Experimental study on unsaturated flow in the soil is important to understand the characteristics of the water flow. Measurement of unsteady-state water movement using the traditional equipment (e.g. tensiometer) has a problem that requires relatively a long response time. In this study a quick measurement method of soil water flow using TDR is introduced. TDR consists of an electronic function generator which generates a squared wave, and an oscilloscope which catches the reflected wave. The wave is reflected where both the impedance of the transmission line and the propagation velocity are changed. The water content can be obtained from the travel time measured by means of TDR because the dielectric constant is affected by the change of soil water content. From the result of TDR calibration. TDR measurement error for the oven dried soil was found to be less than 3.5%. This supports that TDR is a viable technique to measure the unsteady-state water movement.

The theory of the current-type electromagnetic flowmeter for a high temporal resolution was developed for two-phase flow measurements. To predict the output of the current-type flowmeter, the three-dimensional virtual potential distribution C and the newly introduced flow pattern coefficient f were derived and computed. The output of flowmeter depends on the liquid conductivity (sensitive to temperature) and flow configurations of the two-phase flow with the sinusoidal excitation over 100 Hz. The flow pattern coefficient was specially devised to separate the dependency on the flow configuration of the two-phase flow from that on the liquid conductivity which can be expressed with the calibration of single-phase flow. Using the finite difference method, the three-dimensional virtual potential distributions were computed for the electrode of finite size. By taking derivative of the virtual potential, the weight functions were evaluated and compared with existing analytic series solution for the point-electrode. There was a reasonable correspondence between the present and existing results. In addition, the flow pattern coefficients were evaluated for annular flows with various film thicknesses, and compared with the experimental results by the impedance spectroscopy. The numerical results agreed well with the experimental data.

The impact of leakage was incorporated into the transfer functions of the complex head and discharge. The impedance transfer functions for the various leaking pipeline systems were also derived. Hydraulic transients could be efficiently analyzed by the developed method. The simulation of normalized pressure variation using the method of characteristics and the impulse response method shows good agreement to the condition of turbulent flow. The leak calibration could be performed by incorporation of the impulse response method with Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Harmony Search (HS). The objective functions for the leakage detection can be made using the pressure-head response at the valve, or the pressure-head or the flow response at a certain point of the pipeline located upstream from the valve. The proposed method is not constrained by the Courant number to control the numerical dissipation of the method of characteristics. The limitations associated with the discreteness of the pipeline system in the inverse transient analysis can be neglected in the proposed method.
The Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) builds the origin and destination(O-D) trip data with relatively smaller zone size such as Eup, Myeon, Dong administration unit districts in metropolitan area. Otherwise, O-D trip data was built by bigger size of traffic analysis zone(TAZ) such as Si, Gun, Gu administration unit districts for rural area. In some cases, it is needed to divide a zone into several sub-zones for rural area in order to analyze travel distribution pattern in detail for a certain highway and rail project. The study suggested a method to estimate O-D trips for sub-zones in the larger-size zones in rural area. Two different distribution models, direct demand model and gravity model, were calibrated for sub-zone's intra-zonal O-D trip pattern with metropolitan area O-D data which has smaller zone-size (sub-zone) data categorized by low, middle and high population density. The calibration results were compared between the two models. The gravity model with impedance function of power functional form was selected with better explanation for all groups in the metropolitan area. The adjusted $R^2$ was 0.7426, 0.6456 and 0.7194 for low, middle and high population density group, respectively. The suggested O-D trip estimating method is expected to produce enhanced trip patterns with sub-divided small zones.
In this study, a lightning warning system (LWS) which can predict a lightning return stroke is developed, and the LWS is based on the measurement of electric field intensity at the ground level. The LWS consist of a rotation-type field mill as an electric field sensor, an impedance changer, a two-stage amplifier, and a microprocessor unit. From the calibration experiment, the frequency bandwidth and the maximum resolution of the LWS are $DC{\sim}200\;[Hz]$ and 73 [V/m], respectively. Also, the LWS can measure the electric field strength caused by a thunderstorm up to 18.7 [kV/m] at the ground. To ensure the sensing ability of the developed LWS in an actual situation, computer simulation using thundercloud models was carried out, and the result showed that the LWS can monitor the movement of thunderclouds within 6 [km] from the observation site.

This paper describes the link layer and physical layer of the Serial ATA which is the next generation for parallel ATA specification that defines data transfer between PC and peripheral storage devices. The link layer consists of CRC generation/error detection, 8b/10b decoding/encoding, primitive generation/detection block. For the physical layer, it includes CDR(Cock Data Recovery), transmission PLL, serializer/de-serializer. It also includes generation and receipt of OOB(Out-Of-Band) signal, impedance calibration, squelch circuit and comma detection/generation. Additionally, this chip includes TCB(Test Control Block) and BIST(Built-In Selt Test) block to ease debugging and verification. It is fabricated with 0.18${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard CMOS cell library. All the function of the link layer operate properly. For the physical layer, all the blocks operate properly but the data transfer is limited to the 1.28Gbps. This is doe to the affection or parasitic elements and is verified with SPICE simulation.

As the wafer geometric requirements continuously complicated and minutes in tens of nanometers, the expectation of real-time add-on sensors for in-situ plasma process monitoring is rapidly increasing. Various industry applications, utilizing plasma impedance monitor (PIM) and optical emission spectroscopy (OES), on etch end point detection, etch chemistry investigation, health monitoring, fault detection and classification, and advanced process control are good examples. However, process monitoring in semiconductor manufacturing industry requires non-invasiveness. The hypothesis behind the optical monitoring of plasma induced ion current is for the monitoring of plasma induced charging damage in non-invasive optical way. In plasma dielectric via etching, the bombardment of reactive ions on exposed conductor patterns may induce electrical current. Induced electrical charge can further flow down to device level, and accumulated charges in the consecutive plasma processes during back-end metallization can create plasma induced charging damage to shift the threshold voltage of device. As a preliminary research for the hypothesis, we performed two phases experiment to measure the plasma induced current in etch environmental condition. We fabricated electrical test circuits to convert induced current to flickering frequency of LED output, and the flickering frequency was measured by high speed optical plasma monitoring system (OPMS) in 10 kHz. Current-frequency calibration was done in offline by applying stepwise current increase while LED flickering was measured. Once the performance of the test circuits was evaluated, a metal pad for collecting ion bombardment during plasma etch condition was placed inside etch chamber, and the LED output frequency was measured in real-time. It was successful to acquire high speed optical emission data acquisition in 10 kHz. Offline measurement with the test circuitry was satisfactory, and we are continuously investigating the potential of real-time in-situ plasma induce current measurement via OPMS.

Fenton oxidation method using hydrogen peroxide is an eco-friendly oxidation method used in water treatment and soil restoration. When removing pollutants by this method, it is quite important to properly regulate the concentration of hydrogen peroxide according to the concentration of the contaminants. In this study, electrochemical biosensors using HRP (horseradish peroxidase) enzymes were manufactured and studies were conducted on the activity of enzymes and the detection characteristics of hydrogen peroxide. HRP were electro deposited with chitosan and AuNP on the working electrode surface of the SPCE (Screen Printed Carbon Electrode). Then, the fixation of enzymes was confirmed using the cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The activity of HRP enzymes was also identified from chronoamperometry (CA) and UV spectroscopy. After immersing the biosensor in PBS solution the current generated from electrodes by titrating hydrogen peroxide was measured from CA analysis. The generated current increased linearly for the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, and a calibration curve was derived that could predict the concentration of hydrogen peroxide from the current.
In this paper, for the first time, the electroanalytical study of Triethylenediamine, TEDA was done on a typically graphene modified carbon paste electrode (Gr/CPE) in pH=10.5 of phosphate buffer solutions (PBS). The surface morphology of the bare and modified electrodes was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The electro-oxidation of TEDA was investigated at the surface of modified electrode. The results revealed that the oxidation peak current of TEDA at the surface of Gr/CPE is 2.70 times than that shown at bare-CPE. A linear calibration plot was observed in the range of 1.0 to 202.0 ppm. In this way, the detection limit was found to be 0.18 ppm. The method was then successfully applied to determination of TEDA in aqueous samples obtained from two kinds of activated carbon from the masks of war. On the other hand, density functional theory (DFT) method at B3LYP/6-311++G** level of theory and a conductor-like Polarizable Continuum Model (CPCM) was used to calculate the $pK_a$ values of TEDA. The energies of lowest unoccupied molecular orbital ($E_{LUMO}$) and highest occupied molecular orbital ($E_{HOMO}$), gap energy (${\Delta}E$) and some thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy of TEDA and its conjugate acid ($HT^+$) were calculated. The results of calculated $pK_a$ were found to be in good agreement with the experimental values.

A 1.8V 2-Gb/s scalable low voltage signaling (SLVS) transmitter (TX) is designed for mobile applications requiring high speed and low power consumption. It consists of 4-lane TX for data transmission, 1-lane TX for a source synchronous clocking, and a 8-phase clock generator. The proposed SLVS TX has the scaling voltage swing from 50 mV to 650 mV and supports a high speed (HS) mode and a low power (LP) mode. An output impedance calibration scheme for the SVLS TX is proposed to improve the signal integrity. The proposed SLVS TX is implemented by using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ 1-poly 6-metal CMOS with a 1.8V supply. The simulated data jitter of the implemented SLVS TX is about 8.04 ps at the data rate of 2-Gbps. The area and power consumption of the 1-lane of the proposed SLVS TX are $422{\times}474{\mu}m^2$ and 5.35 mW/Gb/s, respectively.
