasing. Thus, when applying ICT to experiential education, apart from experiential education contents in simple form, the demand for new high quality contents is increasing considering change in education paradigm focusing on creativity. As a result, high quality interactive experiential education content for developing self-directed future talents is required. As a result of this, the development of ARD-based ICT experiential education content system that enhances learning effect of students by integrating ARD-based (Augmented Reality Display) ICT and experiential education to promote existence and immersion is being tested. This paper aims to improve efficacy and achieve vitalization through case analysis of AR-based ICT experiential education content. As a result of case analysis, the composition of content for improving education content included 1) constant securing and strengthening of experiential education content, 2) necessity for development of participating education content by diverse age groups, 3) development of differentiated ICT experiential education content, and 4) securing professional manpower and development of content in connection with education process. Therefore, with the efficacy of ARD-based ICT experiential education content, this study can first, enhance bond between students, second, enable self-directed learning, third, increase practical understanding in contents that were difficult to control by textbook contents, and fourth, increase interest and immersion in learning. Therefore, the contents on new converging technology that can maximize the development of constant content and cooperation between ICT technology and pedagogy for educating creativity and autonomy of ICT experiential education content.
Vision-based Human computer interaction is an emerging field of science and industry to provide natural way to communicate with human and computer. Especially, recent increasing demands for mobile augmented reality require the development of efficient interactive technologies between the augmented virtual object and users. This paper presents a novel approach to construct marker-less mobile augmented reality object and control the object. Replacing a traditional market, the human hand interface is used for marker-less mobile augmented reality system. In order to implement the marker-less mobile augmented system in the limited resources of mobile device compared with the desktop environments, we proposed a method to extract an optimal hand region which plays a role of the marker and augment object in a realtime fashion by using the camera attached on mobile device. The optimal hand region detection can be composed of detecting hand region with YCbCr skin color model and extracting the optimal rectangle region with Rotating Calipers Algorithm. The extracted optimal rectangle region takes a role of traditional marker. The proposed method resolved the problem of missing the track of fingertips when the hand is rotated or occluded in the hand marker system. From the experiment, we can prove that the proposed framework can effectively construct and control the augmented virtual object in the mobile environments.
Recently, BIM has become mandatory in the construction field, research on various use cases is increasing. In particular, when virtual reality technology, one of the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, and BIM are combined, it can be used in various fields such as preliminary design review and construction simulation. Until now, however, virtual reality grafting technology is only used as a simple prototype or as a model house. Also, it is difficult to activate virtual construction because it is expensive to produce high-quality virtual reality contents. Therefore, in this paper, in order to increase the utilization and quality of the virtual construction field, a study was conducted to shorten the material mapping time, which takes a lot of time when producing virtual reality contents using BIM. To this end, object properties were assigned to enable material mapping in the BIM model, and materials most used in the construction field were configured, and automated material function development and final tests were conducted that automatically map properties and materials. For the test, 10 models were used and the test was repeated three times, and the productivity improvement of about 50.16% was finally achieved. In the future, we plan to conduct research on physical data weight reduction based on the advanced material mapping automation function and the large-capacity BIM model.
This research is to design basic framework for developing teaching and learning method in the field of art and design major in university. Especially taking off from oneway e-learning teaching method, it is focused on increasing reality of student learning situation with applying AR contents process to augment virtual condition on reality condition. The processing of framework design and developing teaching and learning method are about practice education based on AR for model experiment research which was published "The E-Learning for Practice Training Using Augmented Reality in the College Education". This thesis is supposed to be a precedent study of the pre-published, and the purpose of those two studies were for experiment test in earnest in studying effect research. The classification of learning method divided basically as Face-to-Face Learning(FFL), Blended Learning(BL), fully E-Learning(EL), and Augmented Reality based E-Learning(AREL). This research compares and analyzes each frame of FFL, BL, and EL. And then, designed framework lead to the over-all conclusion with the type of AREL. Additionally, AREL for PBE suggests the ways of advanced teaching learning.
One of the fundamental elements in developing mixed reality applications is to effectively analyze and apply the environmental lighting information to image synthesis. In particular, interactive applications require to process dynamically varying lighting sources in real-time, reflecting them properly in rendering results. Previous related works are not often appropriate for this because they are usually designed to synthesize photorealistic images, generating too many, often exponentially increasing, light sources or having too heavy a computational complexity. In this paper, we present a fast light source estimation technique that aims to search for primary light sources on the fly from a sequence of video images taken by a camera equipped with a fisheye lens. In contrast to previous methods, our technique can adust the number of found light sources approximately to the size that a user specifies. Thus, it can be effectively used in Phong-illumination-model-based direct illumination or soft shadow generation through light sampling over area lights.

Today, the incidence of illnesses due to a lack of exercise, such as lack of exercise in the 20s and 30s, 40s menstrual period, and 50s in the fifties, is increasing every year, because of the introduction of new technologies such as smartphone development,And the pattern of life according to it changes conveniently and the amount of activity decreases, and the lack of momentum has a great influence. I would like to study new mixed reality healthcare service products by merging the existing human smartphone with mixed reality. This is not merely showing the numerical value of the momentum by attaching to the human body like the existing healthcare product,And to measure and analyze the amount of exercise to help people to manage their health.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of virtual reality (VR) therapy with compensation inhibition and feedback (CIF) on upper extremity function in chronic stroke patients. Seven chronic stroke patients participated in this study, which was a randomized controlled trial with a crossover design. Self upper extremity exercise, conservative VR therapy, and VR therapy with CIF were performed for one hour per session, 5 times per week, over a 3 week period. The main outcome measures involved range of motion (ROM) including shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints, a Manual Function Test (MFT), and a Motor Activity Log (MAL). Data were calculated as posttest and pretest changes in every session and were analyzed using Friedman and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests at p<.05. The results were as follows: 1) Statistically significant increase in ROM measurements of shoulder and elbow joints were seen with VR therapy with CIF compared to VR therapy and self upper extremity exercise (p<.05), whereas no significant increasing was noted for the wrist joint (p>.05). 2) Statistically significant increase in the MFT was seen with VR therapy with CIF compared with VR therapy and self upper extremity exercise (p<.05). 3) VR therapy with CIF also resulted in statistically significant increase in both activity of use (AOU) (p<.05) and quality of movement (QOM) (p<.05) on the MAL test when compared with VR therapy and self upper extremity exercise, respectively. In conclusion, VR therapy with CIF was more effective than conservative VR therapy and self upper extremity exercise in improving the upper extremity function in hemiplegic patients with chronic stroke.
With the aid of the increasing interests of Context-aware Augmented Reality Agent (AR Agent), various researches of AR Agent have been performed to explore the possibility of the agent as novel interface and the entity responding autonomously by user's input. However, in previous works, AR Agents are lack of specific method for using various contextual information. To revolve around those problems, we propose the Behavior Generation System for Context-aware AR Agent using layered architecture. Based on Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) model and Hierarchical Task Network (HTN) searching, the sequence of agent behavior has been selected in behavior planning layer. Then, the agent evaluates appropriateness of behaviors using previous behavior and the type of input before activation. This behavior generation system can be applied for edutainment, game, and assistant agent, which need intuitive and effective behaviors to convey information. Through this research, we expect that the Context-aware AR Agent could support for not only information delivery, but also the capability of effective communication for user.

The use of physics based deformation methods is continuously increasing in computer graphics area such as game and simulation. Many researchers have worked on this method. However, relatively few researchers have considered the development of the user interaction to the 3D objects. This research proposes a physics-based deformation technique using AR (Augmented Reality) environments to enhance user immersion and the effectiveness of the deformation. In the AR circumstances, the physics based deformation should be accomplished in realtime. In the proposed method, we combine RBF (Radial Basis Function) [1] and LSM (Lattice Shape Matching) [2, 3] and apply it to polygonal models for real-time user interaction. The dynamics of the LSM is also calculated to trace the movement of each lattice. Finally these algorithms are implemented in AR environments.
