  • To resolve the knowledge acquisition bottleneck in the expert systems, the connectionist expert systems have been proposed, which facilitate learning capability of neural networks. This paper is to modify Gallant's connectionist expert network so that it can be applied to more general problems : 1) The hidden nodes are added between the input nodes and an output node, so that the back propagation learning algorithm is used instead of perception based Pocket algorithm. 2) Inference engine is thus modified by modeling that a node may have uncertainties due to unknown inputs.

  • This paper presents a new high-efficient algorithm and architecture for an elliptic curve cryptographic processor. To reduce the computational complexity, novel modified Lopez-Dahab scalar point multiplication and left-to-right algorithms are proposed for point multiplication operation. Moreover, bit-serial Galois-field multiplication is used in order to decrease hardware complexity. The field multiplication operations are performed in parallel to improve system latency. As a result, our approach can reduce hardware costs, while the total time required for point multiplication is kept to a reasonable amount. The results on a Xilinx Virtex-5, Virtex-7 FPGAs and VLSI implementation show that the proposed architecture has less hardware complexity, number of clock cycles and higher efficiency than the previous works.

  • In the implementation of a smart home, activity recognition technology using simple sensors is very important. In this paper, we propose a new activity recognition method based on Bayesian network (BN). The structure of the BN is learned by K2 algorithm and is composed of sensor nodes, activity nodes and time node whose state is quantized with reasonable interval. In the proposed method, the BN has less complexity and provides better activity recognition rate than the previous method.

  • This paper presents the duplex controller operated as master slave for Self Excited Static Type excitation system and the results of operation for duplex digital excitation system. Software is made up duplex multi-tasking control algorithm which is based on VxWorks(real-time OS), preprocessing algorithm for input-output signal, BSP & Device Driver for interfacing hardware and software, and OIS(Operator Interface Station) program, HMI S/W. Master controller and slave controller intercommunicate dominant data to minimize bump when controller switchover from master to slave occurs. Communication between master controller and slave controller is duplicated and communication between OIS and controller is duplicated. Hardware is made up VMEBUS based controller which is designed with PPC & I/O board ...

  • In this paper, we propose a new type of nonlinear fixed interval smoothing filter which is modified from the existing nonlinear smoothing filter. A nonlinear smoothing filter is derived from two-filter formulas. For the backward filter, the propagation and update equation of error states are derived. Particularly the modified update equation of the backward filter use the estimated error terms from the forward filter. Smoothing algorithm is altered into the compatible form with the new type of the backward fitter. An advantage of the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the existing one because propagation in backward filter is very simple from the implementation point of view. We apply the proposed nonlinear smoothing ...

  • The ATO(Automatic Train Operation) System is used for train operation instead of dreivers. It is interfaced with TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System) and ATC/TWC system in the train and wayside facilities. In this paper describes configuration of ATO, Specification of ATO hardware, construction of ATO software and the algorithm for automatic train speed regulation in the carborn ATO system. This paper is mainly concerned with the development of the ATO System. The ATO system is used for automatic or driverless operation of a train using various informations from TCMS, ATC, TWC. • A core technology for implementation of Augmented Reality is to develop a merging algorithm between interesting 3-D objects and real images. In this paper, we present a 3-D object recognition method to decide viewing direction toward the object from camera. This process is the starting point to merge with real image and 3-D objects. Perspective projection between a camera and 3-dimentional objects defines a plane in 3-D space that is from a line in an image and the focal point of the camera. If no errors with perfect 3-D models were introduced in during image feature extraction, then model lines in 3-D space projecting onto this line in the image would exactly lie in this plane. This observa...

  • The optimal Bayesian filter for a single target is known to provide the best tracking performance in a cluttered environment. However, its main drawback is the increase in memory size and computation quantity over time. In this paper, the inevitable predicament of the optimal Bayesian filter is resolved in a suboptimal fashion through the use of a receding horizon strategy. As a result, the problems of memory and computational requirements are diminished. As a priori information, the horizon initial state is estimated from the validated measurements on the receding horizon. Consequently, the suboptimal algorithm proposed allows for real time implementation.

  • A high speed control system for a telerobot using DSP is developed. The system is designed to resolve computational burden in advanced algorithms. The design is assumed to h ave no specific algorithm and robot configuration. The system is composed of a teaching box, a DSP board, a set of servo drivers and 16 bit microcomputer system. The teaching box is designed as a man-machine interface, which has two joysticks with three degrees of freedom for velocity generation in Cartesian space. The DSP board, i.e. DSP56000ADS based on a 10.25MIPS digital signal processor, DSP56001, computes the inverse Jacobian matrix which transforms Cartesian velocity into joint velocity. A resolved motion rate control algorithm for a 5 degrees of freedom manipulator was implemented. About 100 Hz sampling rate was achieved in this system.
