An Architecture for the DCT and IDCT using a Fast DCT Algorithm (고속 DCT 알고리즘을 이용한 DCT 및 IDCT 구조)

  • This paper proposes an implementation of DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) and IDCT (Inverse DCT) using a fast DCT algorithm with shift and addition operations instead of multiplications Based on the proposed algorithm, a new VLSI architecture for the DCT and the IDCT is proposed. It shows modularity , regularity and capability for multiprocessing. Its performance is also simulated by a simulation software, "Compass". The results of the simulation provide the quality of decompression images, the increase in processing speed, representing the superiority of the proposed architecture.

Computational Complexity Comparison of Second-Order Volterrra Filtering Algorithms

  • The objective of the paper is to compare the computational complexity of five algorithms for computing time-domain second-order Volterra filter outputs in terms of number of real multiplication and addition operations required for implementation. This study shows that if the filter memory length is greater that or equal to 16, the fast algorithm using the overlap-save method and the frequency-domain symmetry properties of the quadratic coefficients is the most efficient among the algorithms investigated in this paper, When the filter memory length is less than 16, the algorithm using the time-domain symmetry properties is better than any other algorithm.

  • Among the target identification algorithms presented up to now, the NNR algorithm utilize multifrequency and single observation method. But it is generally known that its implementation is extremely difficult. In this paper a new identification algorithm using the single frequency and cumulative observation method was proposed. The simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm with 31 observation and accumulation is more effective and realizable than the NNR with 3 freqnencies when the noise level n is below 0.3.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a system for automatic data path synthesis in digital system. There are four subtasks to synthesize a digital system: scheduling, register allocation, functional unit allocation and bus allocation. In this paper, force directed algorithm is used for the scheduling while new algorithms are proposed for the allocation subtasks. Synthesis results of two experimental data paths including MC6502 have shown that our proposed algorithm out goes most of previous works.

  • In this paper, an algorithm to update a codebook using a neural network in consecutive images, is proposed. With the Kohonen's self-organizing feature map, we adopt the iterative technique to update a centroid of each cluster instead of the unsupervised learning technique. Because the performance of this neural model is comparable to that of the LBG algorithm, it is possible to update the codebooks of consecutive frames sequentially in TV and to realize the hardwadre on the real-time implementation basis.

  • Recently, the application of the linear machine for industrial field is remarkable increased, especially for the gantry machine and machine tool system. In these application, high precise position control performance is essentially required in steady/transient state. This paper presents the generalized PID position control algorithm which have rare sensitivity to mass and disturbance. Through the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed algorithm have good performance for the linear machine drives in the steady state and transient state in spite of the load mass varing.

  • This paper introduce a new test generation method based on built-in data base which is suitable for generating of test set by using PROLOG language. The program presented in this paper deals with all the information required for fault detection from the rules describing output signals and internal signals. Example shows the validity of proposed PROLOG program which results in a effective generation of test set comparable to the conventional D-algorithm.

  • GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) system which is being used in Europe is composed A3, A5 and A8 algorithms. In this paper we implement A3 algorithm using VHDL, and verify the design by simulation. The A3 algorithm is divided into 3 parts, the encryption part, in which F-function encrypts 64 bit block data;the key generation part, which produces 32 bit subkeys;the control part, which produces the control code.

  • This paper represents a fast computational algorithm for the discrete sine transform defined by Kekre and Solanki. Techniques are developed to factor the discrete sine trans form matrix into M=log2 2N matrices, where the number(N) of sampled data points is a power of two. Each factorial matrix contains not more than two non-zero real elem tints in any row or column. As a result of this method, the exact a배orithm for the fast discrete sine transform is accomplished. The algorithm is illustiated by a signal flow graph, which may be readily translated to hardware or software implementation.

  • In this Paper we show the LCD simulator for defect inspection using image processing algorithm and neural network. The defect inspection algorithm of the LCD consists of preprocessing, feature extraction and defect classification. Preprocess removes noise from LCD image, using morphology operator and neural network is used for the defect classification. Sample images with scratch, pinhole, and spot from real LCD color filter image are used. The proposed algorithms show that defect detected and classified in the ratio of 92.3% and 94.6 respectively.
