  • In this paper, I compared some characteristics between HPA and LPA using Feedforward method. Feedforward method is known for best IMD correction. HPA generated 46.5㏈c at 45.5㏈m output power. But, using feedforward linearing method, I could improve IMD to 67.17㏈c at the same output power. IMD could be improved 20.67㏈ at 45.5㏈m output power. I measured average power, IMD, total current, and efficiency of two amplifier at many different power levels. I could get about 70d3c IMD using feedforward method.

  • In this paper, a predistorter is presented for the orthogonal frequency division multiplxing (OFDM) systems with a transmit raised cosine (RC) pulse shaping filter and a high power amplifier (HPA). By exploiting zero-intersymbol interference (ISI) nature of the RC filter, the proposed predistorter placed before the filter only utilizes memoryless nonlinearity of the HPA, not the overall nonlinearity with memory induced by a combination of the filter and HPA. The predistirtion is realized upon fixed point iteration on OFDM symbols. Simulation results show that the proposed predisorter can be effectively employed to achieve significant performance improvement.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze genetic mutations, clinical manifestations, and treatment of patients with benign HPA in Korea. Methods: This case series study involved ten HPA patients who were referred to our hospital because of high phenylalanine concentration. We investigated their demographic features, clinical manifestations, and mutations of the PAH gene through direct DNA sequencing. Results: Among ten patients with benign HPA, two pairs of patients were related (father-daughter, mother-daughter relationship) cases, and all of them showed no specific clinical manifestations or notable past history. Their plasma phenylalanine levels ranged between 1.2 and 4.2 mg/dL. In the tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) loading test, all patients were nonresponsive to BH4. In the confirmation test of PAH mutation analysis, we identified eleven different alleles out of twelve. The most common allele was R53H (c.158G> A). In addition, two novel PAH gene mutations, V423A (c.1268T>C) and V51A (c.152T>C), were identified. Although the patients did not receive any pharmacologic treatment or continuous phenylalanine restriction dietary therapy, their neurocognitive development was normal. Moreover, on serial outpatient follow-up tests, all patients maintained phenylalanine levels below 6 mg/dL. Conclusion: This study is the first in Korea to analyze benign HPA patients. All patients with benign HPA could maintain phenylalanine levels below 6 mg/dL with normal neurocognitive development, without continuous therapy. Therefore, performing mutation analysis and distinguishing benign HPA from phenylketonuria (PKU) are important to help improve life quality in patients with benign HPA by avoiding unnecessary lifelong therapy.

  • In this paper, we design and implement high-power amplifier with 18 watt for W-CDMA repeater. We simulate microwave circuits using RF simulator, ADS1.3 and optimize the circuit to obtain the linear and high power using Harmonic balance method. Harmonic balance is an excellent method in the analysis of nonlinear system. The HPA is fabricated on tefron substrate($\varepsilon_{{\gamma}}$=3.48, h=0.5mm, T=0.035mm). From the measured result, the HPA has gain of 52dB, 1 dB compression power of 52.8dBm and good ACPR (Adjacent Channel Power Radio) performance.l Power Radio) performance.

  • Objectives : The aim of this research is to determine the effects of depression and anxiety symptoms of schizophrenic psychopathology on the HPA axis. Methods : Twenty patients with schizophrenia were included and divided into the medication non-exposed group(n = 10) and the medication exposed group(n = 10). Evaluated scales were the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS), Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms(SANS), Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms(SAPS), Hamilton Depression Inventory(HAM-D) and Hamilton Anxiety Inventory (HAM-A), and then the combined Dexamethasone/Corticotropin Releasing Hormone(DEX/CRH) test was conducted to determine the basal level, the peak level and the area under the curve(AUC) of cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH). Results : When the correlations between each psychopathology and cortisol level or ACTH AUC value were analyzed, HAM-D showed a negative correlation, whereas HAM-A showed a positive correlation. Also, the non-depression group(HAM-D ${\leq}$ 18) showed higher cortisol and ACTH concentrations than the depression group(HAM-D > 18), and the anxiety group(HAM-A ${\geq}$ 14) showed significantly higher concentrations than the non-anxiety group(HAM-D < 14)(p < 0.05). Also, as for the comparison between the medication non-exposed group and the medication exposed group, the non-exposed group showed significantly higher cortisol and ACTH concentration than exposed group(p < 0.05). Conclusion : This study suggest that anxiety symptoms rather than depression symptoms are related to the increased activity of the HPA axis of schizophrenics.

  • In this paper, a 10W GaN MMIC was designed and fabricated using the Ku-band SSPA module. For Design and fabrication of the SSPA module using Rogers(RO4003C) substrate was used for Branch-line structure. SSPA modules on budget Divider/Combiner was designed and fabricated less than the maximum insertion loss - 0.7dB. In addition, because it must be applied to the structural nature of GaN MMIC Gate Bias-Drain Bias circuit was implemented to apply the Gate-Drain sequential circuit, implemented the RF Power Detect, Temperature Detect, HPA On/Off function. Design and fabrication Ku-band SSPA Module got the measurement results that satisfy a maximum output of 15.6W, Gain 45.7dB, 19.0% efficiency.

Also, we fabricated main components micro-strip line to WR28 waveguide transition and WR28 wave guide power combiner for Ka-band SSPA. This Ka-band SSPA shows saturated output power 44.2 dBm, power added efficiency 16.6 % and power gain 39.2 dB at 29~31 GHz frequency band.

  • A new adaptation algorithm for the digital predistorter is presented. The proposed technique employs the real-time transmitted signals through HPA for the table update. Hence the proposed algorithm does not depend on modulation format and the signal transmission of HPA is not affected during the adaptation process. The experimental results are presented to verify the proposed method and we obtained about 8.4 dB of ACPR improvement.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the nonlinear performance on the DS/CDMA Communication System. At the $BER=10^{-4}$, uniform chip waveforms have similar performance in the linear channel. However, non-uniform chip waveforms have about more 0.5[dB] power gain than the conventional raised-cosine chip waveforms. In the nonlinear HPA, non-uniform chip waveforms have worse BER performance than the uniform chip waveforms because of the high PAPR. In other words, non-uniform chip waveforms show similar performance as uniform chip waveforms if IBO (input back on) of 15[dB] is given.

  • It's a challenging task to design a high performance modulation for satellite and space communications due to the limited power and bandwidth resource. Constant envelope modulation is an attractive scheme to be used in such cases for their needlessness of input power back-off about 2~3 dB for avoidance of nonlinear distortion induced by high power amplifier. The envelope of Feher quadrature phase shift keying (FQPSK) has a least fluctuation of 0.18 dB (quasi constant envelope) and can be further improved. This paper improves FQPSK by defining a set of new waveform functions, which changes FQPSK to be a strictly constant envelope modulation. The performance of the FQPSK adopting new waveform is justified by analysis and simulation. The study results show that the novel FQPSK is immune to the impact of HPA and outperforms conventional FQPSK on bit error rate (BER) performance. The BER performance of this novel modulation is better than that of FQPSK by more than 0.5 dB at least and 2 dB at most.
