  • Hybrid electric propulsion systems (H-EPSs) are an intermediate step for integrated full electric propulsion warships. H-EPSs are a dynamic combination of mechanical and electrical propulsion systems to achieve the required mission performances. The system modes could adapt to meet the requirement of the various operation conditions of a warship. This paper presents a configuration and operating modes of H-EPSs considering the operation conditions of a destroyer class warship. The system has three propulsion modes, namely, motoring mode, generating mode [power take off (PTO) mode], and mechanical mode. The PTO mode requires a careful fuel efficiency analysis because the fuel consumption rate of propulsion engines may be low compared with the generator's engines depending on the loading power. Therefore, the calculation of fuel consumption according to the operating modes is performed in this study. Although the economics of the PTO mode depends on system cases, it has an advantage in that it ensures the reliability of electric power in case of blackout or minimum generator operation.

Development of Hybrid Prototype Dual Load Cell Structure (하이브리드 프로토타입 듀얼 로드 셀 구조 개발)

  • We have developed the hybrid prototype load cell structures. These developed load cell structures may increase the reliability of the load sensing by deriving the load values through the double sensing method through the vertical maximum deflection and bending stress of the simple beams. For this purpose, the structure design was performed so that the load value, the deflection and stress value could be output to the same value through the optimal structure design. The structurally designed dimensions reaffirmed the accuracy of the design through the structural analysis program and the matching of the load value and the deflection value. Based on the designed structural dimension, the prototype form was constructed through laser cutting and production using hot rolled steel materials. The developed prototype load cell structure can be used as good educational material in various subjects such as material mechanics, steel structure design, measurement engineering, and mechatronics engineering. It is also believed that the measurement system ideas can inform the occurrence of errors in the event of a problem, and if a major accident caused by a sensing error is predicted, it will show good utilization to prevent accidents.

  • In this work, the hybrid vibro-acoustic model reduction technique that is a physical-modal combined formulation is proposed to accelerate the finite element model updating process of the vibro-acoustic pipeline system. Particularly, the new formulation could provide an effective way of the model updating by preserving the physical DOFs for the direct calibration of the undetermined boundary conditions. The sensitivity based vibro-acoustic model updating is first conducted, and then the undetermined spring constant at the displacement boundary condition is then directly and effectively calibrated by using the proposed hybrid model reduction formulation. The proposed method is implemented in the real nuclear facility to evaluate its performance. In addition, an experimental implementation test using the inverse force identification process is also conducted to demonstrate the reliability of the generated vibro-acoustic FE model through the proposed method.

  • Wireless data communication is easy to be affected by channel noise and degrade reliability and stability by the multipath fading and ISI compared with wired data communication. In this paper, we designed and implemented indoor wireless modem adopted DQPSK modulation scheme for improvement of bandwidth efficiency, and convolutional encoding, Viterbi decoding and hybrid ARQ algorithm combinig FEC with CRC for efficient error control in indoor wireless channel. Testing the implemented wireless modem, we verified the proposed scheme is proper to efficient and reliable indoor wireless data communication.

A Hybrid Fault Diagnosis Method based on SDG and PLS;Tennessee Eastman Challenge Process

  • The hybrid fault diagnosis method based on a combination of the signed digraph (SDG) and the partial least-squares (PLS) has the advantage of improving the diagnosis resolution, accuracy and reliability, compared to those of previous qualitative methods, and of enhancing the ability to diagnose multiple fault. In this study, the method is applied for the multiple fault diagnosis of the Tennessee Eastman challenge process, which is a realistic industrial process for evaluating process contol and monitoring methods. The process is decomposed using the local qualitative relationships of each measured variable. Dynamic PLS (DPLS) model is built to estimate each measured variable, which is then compared with the estimated value in order to diagnose the fault. Through case studies of 15 single faults and 44 double faults, the proposed method demonstrated a good diagnosis capability compared with previous statistical methods.

  • Thispapr proposes hybrid navigation parameter estimation using sequential aerial images. The proposed navigation parameter estimation system is composed of two parts: relative position estimation and absolute position estimation. the relative position estimation recursively computes the current velocity and absolute position estimation. The relative position estimation recursively computes the current velocity and position of an aircraft by accumulating navigation parameters extracted from two succesive aerial images. Simple accumulation of parameter values decreases reliability of the extracted parameters as an aircraft goes on navigating. therefore absolute position estimation is required to compensate for position error generated in the relative position step. The absolute position estimation algorithm combining image matching and digital elevation model(DEM) matching is presented. Computer simulation with real aerial image sequences shows the efficiency of the proposed hybrial algorithm.

  • 현재 많이 사용되고 있는 P2P개념으로는 순수 P2P와 변경 P2P구조가 있다[3]. 순수 P2P의 모델에는 Gnutella와 stella등의 형태가 존재하고 변형 P2P로는 무수히 많은 형태가 존재한다. 이 변형 P2P모델들 중파일 공유 모델들이 존재하는데 이 모델들은 파일의 공유를 위한 그룹 관리와 검색, 색인 등의 기능을 제공한다. 파일공유 모델의 Peer들에 대해 연결성 유지를 위한 많은 부하와 사용자에 있어서 그룹에 대한 형태의 문제점 그리고 서버의 Fail에 대한 비연결성에 관한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 라우팅 기법에서의 접근을 통해 과일공유모델에 계층적 구조를 적용하고 Backup시스템을 설계하여 사용자에 의한 효율적인 그룹관리와 연결의 신뢰성을 유지하기 위해 시스템을 설계하였다.

  • Microgrid is a convenient, reliable, and eco-friendly approach for the integration of Distributed Generation (DG) sources into the utility power systems. To date, AC microgrids have been the most common architecture, but DC microgrids are gaining an increasing interest owing to the provision of numerous benefits in comparison with AC ones. These benefits encompass higher reliability, power quality and transmission capacity, non-complex control as well as direct connection to some DG sources, loads and Energy Storage Systems (ESSs). In this paper, main challenges and available approaches for the protection of AC and DC microgrids are discussed. After description, analysis and classification of the existing schemes, some research directions including coordination between AC and DC protective devices as well as development of combined control and protection schemes for the realization of future hybrid AC/DC microgrids are pointed out.

  • This paper presents an optimum design of rotor-bearing system using a hybrid method to compute the solutions of optimization problem. The present hybrid algorithm namely Enhanced Artificial Life Algorithm(EALA), is a synthesis of an artificial life algorithm(ALA) and the random tabu search(R-tabu) method. We applied EALA to the optimum design of rotor-shaft system supported by the floating ring journal bearings. we will propose the optimum shape of rotor, position and shape of bearings. Through this study, we investigate the reliability and usefulness of EALA.

  • In this paper, the Hybrid ARQ system using Reed-Solomon code is designed and performance is analyzed. The Hybrid ARQ system performs much better that FEC or ARQ system concerning throughput and reliability especially when the channel error rate is high, approximately $10^{-1}$~$10^{-2}$. Computer Simulation shows that one error is corrected, four errors are detected and codewords which are out of order by retransmission are delivered to the user in order and that performance is excellent.
