A Genetic Algorithm for Minimizing Total Tardiness with Non-identical Parallel Machines (이종 병렬설비 공정의 납기지연시간 최소화를 위한 유전 알고리즘)

  • This paper considers a parallel-machine scheduling problem with dedicated and common processing machines using GA (Genetic Algorithm). Non-identical setup times, processing times and order lot size are assumed for each machine. The GA is proposed to minimize the total-tardiness objective measure. In this paper, heuristic algorithms including EDD (Earliest Due-Date), SPT (Shortest Processing Time) and LPT (Longest Processing Time) are compared with GA. The effectiveness and suitability of the GA are derived and tested through computational experiments.

Exact Outage Probability Analysis of Proactive Relay Selection in Cognitive Radio Networks with MRC Receivers

  • Proactive relay selection in cognitive radio networks has recently received considerable attention. However, its outage probability analysis is limited to partially-identical fading distributions, uncorrelation among received signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), and no direct channel. This paper completes this literature deficiency by generalizing the existing analysis for non-identical fading distributions, correlation among received SNRs, and with direct channel. Numerous results demonstrate that relay selection with a direct channel achieves a higher diversity order and superior performance than that without a direct channel at virtually no cost of power and bandwidth. Further, proactive relay selection suffers an error floor at either a large maximum transmit power or large maximum interference power; however, the error floor level can be significantly remedied with an increase in the number of relays.

Development of a Grading Increment at Armhole Area by Apparel CAD System (어패럴 CAD 시스템에서 진동둘레 그레이딩 편차 설정)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a grading increment at armhole area by apparel CAD(Computer Aided Design) system. In developing a grading increment at armhole area, we analyzed ease values of armhole area in bodice and sleeve by manual drafting patterns of five sizes. We suggested grading increments applied Pythagorean theorem to development the grading increment of the armhole of sleeve. The results and discussions of this study were as follows: 1. In drafting each size, the ease values were not identical. It was difficult to draft perfectly the same armhole line shape between sizes. 2. According to our developed grading increments applied Pythagorean theorem, the ease values were identical between sizes and difference of the armhole length between sizes was also identical. 3. The grading formulas were made out for apparel CAD system. Once grading increment or formula is set in the computer, it can be easily altered to various clothing items at any time. The efficiency of grading work will be also improved and grading time will be reduced.

  • This paper considers a non-identical parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence and machine dependent setup times. The objective of this problem is to determine the allocation of jobs and the scheduling of each machine to minimize makespan. A mathematical model for optimal solution is derived. An in-depth analysis of the model shows that it is very complicated and difficult to obtain optimal solutions as the problem size becomes large. Therefore, two meta-heuristics, genetic algorithm (GA) and a new population-based evolutionary meta-heuristic called self-evolution algorithm (SEA), are proposed. The performances of the meta-heuristic algorithms are evaluated through compare with optimal solutions using randomly generated several examples.

Sensor-Based Path Planning for Planar Two-identical-Link Robots by Generalized Voronoi Graph (일반화된 보로노이 그래프를 이용한 동일 두 링크 로봇의 센서 기반 경로계획)

  • The generalized Voronoi graph (GVG) is a topological map of a constrained environment. This is defined in terms of workspace distance measurements using only sensor-provided information, with a robot having a maximum distance from obstacles, and is the optimum for exploration and obstacle avoidance. This is the safest path for the robot, and is very significant when studying the GVG edges of highly articulated robots. In previous work, the point-GVG edge and Rod-GVG were built with point robot and rod robot using sensor-based control. An attempt was made to use a higher degree of freedom robot to build GVG edges. This paper presents GVG-based a new local roadmap for the two-link robot in the constrained two-dimensional environment. This new local roadmap is called the two-identical-link generalized Voronoi graph (L2-GVG). This is used to explore an unknown planar workspace and build a local roadmap in an unknown configuration space $R^2{\times}T^2$ for a planar two-identical-link robot. The two-identical-link GVG also can be constructed using only sensor-provided information. These results show the more complex properties of two-link-GVG, which are very different from point-GVG and rod-GVG. Furthermore, this approach draws on the experience of other highly articulated robots.

  • In this paper we propose an inquiry task on the subject of congruent triangles. The task deals with conditions that are sufficient for congruency, and conditions that are insufficient. The aim of the task is to find the minimal number of identical components in two triangles that is sufficient to ensure congruency.

  • Synchronization of unidirectional identical FitzHugh-Nagumo systems coupled in a ring structure under ionic and external electrical stimulations is investigated. In this network, each neuron is only connected and transmit signals to its next neuron via synaptic strength called gapjunctions. Adaptive control theory and Lyapunov stability theory are used to propose a unique control scheme with necessary and sufficient conditions which guarantee the synchronization of the neuronal network. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is shown through numerical simulations.

  • Nonparametric empirical Bayes estimation of a distribution function with respect to dirichlet process prior is considered when sample sizes are varying from component to component. Zehnwirth's estimate of $\alpha$(R) is modified to be used in our empirical Bayes problem with non-identical components.

  • In this article, we present characterizations of the power distribution via the identical hazard rate of lower record values that $X_n$ has the power distribution if and only if for some fixed n, $n{\geq}1$, the hazard rate $h_W$ of $W=X_{L(n+1)}/X_{L(n)}$ is the same as the hazard rate h of $X_n$ or the hazard rate $h_V$ of $V=X_{L(n+2)}/X_{L(n+1)}$.
