Cinnamate 4-hydroxylase (C4H) is a key enzyme of phenylpropanoid pathway, which synthesizes numerous secondary metabolites to participate in development and adaption. Two C4H isoforms, the 2192-bp BnC4H-1 and 2108-bp BnC4H-2, were cloned from oilseed rape (Brassica napus). They both have two introns and a 1518-bp open reading frame encoding a 505-amino-acid polypeptide. BnC4H-1 is 57.73 kDa with an isoelectric point of 9.11, while 57.75 kDa and 9.13 for BnC4H-2. They share only 80.6% identities on nucleotide level but 96.6% identities and 98.4% positives on protein level. Showing highest homologies to Arabidopsis thaliana C4H, they possess a conserved p450 domain and all P450-featured motifs, and are identical to typical C4Hs at substrate-recognition sites and active site residues. They are most probably associated with endoplasmic reticulum by one or both of the N- and C-terminal transmembrane helices. Phosphorylation may be a necessary post-translational modification. Their secondary structures are dominated by alpha helices and random coils. Most helices locate in the central region, while extended strands mainly distribute before and after this region. Southern blot indicated about 9 or more C4H paralogs in B. napus. In hypocotyl, cotyledon, stem, flower, bud, young- and middle-stage seed, they are co-dominantly expressed. In root and old seed, BnC4H-2 is dominant over BnC4H-1, with a reverse trend in leaf and pericarp. Paralogous C4H numbers in Brassicaceae genomes and possible roles of conserved motifs in 5' UTR and the 2nd intron are discussed.

The second survey was conducted to evaluate the effect of denture placement with same method as the first survey. Results : Before denture placement, there are no statistical significant differences (in general characteristics, chewing ability, nutrient intake, anthropometric measurement, and degree of satisfaction in life) between experimental group and control. But after denture placement, survey shows that there is statistically significant difference in chewing ability between two groups. The experimental group have higher intake of energy, protein, carbohydrate, iron, and vitamin C. in nutrient intake. And after denture replacement, there is significant improvement in degree of satisfaction in life. After denture placement there are significant changes in agitation and attitude toward own aging according to Lawton's factor classification. Conclusion: In short, this study shows that chewing ability improvement of the elderly has strong positive effects to their food intake, nutrient status and quality of life.
Recently, salaried company employees have a low desire to work and their quality of work life is deteriorating due to the reorganization of companies, high unemployment rates and insecure factors in politics, economy and society As individuals and companies are pursuing high performance and productivity In severe competition, the quality of personal life is despised. We need to reconsider this phenomenon and prepare for the countermeasures. With these backgrounds, this study performed a literature review and survey together to identify the current status of work desire, demographical differences in the sub factors of work desire and correlation between the sub factors of work desire, and between the work desire lowering factors and Improvement methods in order to improve the quality of work life of salaried company employees in the country.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest the modified 'Korean Standard-Quality Excellence Index' model and analyze the improvement effect with survey data by comparing the properness between current and suggested model result. Methods: The collected data through the survey were analyzed using paired t-test and unbalanced ANOVA method for testing the consistency of two customer satisfaction evaluating categories and comparing the current model to suggested model for confirming the improvement of performance. Results: The statistical analysis result shows that adjusted model using prior information improves the consistency between two customer satisfaction in case of short life-cycle product. Also long life-cycle product case, the result shows difference gap decreasing with same direction. Conclusion: Considering statistical model for QEI reflecting the characteristic of product group such as life cycle seems to be meaningful. Since index may be compared yearly base for checking the trend, careful approaching without big change should be considered for application.
PURPOSE: This study examined the efficacy of an interferential current (IFC) treatment on the improvement of pain, disability, and quality of life in stroke patients with lumbago. METHODS: A double-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted on 40 stroke patients with lumbago. The patients were allocated randomly into two groups: the IFC treatment group (n= 20) and the placebo treatment group (n= 20). The IFC group received 30 minutes of IFC treatment on the lumbar region, while the placebo group received IFC treatment but without real electrical stimulation. The intervention was administered five days a week for four weeks. The primary outcomes of pain intensity were measured using a visual analogue scale. The secondary measurements included the Barthel Index, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). RESULTS: The measurements were conducted before and after the two-week intervention period. Compared to the placebo treatment group, the IFC treatment group showed significantly greater improvement in the pain intensity (p<.05), ODI (p<.05), and SF-36 (p<.05) at the end of the intervention. No significant differences in the Barthel Index were found between the two groups. CONCLUSION: These findings show that an IFC treatment can improve pain, functional ability, and quality of life, highlighting the benefits of somatosensory stimulation from IFC in stroke patients with lumbago.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between resilience and health-related quality of life and to identify the effect of resilience on health-related quality of life in children with chronic illness. Method: The participants in this study were 71 children who were seen at one of 3 hospitals, either in outpatient clinics or as admitted patients. The data were collected from March to October, 2005 and descriptive statistics, t-test or ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Result: Health-related quality of life was slightly low with a mean score of 2.85 (range 1-5). Health-related quality of life was significantly different according to age. There was a significant correlation between resilience and health-related quality of life. Resilience was a predictor of health-related quality of life and accounted for 45% of the variance. Conclusions: Resilience was shown to influence health-related quality of life of children with chronic illness. These findings suggest that the interventions to enhance resilience would be effective for the improvement of health-related quality of life.
There is a growing awareness that physical barriers affect the level of independence of people with disabilities. Many researchers insist that barrier free design could influence independence living and quality of life of the disabled. The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of accessible design features of house and public facilities on quality of life of disabled people. A total of 189 questionnaires from the disabled who visited public welfare facilities was analyzed. In order to find out what variables among accessible features in housing and public spaces impact quality of life, multiple regression analysis was carried using SPSS 14. The results showed that accessible designs significantly influence quality of life of the disable. The main reason in which the disabled have difficulties when they move outside is a lack of accessible amenities and facilities. Particularly in house design, accessible main entrance route and accessible main entrance door, and removal of floor level significantly affects quality of life of the disabled. For public spaces, accessible main entrance and installation of ramp or removal of floor levels of main entrance and corridor increase quality of life people with disabilities. This paper suggested that the improvement in housing and public space, in which regulation or bylaws do not specify, should be made to increase accessibility for life quality of the disabled.
Purpose: This study aimed to construct and test a hypothetical model of the quality of life of school-age children with asthma based on the health-related quality of life model by Wilson and Cleary. Methods: Data were collected from 205 pairs of pediatric outpatients diagnosed with asthma and their parents in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do from July 2016 to April 2017. The exogenous variables were asthma knowledge, number of accompanying allergic diseases, and social support. The endogenous variables were asthma self-efficacy, asthma symptom control, perceived health status, parental quality of life, and children's quality of life. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling were performed. Results: Eighteen of the twenty-four hypotheses selected for the hypothetical model were attentive and supported statistically. Quality of life was explained by asthma self-efficacy, asthma symptom control, perceived health, parental quality of life, and asthma knowledge with 83.5%. Conclusion: Strategies for promoting self-efficacy and enforcing asthma knowledge will be helpful for the improvement of health-related quality of life with school-aged asthmatic children.
