Hybrid TDOA/AOA Localization Algorithm for GPS Jammers (GPS 전파교란원 위치 추정을 위한 TDOA/AOA 복합 기법 설계)

  • For a localization system, the TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) measurement and AOA (Angle of Arrival) measurement are often used for estimating target's positions. Although it is known that the accuracy of TDOA based localization is superior to that of AOA based one, it may have a poor vertical accuracy in bad geometrical conditions. This paper, therefore, proposes a localization algorithm in which the vertical position is estimated by AOA measurements and the horizontal one is estimated by TDOA measurement in order to achieve high 3D-location accuracy. And this algorithm is applied to a GPS jammer localization systems because it has a large value of the DOP (Dilution of Precision) when the jammer is located far away from the system. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid TDOA/AOA location algorithm gives much higher location accuracy than TDOA or AOA only location.

  • In this paper, an image segmentation algorithm is described to extract both the contour line and the inner grid patterns of body in case of ambiguous environment. The binary method using a threshold is used to extract image boundary. To reduce image noise, the $3{\times}3$ hybrid high pass filter adjusted for applying 3D information extraction of complicated shape object is proposed. This hybrid high pass filter algorithm can be applied to extract complicated shape object such as 3D body shape, CAD system, and factory automation since the processing time for image denoising is shorter than the conventional methods.

Efficiency Evaluation of a Hybrid Propulsion Fuel Cell Ship Based on AIS Data (항적 데이터에 기반한 하이브리드 추진 연료전지 선박의 효율 평가)

  • Efforts have been made to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from ships by limiting the energy efficiency index, and net zero CO2 emission was proposed recently. The most ideal measure to achieve zero emission ship is electrification, and fuel cells are considered as a practical power source of the electrified propulsion system. The electric efficiency in the electrochemical reaction of fuel cells can be achieved up to 60% practically. The remaining energy is converted to heat energy but most of them are dissipated by cooling. In the author's previous research, a hybrid propulsion system utilizing not only electricity but also heat was introduced by combining electric motor and steam turbine. In this article, long term efficiency is evaluated for the introduced hybrid propulsion system by considering a virtual 24,000 TEU class container carrier model. To reflect a more practical operating condition, the actual navigation data of a similar real ship in the real world were collected from automatic identification system data and applied. From the result, the overall efficiency of the hybrid propulsion system is expected to be higher than a conventional electric propulsion fuel cell ship by 30%.

  • In this paper, we propose a design method and process for hybrid V2X communication platform that combines WAVE communication and LTE-V2X communication which are C-ITS communication protocols for vehicle environments and Legacy LTE communication which is a commercial mobile communication for evaluating the autonomous platooning platform of commercial vehicles. For a safe and efficient autonomous platooning platform, an low-latency communication function based on C-ITS communication is required, and to control it, commercial communication functions such as Legacy LTE, which can be connected at all times, are required. In order to evaluate such a system, the evaluation equipment must have the same level of communication performance or higher. The main design contents presented in this paper will be applied to the implementation of hybrid V2X terminals for functional evaluation.

  • The rapid development of computer technology and widely application of artificial intelligent provide technology support for realizing navigation automation on the sea. which has achieved great success in shipping advanced countries like japan, England, America, Germany and also in the developing country, China. However, it still remains in the studying Period up to now in aspects of collision avoidance decision-making mathematical model and reasoning mechanism. In this paper, approaches are proposed to establish the collision avoidance automation system. One of them is based on the former studies to realize automation system by make use of finite state machine theory and following the International regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea, 1972. The others are to establish the new idea about automatic collision avoidance system by taking advantage of the free flight idea, hybrid system, game theory used in air traffic management studies in recent years and the common characteristics in both air and sea traffic management.

  • In this study, the correlation analysis between total system error and environmental factor variables was performed to confirm the effect on the performance of the integrated navigation system by various environmental factors. To collect flight data of hybrid vertical take-off and landing UAVs, scenarios including various turning sections and straight sections such as left turn, right turn, turning rate, and path change angle were selected, and environmental data of wind direction, wind speed, temperature, air pressure, and humidity were collected in real time through weather station. As a result of the correlation analysis between the collected flight data and environmental data, it was concluded that the performance of the integrated navigation system by environmental factors within the collected data was not significant affected and was robust.

  • In a hybrid three-layer control architecture(deliberative, sequencing, and reflexive), the lowest reflexive layer consists of resources, actions, an action coordinator, and motion controllers. Because the execution of individual components in the reflexive layer should be done in real-time, each component has to be simple and, due to this reason, the Linux-RTAI(Real-Time Application Interface for Linux) has been used as an operating system. In this paper, a navigation control architecture, which combines the components in the reflexive layer and the navigation-related modules in the sequencing layer, is proposed. And then, as basic components, four actions(Goto, Avoid, Move, and EmergencyStop) are designed. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and the performance of individual associated actions.

Vehicular Cooperative Navigation Based on H-SPAWN Using GNSS, Vision, and Radar Sensors (GNSS, 비전 및 레이더를 이용한 H-SPAWN 알고리즘 기반 자동차 협력 항법시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a vehicular cooperative navigation system using GNSS, vision sensor and radar sensor that are frequently used in mass-produced cars. The proposed cooperative vehicular navigation system is a variant of the Hybrid-Sum Product Algorithm over Wireless Network (H-SPAWN), where we use vision and radar sensors instead of radio ranging(i.e.,UWB). The performance is compared and analyzed with respect to the sensors, especially the position estimation error decreased about fifty percent when using radar compared to vision and radio ranging. In conclusion, the proposed system with these popular sensors can improve position accuracy compared to conventional cooperative navigation system(i.e.,H-SPAWN) and decrease implementation costs.

  • GPS is the representative positioning technology for providing the location information. This technique has the disadvantage that does not operate in the shadow areas, such as urban or dense forest and the interior. This paper proposes a hybrid indoor positioning algorithm, which estimates a more accurate location of the terminal using strength of the Wi-Fi signal from the indoor AP. To determine the location of the user, we establish the most appropriate path loss model for the measurement environment. by using the RSSI value measured in a variety of environment such as building structure, person, distance, etc. The path loss exponent obtained by the path loss model is changed according to the environment. REKF, PF estimate the position of the terminal by using measured value from the AP with path loss exponent. For more accurate position estimation, we select positioning system by the value of threshold measured by experiments rather than a single positioning system. Experimental results using the proposed hybrid algorithm show that the performance is improved by about 17% than the conventional single positioning method.

  • In this study, the system was composed of the booster chopper and the power converter, which is a pulse width modulation (PWM) voltage inverter using a hybrid power generation system solar cell energy and wind force, Furthermore, in order to compensate the PWM voltage type inverter was linked with the general commercial power source, and through a normal operation of energy storage system (ESS), the system operated the LED Taxi Light by Wavelength according to Meteorological Changes at the airport in an efficient manner. The performance of the system was compared with the solar cell characteristics specification. In addition, for phase synchronization with the PWM voltage type inverter, the grid voltage was detected so as to operate the grid voltage and inverter output in the same phase and to connect the surplus electric power with the system. Finally, by developing a control circuit at the same time from which an excellent dynamic characteristics can be obtained through applying to the airport runway taxi light, it was concluded that a variety of taxi light can be pursued.
