  • While most machine learning research has been primarily concerned with the development of systems that implement one type of learning strategy, we use a multistrategy approach which integrates rule induction learning and instance-based learning, and show how this marriage allows for overall better performance. In the rule induction learning phase, we derive an entropy function, based on Hellinger divergence, which can measure the amount of information each inductive rule contains, and show how well the Hellinger divergence measures the importance of each rule. We also propose some heuristics to reduce the computational complexity by analyzing the characteristics of the Hellinger measure. In the instance-based learning phase, we improve the current instance-based learning method in a number of ways. The system has been implemented and tested on a number of well-known machine learning data sets. The performance of the system has been compared with that of other classification learning technique.

  • ERP in the past, primarily centering on large enterprises and the introduction of competition in the global e-business, but along with the proliferation of small and medium-sized enterprises are now in earnest, or to take advantage of the introduction of the ERP plan. However, the introduction of the ERP cost and the effort required to develop, because many never previously introduced ERP expect that the introduction of cost and performance comparisons with the measurement is necessary. Until now, however, the introduction of a framework of analysis followed the introduction of ERP primarily to measure performance of a major improvement. This research, in addition to improving the performance of these tasks have been overlooked until now for the system's user satisfaction BSC (Balanced Scorecard) models and techniques using AHP-specific understanding of the Company (Group executives, middle managers groups, and user groups) Importance of priorities you want to analyze. In summary, the key findings of this study follows. First, ERP user satisfaction measurement for the balanced scorecard indicators in terms of the redevelopment. Second, the information system user satisfaction to the user layer (Layer 3), grouped by the measure. Thirdly, the user satisfaction of the important topics for attention as quantified by measuring the hierarchy. This model is for satisfaction levels as quantitative of future users of the new system, information systems and the introduction of a new model of development based on the evaluation data will be able to take advantage of.

  • Distressed structures require necessary remedial measures in order to restore their original structural properties like strength and stiffness. Validating the effectiveness of the proposed qualitative remedial measure experimentally is of utmost importance as there is no well-established analytical method to verify the effectiveness of the same quantitatively. Prototype testing which would have been the best option for this purpose would not only prove costly but also be associated with numerous practical difficulties; hence model testing is resorted as the only option for the purpose. This paper presents one such typical experimental study on the structural behavior of a distressed bridge, mainly observed in the form of prominent tilt in the bearing plate in transverse and longitudinal direction on downstream side. The main focus of the proposed experimental investigation is to assess the structural behavior particularly the load carrying capacity. The extent of deformation of some models with specific structural arrangements and some models with specific need based remedial measures were also studied. This study also assessed the contribution of each remedial measure towards restoration individually and collectively.

  • The temperature measurement of yen high temperature core melt is of importance in LAVA (Lower-plenum Arrested Vessel Attack) experiment in which gap formation between core melt and the reactor lower head, and the effect of the gap on thermal behavior are to be measured. The delay time of ultrasonic wavelets due to high temperature is suggested. As a first stage, a molten material temperature was measured up to 2300℃. Also, the optimization design of the ultrasonic temperature sensor with persistence at the high temperature was suggested in this paper. And the utilization of the theory suggested in the reference〔1〕and the efficiency of the developed system are certified by performing experiments. This sensor welded magnetostrictive element and tungsten element will be able to measure a temperature range of 3000℃ hereafter.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust face tracking algorithm. It is based on Condensation algorithm [7] and uses skin color and facial shape as the observation measure. It is hard to integrate color weight and shape weight. So we propose the method that has two separate trackers which uses skin color and facial shape as the observation measure respectively. One tracker tracks skin colored region and the other tracks facial shape. We used importance sampling technique to limit sampling region of two trackers. For skin-colored region tracker, we propose an adaptive color model to avoid the effect of illumination change. The proposed face tracker performs robustly in clutter background and in the illumination changes.

  • Currently, the development of multimedia communication has progressed so rapidly that the video program service has become a requirement for ordinary customers. The quality of experience (QoE) for the visual signal is of the fundamental importance for numerous image and video processing applications, where the goal of video quality assessment (VQA) is to automatically measure the quality of the visual signal in agreement with the human judgment of the video quality. Considering the codec effect to the video quality, in this paper an efficient non-reference (NR) VQA algorithm is proposed which estimates the video quality (VQ) only by utilizing the distorted video signal at the destination. The VQA feature vectors (FVs) which have high relationships with the subjective quality of the distorted video are investigated, and a hybrid NR VQA (HNRVQA) function is established by considering the multiple FVs. The simulation results, testing on the SDTV programming provided by VCEG Phase I, show that the proposed algorithm can represent the VQ accurately, and it can be used to replace the subjective VQA to measure the quality of the video signal automatically at the destinations.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the causal relationships among attitude toward eating seafood, perceived behavioral control (PBC), health involvement, behavioral intention and consumption. A total of 235 questionnaires were completed. A structural equation model was used to measure the causal effects of the constructs. The results of the study demonstrated that the structural analysis results for the data also indicated an excellent model fit. Health involvement had considerable effects on attitude and intention, which were statistically significant. The effects of attitude and PBC on intention were also statistically significant. Futhermore, the effects of attitude, PBC, and intention on consumption were statistically significant. As expected, intention had a significant effect on consumption. Moreover, health involvement had significant indirect effects on intention through attitude and PBC. Attitude had a significant indirect effect on consumption through intention. PBC also had a significant indirect effect on consumption through intention. By developing and testing conceptual models that integrated the relationship among variables such as health involvement and attitude, along with seafood consumption behavior, this study approaches a deeper understanding of how perceptions, on the importance of a healthy diet and other factors, influence consumption behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the estimated coefficient and marginal willingness to pay of attribute level: origin logo, origin description, traditional food, fusion food, service guarantee, and price, which influence tourist preference for restaurants. Also, the study identified the attribute which confers the highest importance to tourists. Conjoint experiment and the ordinal probit model were used for this study. A total of 210 surveys were conducted by tourists. The findings from this study were as follows. First, the effects of all attributes on tourist preference for restaurants were statistically significant. Second, tourists regarded an origin logo as the very important attribute, and were more willing to pay for the case where the menu contained origin logo. These findings suggested new marketing opportunities for restaurant managers. Although this study provides some evidence on the value of the local product brand to tourists, a similar measure has not been developed for local residents. This is an area in need of future research.

  • In this study we investigate the importance of the subway station using network centrality measures. For centrality measures, we have used betweenness centrality, closeness centrality, and degree centrality. A new measure called weighted betweenness centrality is proposed, that combines both traditional betweenness centrality and passenger flow between stations. Through correlation analysis and power-law analysis of passenger flow on the Seoul metropolitan subway network, we have shown that weighted betweenness centrality is a meaningful and practical measure. We have also shown that passenger flow between any two stations follows a highly skewed power-law distribution.

  • One of the possible options for spent-fuel management in Korea is pyroprocessing, which is a process for electrochemical recycling of spent nuclear fuel. Nuclear material accountancy is considered to be a safeguards measure of fundamental importance, for the purposes of which, the amount of nuclear material in the input and output materials should be measured as accurately as possible by means of chemical analysis and/or non-destructive assay. In the present study, a neutron measurement system based on the fast-neutron energy multiplication (FNEM) and passive neutron albedo reactivity (PNAR) techniques was designed for nuclear material accountancy of a spent-fuel assembly (i.e., the input accountancy of a pyroprocessing facility). Various parameters including inter-detector distance, source-to-detector distance, neutron-reflector material, the structure of a cadmium sleeve around the close detectors, and an air cavity in the moderator were investigated by MCNP6 Monte Carlo simulations in order to maximize its performance. Then, the detector responses with the optimized geometry were estimated for the fresh-fuel assemblies with different 235U enrichments and a spent-fuel assembly. It was found that the measurement technique investigated here has the potential to measure changes in neutron multiplication and, in turn, amount of fissile material.
