인쇄회로기판 검사를 위한 기하학적 영상 왜곡의 보정 방법 (Correction Method for Geometric Image Distortion and Its Application to PCB Inspection Systems)

  • The geometric distortion of image is one of the most important parameters that take effect on the accuracy of optical inspection systems. We propose a new correction method of the image distortion to increase the accuracy of PCB inspection systems. The model-free method is applied to correct the randomly distorted image that cannot be represented by mathematical model. To reduce the correction time of inspection system, we newly propose a grid reduction algorithm that minimize the number of grids by the quad-tree approach. We apply the proposed method to a PCB inspection system, and verify its usefulness through experiments using actual inspection images.

  • This paper proposes a new quantitative and objective image quality metric which is essential to verify the performance of block-based DCT image coding. The proposed metric considers not only global distortion of coded image such as spatial frequency sensitivity and channel masking using HVS based multi-channel model, but also structural distortions caused block-based coding. The experimental results show a strong correlation between proposed metric and subjective metric.

  • The mainly used technique to rectify satellite images with distortion is to develop a mathematical relationship between the pixel coordinates on the image and the corresponding points on the ground. By defining the relationship between two coordinate systems, a polynomial model is designed and various linear transformations are used. These GCP based geometric correction has performed overall plane to plane mapping. In the overall plane mapping, overall structure of a scene is considered, but local variation is discarded. The highly variant height of region is resampled with distortion in the rectified image. To solve this problem this paper proposed the TIN-based rectification on a satellite image. The TIN based rectification is good to correct local distortion, but insufficient to reflect overall structure of one scene. So, this paper shows the experimental result and the analysis of each rectification model. It also describes the relationship GCP distribution and rectification model. We can choose a geometric correction model as the structural characteristic of a satellite image and the acquired GCP distribution.

  • 일반적으로 실제 사용되는 카메라들은 렌즈 왜곡이 존재하며, 렌즈왜곡의 정도는 카메라의 가격뿐만 아니라 특정 용도에 의해 달라진다. 현재까지의 많은 렌즈 왜곡 보정기법들은 왜곡 변수를 찾기 위해 투영 기하학의 불변량 속성을 기반으로 한 것으로, "물체의 직선은 이미지에서의 직선"이라는 상식에서 출발한다. 하지만, 평행선인 경우 이전의 연구들은 렌즈 왜곡 변수를 결정하는데 제약이 있다. 본 논문에서는 렌즈왜곡 변수를 결정할 때 동시에 평행선 유지를 보증할 수 있는 방법을 제안함으로써, 핀홀 카메라 모델을 이용하여 투영된 이미지와 실제 이미지가 근접한 결과를 얻게 된다. 실제 이미지와 제안된 기법을 사용한 보정이미지를 비교하여 그 효율성을 입증하였다.

  • Image distortions are typically characterized by degradations of structures. Dictionaries learned from natural images can capture the underlying structures in images, which are important for image quality assessment (IQA). This paper presents a general-purpose no-reference image quality metric using a GRadient-Induced Dictionary (GRID). A dictionary is first constructed based on gradients of natural images using K-means clustering. Then image features are extracted using the dictionary based on Euclidean-norm coding and max-pooling. A distortion classification model and several distortion-specific quality regression models are trained using the support vector machine (SVM) by combining image features with distortion types and subjective scores, respectively. To evaluate the quality of a test image, the distortion classification model is used to determine the probabilities that the image belongs to different kinds of distortions, while the regression models are used to predict the corresponding distortion-specific quality scores. Finally, an overall quality score is computed as the probability-weighted distortion-specific quality scores. The proposed metric can evaluate image quality accurately and efficiently using a small dictionary. The performance of the proposed method is verified on public image quality databases. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed metric can generate quality scores highly consistent with human perception, and it outperforms the state-of-the-arts.

  • An image attention model and its application to image quality assessment are discussed in this paper. The attention model is based on rarity quantification, which is related to self-information to attract the attention in an image. It is relatively simpler than the others but results in taking more consideration of global contrasts between a pixel and the whole image. The visual attention model is used to develop a local distortion predictor, named color visual differences predictor (CVDP), in color images in order to effectively detect luminance and color distortions.

  • Pin-hole model has been widely used as a robust tool for easily understanding how to obtain a stereo image and how to present the depth-cue to an observer in stereoscopy. However, most of the processes to analyze depth cue in stereoscopy are performed that a stereo image is taken by camera model practically but depth cue of the image is analyzed by pin-hole model. Therefore, the result of depth cues by the process to be uncorrected. The reason of the uncorrected depth cue is led to the image distances of camera model due to variable focused object distances, and it makes a depth distortion. In this paper, we tried to show the contradiction such as occurring depth distortion in the process which the pin-hole model is used to analyze depth cue despite practical camera model is used in stereoscopy, and we presents the method to overcome the contradiction.

어안렌즈 터널영상의 경계선 왜곡 보정 (Distortion Correction of Boundary Lines in a Tunnel Image Captured by Fisheye Lens)

  • 어안렌즈는 사각이 넓어서 터널 내부 벽면의 영상을 취득하는 데 유용하다. 원통투영의 원리를 이용하여 어안렌즈터널 영상을 우리의 눈에 익숙한 일반 영상으로 변환시킬 수 있는데, 이 과정에서 여러 종류의 왜곡이 발생하게 된다. 본 논문은 투영영상의 터널 바닥면과 벽면 사이 경계선에서 발생하는 왜곡을 다루고 있다. 경계선 왜곡의 발생 원인을 분석하고 모형을 제작하여 보정량 계산식을 유도하였다. Visual C++로 제작한 소프트웨어를 이용하여 계산된 보정량을 투영영상에 적용한 결과 경계선이 보정된 영상을 얻을 수 있었다. 투영영상에 나타난 다른 왜곡에 대한 연구가 추가된다면 어안렌즈 영상을 통해 실제 터널 벽면과 유사한 영상을 얻을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Mass-Spring-Damper Model for Offline Handwritten Character Distortion Analysis

  • Among the various aspects of offline handwritten character patterns, it is the great variety of writing styles and variations that renders the task of computer recognition very hard. The immense variety of character shape has been recognized but rarely studied during the past decades of numerous research efforts. This paper tries to address the problem of measuring image distortions and handwritten character patterns with respect to reference patterns. This work is based on mass-spring mesh model with the introduction of simulated electric charge as a source of the external force that can aid decoding the shape distortion. Given an input image and a reference image, the charge is defined, and then the relaxation procedure goes to find the optimum configuration of shape or patterns of least potential. The relaxation process is based on the fourth order Runge-Kutta algorithm, well-known for numerical integration. The proposed method of modeling is rigorous mathematically and leads to interesting results. Additional feature of the method is the global affine transformation that helps analyzing distortion and finding a good match by removing a large scale linear disparity between two images.
