  • This paper presents the free vibration analysis of 3D printed sandwich beams by using high-order theories based on the Carrera Unified Formulation (CUF). In particular, the component-wise (CW) approach is adopted to achieve a high fidelity model of the printed part. The present model has been used to build an accurate database for collecting first natural frequency of the beams, then predicting Young's modulus based on an inverse problem formulation. The database is built from a set of randomly generated material properties of various values of modulus of elasticity. The inverse problem then allows finding the elastic modulus of the input parameters starting from the information on the required set of the output achieved experimentally. The natural frequencies evaluated during the experimental test acquired using a Digital Image Correlation method have been compared with the results obtained by the means of CUF-CW model. The results obtained from the free-vibration analysis of the FDM beams, performed by higher-order one-dimensional models contained in CUF, are compared with ABAQUS results both first five natural frequency and degree of freedoms. The results have shown that the proposed 1D approach can provide 3D accuracy, in terms of free vibration analysis of FDM printed sandwich beams with a significant reduction in the computational costs.

  • If the interlaced scan type camera moves while an image is filming from the camera, blur is often created from the misalignment of the two images of even and odd lines. This paper proposed an algorithm which removes the misalignment of the even and odd line images cased by the vibration of the interlaced scan type camera. The blurred original image is separated into the even and the odd line images as half size. Based on these two images, two full sized images are generated using interpolation technique. If a big difference between these two interpolated images is generated, the original image is taken while the camera is moving. In this case, a deblurred image is obtained with the alignment of these separated two images through feature point extraction, feature point matching, sub-pixel matching, outlier detection, and image mosaicking processes. This paper demonstrated that the proposed algorithm can create clear images from blurred images caused by various camera motions.

  • This study aims to induce acoustic environmental characteristics which could be used for soundscape design by carrying out factor analysis on sound source image and cognition analysis on subjects' responses on selective questions due to class differences. The results of this study are as follows ; Satisfaction rate differences on exterior acoustic environment due to sensitivity and residence year were revealed. After factor analysis of living sound sources' image, it is known that natural sound, traditional sound, socials traffic sound, rural sound, religious sound and the others are main factors. Social traffic sound is the most one that should be eliminated and traditional sound is selected as a most Korean-like sound. Natural sound is evaluated as the most one that should be preserved and the most retrospectively one.

  • Automobile sunroof buffeting is the tonal noise of low frequency around 20Hz. It occurs due to the acoustic feedback process between the shear layer detached from the leading edge of sunroof opening and the Helmholtz resonator-like property of a car cabin. In this paper, PIV visualization technique is applied to the unsteady flow field around sunroof opening of an SUV in the full-scale automotive wind tunnel in order to find out buffeting mechanism. A phase-marking PIV measurement method, in which image and sound pressure are recorded simultaneously, and a phase-rearrangement post-processing program were developed for capturing noise-related velocity fields without expensive synchronization systems. Through this study, some characteristics of the real-car sunroof shear layers under various deflector conditions were identified and these results can provide insights into the noise reduction mechanism of the tube-type deflector.

  • A camera module is supported by a gimbal structure in collection equipment of image information. During flight, the gimbal system undergoes serious accelerations with wide frequencies. To get the correct images, the camera module must be stably vibrated under these conditions. If natural frequency unfortunately exists in a exciting frequency range, resonance occurs there. Hence, harmonic responses analysis is needed to know correct vibration characteristic of the gimbal system. Finite element analysis was performed to get an acceleration of the gimbal system by mode superposition after extracting mode shapes and natural frequencies. Considering damping ratio of 2%, the reponses of gimbal structure were calculated from excitations with a design frequency band. As results, a maximum acceleration transmissibility, which is the ratio of response to excitation, was obtained and it can be used to design the gimbal structure effectively.

  • In a power plant, an oil and steam leakage is generated once in a while. This is because the operating temperature and pressure of oil are very high. It is very difficult to monitor oil leakage, because oil leakage is almost invisible. Therefore a method to oil leakage detecting quickly and accurately is needs. In this paper, we proposed the method for the detecting oil leakage by using image processing and CCTV. To test the performance of this technique, experiments have been performed for simple case. Results show that the proposed technique is quite powerful in the oil leak detection.

  • In non-contact mode atomic force microscopy, the response of a resonating tip is used to measure the nanoscale topography and other properties of a sample surface. However, the tip-surface interactions can affect the tip response and destabilize the non-contact mode control. Especially it is difficult to obtain a good scanned image of high adhesion surfaces such as polymers using conventional hard NCHR tip and non-contact mode control. In this study, experimental investigation is made on the non-contact mode imaging and we report the microcantilever having low stiffness (OMCL) is useful to measure the properties of samples such as elasticity. In addition, we proved that it was adequate to use low stiffness microcantilever to obtain a good scanned image in AFM for the soft and high adhesion sample.

  • The relationship between sound and vision was experimentally confirmed by physicist Ernst Florens Friedrich Chladni as early as the 18th century and formally entered into systematic research. With the development of emerging media technology, sound reactive type visual content is not limited to a single visual interaction based on the vibration of sound, and its visual content shows a diversified and scalable development trend according to different purposes in many fields. This study analyzes the development and changes of sound visual art contents from early stage to modernization, and analyzes the development characteristic of sound visual art content in different fields and scene environments influence by interactive media, new media technologies and devices by means of case analysis. Through this research, it is expected that the sound reactive type visual art content can continue to develop and extend in the existing fields, while explore the scalability of the application of sound reactive type visual art content in more fields.

  • Very often, one would like to have visual image of mechanical or acoustical events such as musical sound and transient vibrations. Conventional methods to visualize the signal, such as power spectrum, do not normally allow to cultivate the signal of interests due to their inherent limitation on transient signals. Other than the conventional method, one could use an instantaneous frequency which can reveal the variation of frequency in terms of time. Nevertheless it is quite sensitive to noise and can not resolve the frequency components of signals; normally produces additional components other than those of the signals. In this paper, we introduce the Wigner-Ville spectrum to see the transient characteristics of signal, especially musical sound and transient mechanical vibration signatures. For musical sound, several popular western classic music have been selected for the analysis. For the transient mechanical signature, the signals obtained from the car door experiment and the beam experiment are interpreted in terms of Wigner-Ville spectrum. Results demonstrate the visual expressions of transient signals; musical sound and vibrations.

  • In this paper, a newly radial electronic shearography system was developed in order to study vibration characteristics of symmetrical objects. We utilized the electro-optic holography theory for quantificational analysis and a porror prism for shearing two inages radially in this study. These image data obtained by this shearography give us various distributions of the gradient of vibration amplitude, and they are useful informations to study vibrational characteristics of symmetrical objects. Finally this developed system with phase stepping and modulation was applied to fans and disks to inspect characteristics of the vibration and the blance of symmetrical objects and obtained good results.
