A Study on the Meaning of '極' of Cheon-gi[天機] and '克' of In-sa[人事] in the Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元) - Focusing on the usage of '明明德' and '新民' in the Daxue - (『동의수세보원(東醫壽世保元)』의 천기(天機)의 '극(極)'과 인사(人事)의 '극(克)'의 의미에 대한 고찰 - 『대학(大學)』의 '명명덕(明明德)', '신민(新民)'의 용례(用例)를 중심으로 -)

  • Objectives : To examine the meaning of 'geuk(極)' and 'geuk(克)' of Cheon-gi and Insa respectively, for better translation of the contents and to understand the structure of the Donguisusebowon cosmology. Methods : The meanings of the characters '極' and '克' based on examples in the Daxue were examined together with content-related books such as the Shujing and the Shijing. Related concepts such as Taiji and Huangji were investigated as well. Results & Conclusions : Through investigation of the character usages and contexts in the Daxue, the archetypes of the two characters '極' and '克' were discovered. Based on these findings, the characteristics of Cheon-gi and Insa were thoroughly studied, which enabled better understanding of the structure of the world view that has been created by their integration. 'Geuk(極)' refers to Cheon-gi as the open world wherein all beings of different horizons are connected through a common principle. 'Geuk(克)' refers to Insa as an individual world that could be fully established by manifestation of one's moral abilities that lie within everybody. The two worlds integrate with each other, becoming two poles of the world humans belong to, while the human heart, in correspondence to these two worlds, create two poles within themselves, of which one pursues the public world while the other rejects the personal.

Evaluation Management and Performance of Indefinite-term Contract Workers in Local Governments: Moderating Effect of Training (무기계약직의 평가관리, 성과, 교육훈련 간의 관계: 지방자치단체 인사담당자의 인식을 중심으로)

  • This research aims to empirically explore the link between evaluation management and performance of indefinite-term contract workers in local governments, perceived by public officials who are responsible for managing indefinite-term contract workers in local governments. In addition, this study examines the moderating effect of training for the relationship between evaluation management and performance. The results show the positive relationship between evaluation management and performance with the moderating effect of training for the link. This research contributes to expand the scope and level of the literature on indefinite-term contract workers through suggesting the empirical evidence among evaluation management, performance and training. Furthermore, the empirical results of this study have useful implications for local governments and public officials to construct management guidelines for indefinite-term contract workers.

Analysis of the Motifs on Traditional Cultural Goods in Seoul and Kwang-Ju (전통 문화상품에 나타난 문양 분석 - 서울 지역과 광주 지역을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the characteristics of the motifs on cultural goods in In-Sa-Dong Street, Seoul, with those in Art Street, City Hall, Kwang-ju. For this study, 607 cultural goods were collected from the two cities: 265 in Seoul and 342 in Kwang-ju. Total cultural goods were classified by accessories, decoration pieces, stationery and ceramics and were studied by repetition patterns, motifs types, representative techniques, and representative types. The results were as follows. First, for repetition patterns of motifs, there were 219 simple repetition patterns in Seoul, and 289 in Kwang-ju, and 46 compound repetition patterns in Seoul, and 53 in Kwang-ju. The ratio of simple repetition pattern was higher than that of compound repetition pattern in both cities. Second, for motif types, floral, animal, letter, and graphic motifs were used far more frequently than any other motif types. Third, for representative techniques, embroidery was far more frequently used than any other representative techniques. Metallic crafts, chil-bo and paper techniques were also favored. Fourth, for representative types, realistic types were more common than abstract types.

  • 1. Objectives This research was proposed to find out the chronical concept of etiology in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). 2. Methods The related contents of etiology were selected in Je-Ma Lee's literatures such as "Donguisusebowon-SaSangchobongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷)"(DSS), "Donguisusebowon-GabObon(東醫壽世保元甲午本)"(DGO), " Donguisusebowon-ShinChukbon(東醫壽世保元辛丑本)"(DSC), and the research was written in order ro find out the chronical change of etiologic concept in SCM. 3. Results and Conclusions The chronical concept of etiology in SCM was as follows : There were comments that the cause of diseases was the imbalanced nature and emotion(性情偏急), the fault of human relationship(人事), and alcohol-sex-wealth-power(酒色財權) in DSS, and the imbalanced nature and emotion, exopathogen(外感), and endopathogen(內觸) in DGO In the last, the causes of disease was set to the imbalanced nature and emotion in DSC.

Effects of Five-star Hotel Frontline Employees' Emotional Labor on Physical/Mental Stress and Extra-role Behavior (호텔 직원의 감정노동이 육체적·정신적 스트레스와 역할 외 행동에 미치는 영향: 특1급 호텔 일선 직원을 대상으로)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among hoteliers' emotional labor like surface acting (SA) and deep acting (DA), job stress such as physical stress (PS) and mental stress (MS), and extra-role behavior (EB). Using data from 264 surveys collected from five-star hotels' employees, the author empirically tested the research model. Main results on applying structural equation analysis are as follows. (1) SA had positive impacts on both PS and JS while DA was negatively significant on only MS. (2) ER was influenced by DA while there was no significance on SA. (3) MS was negatively related to ER, and PS was also significantly effective; however, the estimate of PS indicated a positive correlation unlike theoretical prediction. In conclusion, a discussion about the interesting phenomenon was held based on self-rewarding acts.

  • The goal of this study is to investigate and analyse the status quo of the HANGEUL publications, and management of the HANGEUL information resources in Kazakhstan and Uzebekistan of the Central Asia. Documents analysis, and direct observation and interviews were used as research methods. This paper consists of as follows setting up a goal of construction, defining and developing the HANGEUL information resources produced and collected by the Korean in Kazakhstan and Uzebekistan, and analysing information resources management, and a conclusion and suggestion.

Ontology Design for the Register of Officials(先生案) of the Joseon Period (조선시대 선생안 온톨로지 설계)

  • This paper is about the research on ontology design for a digital archive of seonsaengan(先生案) of the Joseon Period. Seonsaengan is the register of staff officials at each government office, along with their personal information and records of their transfer from one office to another, in addition to their DOBs, family clan, etc. A total of 176 types of registers are known to be kept at libraries and museums in the country. This paper intends to engage in the ontology design of 47 cases of such registers preserved at the Jangseogak Archives of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) with a focus on their content and structure including the names of the relevant government offices and posts assumed by the officials, etc. The work for the ontology design was done with a focus on the officials, the offices they belong to, and records about their transfers kept in the registers. The ontology design categorized relevant resources into classes according to the attributes common to the individuals. Each individual has defined a semantic postposition word that can explicitly express the relationship with other individuals. As for the classes, they were divided into eight categories, i.e. registers, figures, offices, official posts, state examination, records, and concepts. For design of relationships and attributes, terms and phrases such as Dublin Core, Europeana Data Mode, CIDOC-CRM, data model for database of those who passed the exam in the past, which are already designed and used, were referred to. Where terms and phrases designed in existing data models are used, the work used Namespace of the relevant data model. The writer defined the relationships where necessary. The designed ontology shows an exemplary implementation of the Myeongneung seonsaengan(明陵先生案). The work gave consideration to expected effects of information entered when a single registered is expanded to plural registers, along with ways to use it. The ontology design is not one made based on the review of all of the 176 registers. The model needs to be improved each time relevant information is obtained. The aim of such efforts is the systematic arrangement of information contained in the registers. It should be remembered that information arranged in this manner may be rearranged with the aid of databases or archives existing currently or to be built in the future. It is expected that the pieces of information entered through the ontology design will be used as data showing how government offices were operated and what their personnel system was like, along with politics, economy, society, and culture of the Joseon Period, in linkage with databases already established.

  • The explosive growth of data and the rapidly changing technical social evolution new analysis paradigm for predicting and reacting the future the past and present ig data. Prescriptive analysis has a fundamental difference because can support specific behaviors and results according to user's goals with defin researchers establish judgments and activities achiev the goals. However research methods not widely implemented and even the terminology, Prescriptive analysis, is still unfamiliar. This paper thus propose an infrastructure in the prescriptive analysis field with key considerations for enhancing capability of researchers through a case study based on InSciTe Advisory developed with scientific big data. InSciTe Advisory system s developed in 2013, and offers a prescriptive analytics report which contains various As-Is analysis results and To-Be analysis results 5W1H methodology. InSciTe Advisory therefore shows possibility strategy aims to reach a target role model group. Through the availability and reliability of the measurement model the evaluation results obtained relative advantage of 118.8% compared to Elsevier SciVal.
