  • We present a new computer vision technique which can detect unexpected or static vertical objects in road driving environment. We first obtain temporal and spatial difference images in each frame of a stereo video sequence. Using the difference images, we then generate VO and HO maps by improving the conventional V and H disparity maps. From the VO and HO maps, candidate areas of vertical obstacles on the road are detected. Finally, the candidate areas are merged and refined to detect vertical obstacles.

  • This study was performed to develop a basic stacks pattern for middle-aged women reflecting the characteristics of their lower body types. Anthropometric measurements using sliding guage method were carried out for 4 women 40's For the analysis of the lower body types horizontal and vertical section maps obtained by sliding gauge method and 2 indices were produced. Based on the slacks construction components produced by the drafts of their lower body surface experimental slacks pattern was designed. Multiple comparison test was used to compare 3 existing slacks patterns with the experimental pattern. 1. The results of the body section map analysis were as follows: 1) In the frontal view silhouette of vertical section maps there were less individual differences in items with skeleton landmarks than those without them. 2) In the shape of horizontal section maps waist section represented more round shape than the others and thigh maximum width section had the flattest shape. Flat ratios(depth/width) of subjects were much higer than those of young women which clarified the change of depth was bigger than that of width with aging process. 2. The slacks construction components for pattern drafting were as follows: 1)Ease amount of waist was 0.5cm and front and back waist girth difference was 1.2cm Ease amount of hip was 1,8cm and front and back hip girth difference was 0.7 cm 2) The amount of dart intake incresed in the order of side(4cm) back(3,6cm) from (2.8cm) The length of dart leg incresed in the order of front side back.

  • This paper proposes a moving object extraction method using the contrast map and salient points. In order to make the contrast map, we generate three-feature maps such as luminance map, color map and directional map and extract salient points from an image. By using these features, we can decide the Attention Window(AW) location easily The purpose of the AW is to remove the useless regions in the image such as background as well as to reduce the amount of image processing. To create the exact location and flexible size of the AW, we use motion feature instead of pre-assumptions or heuristic parameters. After determining of the AW, we find the difference of edge to inner area from the AW. Then, we can extract horizontal candidate region and vortical candidate region. After finding both horizontal and vertical candidates, intersection regions through logical AND operation are further processed by morphological operations. The proposed algorithm has been applied to many video sequences which have static background like surveillance type of video sequences. The moving object was quite well segmented with accurate boundaries.

  • In this paper, we propose a new blind image watermarking method in wavelet domain. It is necessary to find out watermark insertion location in blind watermark. To select the watermark embedding locations, we use the increment and decrement information of the successive approximation coefficients after discrete wavelet transformed. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm we embed watermark into test images and detect the watermark after attacks like JPEG lossy compression and performing of various liters. Experimental results show that the proposed method is robust against various kinds of attacks and still remains transparency.

  • Reversible watermarking hides some information in a digital image in such a way that an authorized party could decode the hidden information and also restore the image to its original state. In this paper, a high capacity reversible watermarking method using histogram shifting is proposed. In order to increase embedding capacity, the proposed method divides the image into $2{\times}2$ blocks and uses a paring(horizontal, vertical, diagonal) inside each block, then finds a maximum embedding bin which has the most frequent difference values among the parings. Also, the proposed method removes the overflow and underflow by using location map which including the maximum embedding bin and increases the embedding capacity by embedding iteratively. The experimental results show that the proposed method provides a high embedding capacity and good visual quality compared with the conventional reversible watermarking methods.

  • Quality assessment ai s to evaluate if a distorted image or video has a good quality by measuring the difference between the original and distorted images or videos. In this paper, to assess the visual qualify of a distorted image or video, visual features of the distorted image are compared with those of the original image instead of the direct comparison of the distorted image with the original image. We use edge projections from two images as features, where the edge projection can be easily obtained by projecting edge pixels in an edge map along vertical/horizontal direction. In this paper, edge projections are obtained by using vertical/horizontal directions of gradients as well as the magnitude of each gradient. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed quality assessment through the comparison with conventional quality assessment algorithms such as structural similarity(SSIM), edge peak signal-to-noise ratio(EPSNR), and edge histogram descriptor(EHD) methods.

  • The KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite(KOMPSAT)-2 has a capability to provide a cross-track stereo imagery using two different orbits for generating various spatial information. However, in order to fully realize the potential of the KOMPSAT-2 stereo imagery in terms of mapping, various tests are necessary. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility of mapping using the KOMPSAT-2 stereo imagery. For this, digital plotting was conducted based on the stereoscopic images. Also the Digital Elevation Model(DEM) and an ortho-image were generated using digital plotting results. An accuracy of digital plotting, DEM, and ortho-image were evaluated by comparing with the existing data. Consequently, we found that horizontal and vertical error of the modeling results based on the Rational Polynomial Coefficient(RPC) was less than 1.5 meters compared with the Global Positioning System(GPS) survey results. The maximum difference of vertical direction between the plotted results in this study and the existing digital map on the scale of 1/5,000 was more than 5 meters according as the topographical characteristics. Although there were some irregular parallax on the images, we realized that it was possible to interpret and plot at least seventy percent of the layer which was required the digital map on the scale of 1/5,000. Also an accuracy of DEM, which was generated based on the digital plotting, was compared with the existing LiDAR DEM. We found that the ortho-images, which were generated using the extracted DEM in this study, sufficiently satisfied with the requirement of the geometric accuracy for an ortho-image map on the scale of 1/5,000.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the performance of KOMPSAT-3 Digital Surface Model (DSM) made in overseas testbed area. To that end, we collected the KOMPSAT-3 in-track stereo image taken in San Francisco, the U.S. The stereo geometry elements (B/H, converse angle, etc.) of the stereo image taken were all found to be in the stable range. By applying precise sensor modeling using Ground Control Point (GCP) and DSM automatic generation technique, DSM with 1 m resolution was produced. Reference materials for evaluation and calibration are ground points with accuracy within 0.01 m from Compass Data Inc., 1 m resolution Elevation 1-DSM produced by Airbus. The precision sensor modeling accuracy of KOMPSAT-3 was within 0.5 m (RMSE) in horizontal and vertical directions. When the difference map was written between the generated DSM and the reference DSM, the mean and standard deviation were 0.61 m and 5.25 m respectively, but in some areas, they showed a large difference of more than 100 m. These areas appeared mainly in closed areas where high-rise buildings were concentrated. If KOMPSAT-3 tri-stereo images are used and various post-processing techniques are developed, it will be possible to produce DSM with more improved quality.
