현대미술과 패션에 나타난 섬유 및 소재의 물질성 (Materiality of Fabric in Contemporary Art and Fashion)

  • Fashion has been compared to art since Japanese avant-garde fashion designers expanded the thoughts about conceptual fashion in late 1970s. The fashion designers focused on the materiality of fashion textiles by placing more importance on it than the shapes. This bears a striking resemblance to contemporary art of 1960s and 1970s as many artists used soft materials like felt, fabric, rubber to emphasize themselves. This study establishes the materiality of fabric, which can be found in both contemporary art and fashion. The classification of materiality consists of flexibility, humanizing and temporality. In this work, there is a significant disparity between contemporary art and fashion.

  • This paper describes the intent of learners to acquire university education, the basis for selecting study courses, the means to assess the quality of higher education, what the challenges faced by the learners are, as well as suggestions for improvement. The design and system thinking approach has been adapted to address the well-being issues of B40 young people in Bangladesh, through understanding their need, followed by building conceptual business models using modeling tools, i.e., Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC) model. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the contribution and the role of a Malaysian University to solve problems of quality of higher education in Bangladesh and what initiatives should be taken to overcome this problem. This paper offers a validated conceptual Malaysian University of the Future (UotF) business model with the focus on international community engagement programs to help Bangladeshi students to acquire knowledge, abilities, skills, and values toward developing a harmonious and sustainable society. The contribution of this paper is the presentation of a conceptual, validated business model in both BMC and VPC formats. This conceptual business model can further be applied to civic engagement operations by other universities.

  • Recent paradigm in technology shifts from object-based technology to environment-based technology. Issue here is interaction among human, machines, and environment. This requires new interpretations for the space among them. Holistic interactions based on “Mom (embodiment)” suggest a good starting point for this endeavor. The past, present, future of technology are presented in terms of technology’s fundamental virtue: “humanizing technology” or “technology serving human.” Interactive technology initiative (ITI) is an interdisciplinary research group to search for the proper technology and the proper way of implementing technology: “interactive technology” or “soft engineering.” Some experimental activities conducted by ITI are presented in this organized session, “Interactive Technology.” Metatechnology, soft engineering, “Mom (embodiment),” holistic interactions, tangible space, and ubiquitous computing are key concepts in interactive technology.

볼프스부르크 문화센터의 건축 특성과 의미에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Architectural Characteristics and Meaning of Wolfsburg Cultural Center)

  • In Alvar Aalto's designs, important factors of complex building designs including Wolfsburg cultural center are that they insinuate how to develop each architectural type and how to combine them in a building. The humane and physical background studies, and wholistic and systematic approaches are adopted to fulfill research purposes. Comparison with other buildings are necessary to reveal true meaning of this building. The result of analysis show characteristics of Wolfsburg cultural center as follows; hybrid composition of mass and elevation, spatial effect using level difference and light, massing variation of roof, and creating space for various activities. Wolfsburg cultural center designed in late 1950s has greatly affected Aalto's later works through various architectural experiments because it is the first cultural complex project that combined various architectural types. Especially library in the cultural center has shown transitional characteristics to famous fan-type libraries of 1960s while maintained features about Viipuri library. Wolfsburg cultural center act as an another type which present new principles of clustering, massing and exterior design. Its true meaning lies in forming a humanizing place beyond spatial configuration.

미국학교도서관기준에 나타난 SLMP의 교육적 이념 (The Educational Idea Presenting In the SLMP's Standards)

  • In the modern communicative age, the standards of the school libraries are the qualitative guarantee on the services of school libraries or school library media programs, as the guidline, the active guide, the policy documentation and criteria for the professional excellence. The standards of SLMP were revised the sixth time by the school library profession(ALA) with the members or agency of NEA in the U.S. There are the first standard was a quantitative; 'the Certain Report'(by A.L.A., 1920) appearing that the school library is the heart of the school, 2nd 1925; turning up the teaching material source and personel, 'School Libraries for today and tomorrow' (by AASL, 1945) incluseing the instructional materials and the 7th educational ideas in the quantitative feature, 'Standards for School Library Programs' (by AASL, 1960) expressing the instructional material center, communicative environment, learning and teaching laboratory, 'Standards for school media programs' (by DAVI & AASL, 1969) implicating the instructional resource, learning and teaching laboratory, the condition precedent of qualitative education for excellence, 'Standards for media programs; District/school (by AASL & AECT, 1975) containing the improving user's educational experience and personal freedom on the use of SLMP's services. Through changing the standards of SLMP in the US, We have known that the main educational idea in the standards are; (1) SLMP is the instructional force and resource for qualitative, excellence education by learning and teaching laboratory, instructional resource, communicative environment (2) SLMP is the actualizing force and resource for user's self-realization by intellectual and personal excellence, individualizing, humanizing and personalizing education.

Prada 패션 필름에 나타난 예술적 표현 (Artistic expression in fashion film of Prada)

  • The purpose of this study was to review and establish the two concepts of art film and artistic expression in Prada fashion films, through a literature review of domestic and international case studies, as a form of luxury branded content, Prada fashion films are considered to artistic film genre. For the study, aesthetic expression in art films as discussed in the previous research was divided into four types. The study method was to review fashion / art films from the founding of YouTube, specially, works that used digital images from Thunder Perfect Mind, which was introduced in Prada in 2005, to Nylon Farm in 2018, stylistic features were searched by film. In addition, for this study, fashion film was analyzed based on the typology of art films. The following conclusions regarding artistic expression were drawn from this study : First, the Prada fashion films represent a transition to advanced art through a conceptual approach. Second, the causal relationships personality psychology can be cited through the disturbed and fragmented narrative lines. Third, the films help people identity Prada's aesthetics by humanizing the luxury brand. Fourth, the films are a feature of serialization.

젠스 젠슨(Jens Peter Jensen)의 자연주의적 조경양식 및 표현특성 (Jens Jensen's Naturalistic Landscape Style and Its Expression Characteristics)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 초기 환경보전주의자이자 자연주의적 조경양식을 개척하였던 미국 조경가 젠스 젠슨의 생애와 철학, 작품분석을 통해 그의 디자인 철학과 표현양상을 분석하고 오늘날의 조경사적 의의를 알아보는 것이다. 시카고 녹지체계 및 콜럼버스, 험볼트, 가필드, 더글러스 공원 등 주요 작품들을 분석한 결과, 미국 중서부 지역고유의 자연환경에서 영감을 받아 곡선과 원형 등의 자유로운 형태를 사용하였으며, 재료면에서는 자생종의 식재, 지역재료의 사용이 특징적이었다. 또한, 시간의 흐름과 경관의 변화, 변하는 계절과 빛에 집중하여 감성적인 표현양상을 보였다. 젠슨의 조경사적 의의를 정리하면, 첫째, 프레어리 스타일의 조경가로서 지역주의 및 자연주의 조경양식을 확립하고 이러한 정신을 확산하는데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 둘째, 초기 보존주의자로서 지역고유 경관의 보존과 이에 대한 교육을 조경의 중요한 가치라고 생각했다. 셋째, 사회개혁가로서 민주적 가치를 중요하게 생각하여 도시민들을 위한 공원체계 확립, 도시민과 아이들의 일상적 자연과의 접촉, 체험, 교육을 위한 공간 조성을 강조하였다. 젠슨의 자연주의적 조경양식과 실천적 보존주의적 디자인 철학과 비전은 오늘날 조경분야의 핵심과 본질을 확인하고 미래발전 방향에 대한 시사점을 준다고 할 수 있다.
