Implementation of the Multi-Segment Karatsuba Multiplier for Binary Field (멀티 세그먼트 카라츄바 유한체 곱셈기의 구현)

  • Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) coprocessors support massive scalar multiplications of a point. We research the design for multi-segment multipliers in fixed-size ECC coprocessors using the multi-segment Karatsuba algorithm on GF($2^m$). ECC coprocessors of the proposed multiplier is verified on the SoC-design verification kit which embeds ALTERA EXCALIBUR FPGAs. As a result of our experiment, the multi-segment Karatsuba multiplier, which has more efficient performance about twice times than the traditional multi-segment multiplier, can be implemented as adding few H/W resources. Therefore the multi-segment Karatsuba multiplier which satisfies performance for the cryptographic algorithm, is adequate for a low cost embedded system, and is implemented in the minimum area.

  • The importance for Internet security has being increased and the Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) standard, which incorporates cryptographic algorithms, has been developed as one solution to this problem. IPSec provides security services in IP-Layer using IP Authentication Header (AH) and IP Encapsulation Security Payload (ESP). In this paper, we propose IPSec cryptographic processor design based AMBA architecture. Our design which is comprised Rijndael cryptographic algorithm and HAMC-SHA-1 authentication algorithm supports the cryptographic requirements of IP AH, IP ESP, and any combination of these two protocols. Also, our IPSec cryptographic processor operates as AMBA AHB Slave. We designed IPSec cryptographic processor using Xilinx ISE 5.2i and VHDL, and implemented our design using Xilinx's FPGA Vertex XCV600E.

  • In this paper, we developed a laser distance measurement(LDM) system based on DSP. We applied PPD(Pulsed Phase Detection) algorithm to the LDM system. The PPD algorithm calculate the distance from the LDM system to the object by using phase detection. Reference waveform at a fixed frequency is sampled by both the inner-loop and outer-loop pulse signal. The LDM system detects the difference of phase between the sampled signals. We obtained an accuracy of ${\sigma}=25.5mm$ from the LDM system.

  • We present a novel multi-resolution block matching algorithm (BMA) for fast motion estimation. At the coarsest level, a full search BMA (FSBMA) is performed for searching complex or random motion. Concurrently, spatial correlation of motion vector (MV) field is used for searching continuous motion. Here we present an efficient method for searching full resolution MVs without MV decimation even at the coarsest leve. After the coarsest level search, two or three initial MV candidates are chosen for the next level. At the further levels, the MV candidates are refined within much smaller search areas. Simulation results show that in comparison with FSBMA, the proposed BMA achieves a speed-up factor over 710 with minor PSNR degradation of 0.2dB at most, under a normal MPEG2 coding environment. Furthermore, our scheme is also suitable for hardware implementation due to regular data-flow.

  • The adequate compression algorithm is essential to achieve high quality embedded TTS system. in this paper, we Propose waveform interpolation coder for TTS corpus compression after many speech coder investigation. Unlike speech coders in communication system, compression rate and anality are more important factors in TTS DB compression than other performance criteria. Thus we select waveform interpolation algorithm because it provides good speech quality under high compression rate at the cost of complexity. The implemented coder has bit rate 6kbps with quality degradation 0.47. The performance indicates that the waveform interpolation is adequate for TTS DB compression with some further study.

Underwater Acoustic Positioning System Design for Shallow Water Depth Application

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a practical underwater positioning system, which is applicable for shallow water depth conditions. In this paper, two strategies are used to enhance the navigation performance. First, a low-cost acoustic-ranging-based precise navigation solution for shallow water is designed. Then, the outlier rejection algorithm is introduced by designing a velocity gate. The acoustic-ranging-based navigation is implemented by modifying the long base line solution. To enhance the tracking precision, the outlier rejection algorithm is introduced. The performance of the developed approach is evaluated using experiments. The results demonstrate that precise shallow water depth navigation can be implemented using the suggested approaches.

  • The automation of mesh generation in BEM is very important in numerical analysis field for the time and efficiency. In order to this problem, program and algorithm to achive the purpose of making input data and automation of mesh generation based in Expert System are developed in this study. This program has the function of rotating and zooming. The stress intensity factor which is a criteria of fracture mechanics is calculated and compared with other results to prove efficiency and availability of the program in result.

  • Neural networks are works are used in the framework of sensor based tracking control of robot manipulators. They learn by practice movements the relationship between PSD(an analog Position Sensitive Detector) sensor readings for target positions and the joint commands to reach them. Using this configuration, the system can track or follow a moving or stationary object in real time. Furthermore, an efficient neural network architecture has been developed for real time learning. This network uses multiple sets of simple back propagation networks one of which is selected according to which division(corresponding to a cluster of the self-organizing feature map) in data space the current input data belongs to. This lends itself to a very training and processing implementation required for real time control.

  • Finding influential factors from given clustering result is a typical data science problem. Genetic Algorithm based method is proposed to derive influential factors and its performance is compared with two conventional methods, Classification and Regression Tree (CART) and Chi-Squared Automatic Interaction Detection (CHAID), by using Dunn's index measure. To extract the influential factors of preference towards political parties in South Korea, the vote result of $18^{th}$ presidential election and 'Demographic', 'Health and Welfare', 'Economic' and 'Business' related data were used. Based on the analysis, reverse engineering was implemented. Implementation of reverse engineering based approach for influential factor analysis can provide new set of influential variables which can present new insight towards the data mining field.

  • This paper presents a technique for estimating the attitude of a model helicopter at near hovering using a combination of inertial and non-inertial sensors such as gyroscope and potentiometer. To estimate the attitude of helicopter a simplified indirect Kalman filter based on sensor modeling is derived and the characteristics of sensors are studied, which are used in determining the optimal Kalman gain. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm simulation results are presented with real flight data. Our approach avoids a complex dynamic modeling of helicopter and allows for an elegant combination of various sensor data with different measurement frequencies. We also describe the method of implementation of the algorithm in the model helicopter.
