  • Numerous studies have linked empowerment to employee's behaviors and attitudes. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of empowerment on the organizational commitment and turnover intention of social worker in private social welfare organizations. For the research, empowerment was consisted of meaning, competence, self-determination and impact. This study was analyzed 342 social workers by survey. The results of this study were summarized as follows: Social Workers had correlation to empowerment on the organizational commitment (+). Especially, meaning, self-determination and impact had a positive effect on the organizational commitment; Meaning, competence, and self-determination had a negative effect on the turnover intention. This study finally discussed theoretical implications for future study and practical implications for empowerment strategies on the results.

  • According to the pedestrian protection regulations of Europe and Japan, the head injury must not exceed a limitation in the defined test condition for the protection of pedestrians from a vehicle crash. However, it is difficult to evaluate the performance of protection because each regulation has different test conditions such as dummy, impact speed and so on. This circumstance needs the development of a model that describes the anthropometry of the crash victim with a sufficient accuracy. We constructed scaled pedestrian dummies using MADYSCALE. Simulations were performed for various crash speeds and pedestrian postures. The scaled Korean dummies and HybridIII dummies were used to compare the pedestrian dynamic behaviors and head injury criteria during the collision. The HIC values of scaled korean dummies were found to be higher than those of Hybrid III dummies. The impact for gait posture was less than that for standing.

  • effect of pounding and friction between oscillators upon global response behaviors of a bridge system under seismic excitations are examined in this study. For convenience an idealized mechanical model is proposed which still retains the dynamic characteristics of bridge motions using multiple oscillators, Each oscillator is consisting of four degrees-of-freedom to implement the pounding between the adjacent oscillators and friction at movable supports, The impact element and bi-linear model are utilized for pounding and friction at movable supports. The impact element and bi-linear model are utilized for pounding and friction respectively. Also the effects of abutments are investigated by adding the addition oscillators consisting of two degrees-of-freedom. The effects of pounding and frictions are determined using the proposed model and the effect of the abutment is also verified, It is found that both pounding and friction affect the bridge responses significantly while the first pounding occurs between the abutment and the nearby oscillator.

  • In this paper, we analyze the impact of superframe order on the performance of the IEEE 802.15.4 slotted CSMA/CA. A new analytic model to evaluate the saturation throughput is proposed. The new model describes slot time behaviors of the IEEE 802.15.4 slotted CSMA/CA. The proposed model is validated via the comparison with ns-2 simulation results.

  • The structural behaviors under wheel loads are much different from those under uniform loads which are generally adopted for the design of parking garage. In such a viewpoint, the structural behavior of a Half-PC concrete underground parking garage under wheel loads was investigated using the site instrumentations. The static wheel loads were applied on the structure to evaluate the actual static resistance, and moving load tests were also performed to evaluate the impact factors of the structure. Besides, the impact tests were also conducted to estimate the modal parameters of the structure. Through the experimental investigations, it was found that the structural performance of the underground parking garage can be improved by use of structural type such as Half-PC concrete structures.

  • Survivability of the general purpose warhead during the target impact was studied. We first simulated the penetration phenomena and temporarily defined the survivability of the warhead at the impact situation. Next we launched the warhead projectiles by using Counter Mass Gun(CMG) system against the simulated specific steel target. The recovered warheads were carefully investigated and the penetration behaviors were analyzed. As a result the warhead can be hardened efficiently to enhance the survivability with the help of CMG test & analysis.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the impact of concentrated nonlinearities, freeplays, on the aeroelastic behaviors of single- and double-folded control fins. The nonlinearities may cause limit cycle oscillation(LCO) below the linear flutter boundary. The effects of nonlinear hinges on LCO characteristics of the fins are examined as flight condition changes. Nonlinear time-domain flutter analyses are performed, using ZAERO. The results show that the aeroelastic stability boundaries of double-folded fin(DF) are higher than those of the single-folded fin(SF) and the lower hinge freeplay impact more critically on the stability than the upper hinge freeplay of the DF.

  • Manufacturing firms face a paradigm shift from industrial systems driven by efficiency to post-industrial systems where success depends on a quick-response to customer demands for a variety of high-quality products. In essence, time is becoming a critical dimension for competition. New information technologies allow many firms to pursue time-based competitive strategies. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship among the types of information technology, behaviors of suppliers, the structures of new product development processes, and the competitiveness of the firms. The data for this study were collected from 96 Korean manufacturing firms that have implemented certain types of information technologies. Research results from LISREL analysis confirm that the competitiveness comes from product innovation capabilities and innovative product development process. But the linkage between the information technologies and the firms' competitiveness proves to be indirect. Suppliers, organizational culture related to IT, and some other factors also have indirect impact on the competitiveness. A summarized report of other findings is provided as well.

  • The package used to transport radioactive materials, which is called by cask, must be safe under normal and hypothetical accident conditions. These requirements for the cask design must be verified through test or finite element analysis. Since the cost for FE analysis is less than one for test. the verification by FE analysis is mainly used. But due to the complexity of mechanical behaviors. the results depends on how users apply the codes and it can cause severe errors during analysis. In this paper, finite element analysis is carried out for the 9 meters free drop and the puncture condition of the hypothetical accident conditions using LS-DYNA3D and ABAQUS/Explicit. We have investigated the analyzing technique for the free drop impact test of the cask and found several vulnerable cases to errors. The analyzed results were compared with each other. We have suggested a reliable and relatively simple analysis technique for the drop test of spent nuclear fuel casks.

  • This paper is aimed to find out the impact of the geometrical parameters, mainly the radius and the height of a cylinder, on the SGEMP response including the famous scaling law in the classical cylinder model using a homemade PIC code UNIPIC-3D. We computed the electric fields at the center and at the edge on the emission head face with different radii and heights under normal X-rays incidence. The results show that the electric field will increase with the radius but decrease with the height. We analyze the scaling law that links the electric field product and fluence product, and whereafter an irreconcilable contradiction raises when the radius is changeable, which limits the application range of the scaling law. Moreover, the field-height-radius relation is found and described by a combination of logarithmic and minus one-quarter numerical fitting law firstly. Particle and magnetic field distributions are used to explain all the behaviors of the fields reasonably. All the findings will assist the evaluation of SGEMP response in spacecraft protection.
