  • We present a new square root algorithm in finite fields which is a variant of the Pocklington-Peralta algorithm. We give the complexity of the proposed algorithm in terms of the number of operations (multiplications) in finite fields, and compare the result with other square root algorithms, the Tonelli-Shanks algorithm, the Cipolla-Lehmer algorithm, and the original Pocklington-Peralta square root algorithm. Both the theoretical estimation and the implementation result imply that our proposed algorithm performs favorably over other existing algorithms. In particular, for the NIST suggested field P-224, we show that our proposed algorithm is significantly faster than other proposed algorithms.

  • A direct computation algorithm of two dimensional fast Fourier transform (2D-FFT) is considered here for implementation in mesh connected multiprocessor array of both a 2D-toroidal and a rectangular type. Results are derived for a hardware algorithm including data allocation and interprocessor communications. A performance comparison is carried out between the proposed direct 2D-FFT computation and the conventional one to show that a new algorithm gives higher speedup under a reasonable assumption on the speeds of operations.

  • A modified Kohonen's self-organizing feature map (SOFM) algorithm which has binary reinforcement function and a constant learning rate is proposed. In contrast to the time-varing adaptaion gain of the original Kohonen's SOFM algorithm, the proposed algorithm uses a constant adaptation gain, and adds a binary reinforcement function in order to compensate for the lowered learning ability of SOFM due to the constant learning rate. Since the proposed algorithm does not have the complicated multiplication, it's digital hardware implementation is much easier than that of the original SOFM.

  • In this paper, we propose a prime code and a new cryptographic algorithm for encryption and decryption as its application. The characteristics of prime numbers with irregular distribution and uniqueness are used to generate the prime code. Based on the prime code, an encryption algorithm for secret key is presented. Since the algorithm requires simpler operations than existing encryption such as DES, the burden for hardware implementation of the encryption and decryption process is alleviated.

  • This paper describes an implementation of fast face detection algorithm. This algorithm can robustly detect human faces with unknown sizes and positions in complex backgrounds. This paper provides a powerful face detection algorithm using skin color segmenting. Skin Color is modeled by a Gaussian distribution in the HSI color space among different persons within the same race, Oriental. The main feature of the Algorithm is achieved face detection robust to illumination changes and a simple adaptive thresholding technique for skin color segmentation is employed to achieve robust face detection.

  • This paper concerns about the active noise canceller via filtered-X LMS algorithm. There are various kinds of algorithms to implement a active noise canceller. Traditional LMS algorithms are not enough to implement a sharp noise cancellation characteristics. We simulates a filtered-X LMS algorithm and implements an algorithm to the TMS320C5x DSP processor and shows that result.

  • In this paper we propose a bit-sliced modular multiplication algorithm and a bit-sliced modular multiplier design meeting the increasing crypto-key size for RSA public key cryptosystem. The proposed bit-sliced modular multiplication algorithm was designed by modifying the Montgomery's algorithm. The bit-sliced modular multiplier is easy to expand to process large size operands and can be immediately applied to RSA public key cryptosystem.

  • The WK-recursive network proposed by Vecchia and Sanges[1] is widely used in the design and implementation of local area networks and parallel processing architectures. It provides a high degree of regularity and scalability, which conform well to a design and realization of distributed systems involving a large number of computing elements. In this paper, the routing of a message is investigated on the WK-recursive network, which is key to the performance of this network. We present an efficient shortest path algorithm on the WK-recursive network, which is simpler than Chen and Duh[2] in terms of design complexity.

  • Recently, many photovoltaic systems (PV systems) including solar parks and PV farms have been built to prepare for the post fossil fuel era. To investigate the degradation process of the PV systems and thus, efficiently operate PV systems, there is a need to visually monitor PV systems in the range of infrared ray through the Internet. For efficient visual monitoring, this paper explores a multithreaded implementation of a recently developed HEVC standard whose compression efficiency is almost two times higher than H.264. For an efficient parallel implementation under a meshbased 64 multicore system, this work takes into account various design choices which can solve potential problems of a two-dimensional interconnects-based 64 multicore system. These problems may have not occurred in a small-scale multicore system based on a simple bus network. Through extensive evaluation, this paper shows that, for an efficient multithreaded implementation of HEVC intra prediction in a mesh-based multicore system, much effort needs to be made to optimize communications among processing cores. Thus, this work provides three design choices regarding communications, i.e., main thread core location, cache home policy, and maximum coding unit size. These design choices are shown to improve the overall parallel performance of the HEVC intra prediction algorithm by up to 42%, achieving a 7 times higher speed-up.

  • This paper proposes a study on the configuration of balancing of plant(BOP) and implementation of battery management system(BMS) functions for vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB) and propose a method consists of sensor and required design specifications BOP system configuration. And it proposes an method of the functions implementation and control algorithm of the BMS for flow battery. Functions of BMS include temperature control, the charge and discharge control, flow control, level control, state of charge(SOC) estimation and a battery protection through the sensor signal of BOP. Functions of BMS is implemented by the sensor signal, so it is recognized as a very important factor measurement accuracy of the data. Therefore, measuring a mechanical signal(flow rate, temperature, level) through the BOP test model, and the measuring an electrical signal(cell voltage, stack voltage and stack current) through the VRFB charge-discharge system and analyzes the precision of data in this paper. Also it shows a good charge-discharge test results by the SOC estimation algorithm of VRFB. Proposed BOP configuration and BMS functions implementation can be used as a reference indicator for VRFB system design.
