A lipase from Aeromonas sp. LPB 4, a psychrotophile isolated from a sea sediment was purified and characterized. The lipase was purified 53.5 fold to a homogeneous state by acetone precipitation and QAE sephadex column chromatography and its molecular weight was determined to be 50 kDa by SDS-PAGE. The enzyme exhibited maximum activity at 10$^{\circ}C$ and was stable at temperatures lower than 50$^{\circ}C$. This lipase favored substrates containing medium carbon chain of acyl group, while too low and high carbon chain decreased its activity. The lipolytic activity of purified lipase was slightly increased by the addition of 0.1% detergent, but decreased by 1% of detergent. Butanol severely decreased the lipase activity while methanol increased the activity about 15%.

This study suggests 5 evaluation criteria (safety and technology, environmental impact, economic feasibility, social factors, and institutional factors) and 24 evaluation indicators for a NFC (nuclear fuel cycle) derived using factor analysis. To do so, a survey using 1 on 1 interview was given to nuclear energy experts and local residents who live near nuclear power plants. In addition, by conducting a factor analysis, homogeneous evaluation indicators were grouped with the same evaluation criteria, and unnecessary evaluation criteria and evaluation indicators were dropped out. As a result of analyzing the weight of evaluation criteria with the sample of nuclear power experts and the general public, both sides recognized safety as the most important evaluation criterion, and the social factors such as public acceptance appeared to be ranked as more important evaluation criteria by the nuclear energy experts than the general public.

Recently, a sheet forming process of Mg alloys is highlighted again due to increasing demand for Mg wrought alloys in the applications of casings of mobile electronics and outer-skins of light-weight transportation. Microstructure control is essential for the enhancement of workability and formability of Mg alloy sheets. In this research, AZ31 Mg alloy sheets were prepared by hot rolling process and the rolling condition dependency of the microstructure and texture evolution was studied by employing a conventional rolling mill as well as an asymmetric rolling mill. When rolled through multiple passes with a small reduction per pass, fine-grained and homogeneous microstructure evolved by repetitive dynamic and static recrystallization. With higher rolling temperature, dynamic recrystallization was initiated in lower reduction. However with increasing reduction per pass, deformation was locallized in band-like regions, which provided favorable nucleation sites f3r dynamic recrystallization. Through post annealing process, the microstructures could be transformed to more equiaxed and homogeneous grain structures. Textures of the rolled sheets were characterized by $\{0002\}$ basal plane textures and retained even after post annealing. On the other hand, asymmetrically rolled and subsequently annealed sheets exhibited unique annealing texture, where $\{0002\}$ orientation was rotated to some extent to the rolling direction and its intensity was reduced.

Haze is a local weather phenomenon in which very small droplets float in the atmosphere, and the amount and characteristics of haze may vary depending on the region. In particular, these haze reduce visibility, which can cause air traffic interference and vehicle traffic accidents, and degrade the quality of security CCTVs and so on. Therefore, in the past 10 years, research on haze removal has been actively conducted to reduce damage caused by haze. In this study, local haze removal is performed by weight generation using a haziness degree evaluator to adaptively respond to haze-free, homogeneous haze, and non-homogeneous haze cases. And the proposed method improves the limitations of the existing static haze removal method, which assumes that there is haze in the input image and removes the haze. We also demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method through quantitative and qualitative performance evaluations with benchmark algorithms.

Metal artifacts cause inaccuracies in target delineation, radiation treatment planning, and delivery when computed tomography images of a radiotherapy patient implanted with a high-density material in the body are acquired. In this study, we investigated the possibility of obtaining improved images in clinical trials through metal artifact reduction using silicon impression materials without the need for a specific metal artifact reduction algorithm. A silicon impression material exhibiting a constant Hounsfield unit (HU) value according to the mixing ratio of the catalysts and bases was selected. The material did not exhibit any change in weight or shape over time. For both the instances of inserting the metal material and applying the silicon impression material, the HU value and dose were compared with homogeneous cases filled with water-equivalent materials. When the silicon impression material was applied to the region where the high-density material was located, the HU value was within 5% and the dose was within 3% compared with those of the homogeneous cases. In this study, the silicon impression materials reduced metal artifacts. However, because the composition, shape, size, and location of high-density materials differ, further studies are required to consider these factors in clinical applications.
The preparation method of yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ) thin film for an anode support type solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) by electrophoretic deposition(EPD) and dip-coating was studied. And the difference in both preparation method was investigated through basic understanding of processing parameters which may significantly affect weight microstruxcture and defect of film. In dip-coating the thickness of film increased with time until 30 s and then the weight of film decreased with time due to particle falling off from the coagulated film. In EPD although the weight of film increased with time and applied constant-current sagging of the film was observed when the applied current was less that 0.035 mA/$cm^2$ and more than 120 s. Since YSZ thin film by EPD on porous substrate was dense smooth and homogeneous it was expected to be suitable for the electrolyte of an anode support type SOFC.
Hydroxyapatite(HAp) powders were synthesized by wet-precipitation precess using $Ca(NO_3)_2{\cdot}4H_2O$ and $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ and homogeneous composites of four type were prepared by mixing of synthetic HAp and Polyacrylic Acid(PAA). Ca/P ratio of synthetic HAps was determined using ICP analysis and the thermal property of HAp/PAA composites were investigated by TGA. Good crystalline HAp was obtained at pH 11 and $60{\circ}C$. The ratio of Ca/P in synthetic HAps was quantified in a range of 1.35~1.49, from which Ca-deficient HAp was obtained. The specific surface area of HAp/PAA composite increased with increasing the content of PAA and the weight loss of HAp/PAA composite at $800{\circ}C$ decreased in a range of 3.5~9.6% due to the degradation of PAA binder. From FT-IR analysis of HAp/PAA composite, it was confirmed that the ionic bond between ion of HAp and carboxyl group of PAA was formed.

In order to prevent the high velocity bullet from penetration, aluminum alloy and RHA(Rolled Homogeneous Armour) steel, which have a high tensile and compressive strength, are usually used as the bullet-proof armor material. Although these materials have a good bullet proof performance, but not an area density which is a weight increasing factor of bullet-proof armor. Therefore, Mg(magnesium) alloy is a promising substitute for the traditional bullet-proof armor material due to the relatively low areal density. The spatial efficiency of Mg alloy, however, is inferior to the traditional material's, which is a volume(thickness) increasing factor of bullet-proof armor. In this study, we select the multi-layered hybrid armor which consist of Ceramic, with a high strength; Mg alloy, with a low areal density; Kevlar, with a high tensile strength-to-weight ratio; in order to make up for the poor spatial efficiency of Mg alloy. By predicting V50 of the multi-layered armor against 9mm FMJ(Full Metal Jarket). we show that the multi-layered armor have the capability in improving bullet-proof performance in the respect of the areal density, but also the spatial efficiency.
Heterogeneous metallocene catalysts supported on montmorillonite (MMT), [$Cp_2ZrCl_2$/MMT, $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/MAO/MMT, and $Cp_2ZrCl_2$ + MAO/MMT], were prepared with three different methods of immobilization and tested for ethylene polymerization. The heterogeneous catalysts immobilized on organo clay (30B-MMT) showed the higher metal loading and polymerization activity than those immobilized on natural clay $Na^+-MMT$. These results suggest that the hydroxyl groups of organo clay interlayers react with the MAO and catalyst through the chemical bond. The metallocene catalyst supported directly on MMT showed lower activity for ethylene polymerization compared to the homogeneous systems, while MMT/MAO/$Cp_2ZrCl_2$, catalysts treated with MAO before impregnation, showed a higher activity. The polymers obtained from MMT-supported catalysts have higher melting point, molecular weight and molecular weight distributions than those of homogeneous catalysts. The polymer particles with increasing significant size. Ethylene polymerization over 30B-MMT/MAO/$Cp_2ZrCl_2$ catalyst was also performed varying the process variables to optimize the process conditions.

This research is a study on the characteristics of OPC-slag cement using nano-silica solution (NSS) with water-weight substitution method. The new replacement method is a fundamental step to study the behavior of cement with higher NSS replacement rates than previous studies. NSS was replaced by 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the mixing water weight. As a result, the mechanical and microstructural characteristics were improved. This can be summarized in two ways. First, when the NSS is replaced with mixing water, the homogeneous dispersion action of the nano-silica particles is improved. This promotes initial hydration. Second, substitution of NSS with higher density than mixing water reduces w / b. This forms a dense hydration reaction material. The new substitution method did not show any degradation of mechanical and microstructural properties as compared with the results using the powdered nano-silica particles revealed in the previous study. Therefore, it is considered that the method of weight substitution of NSS used in this study can be applied to the formulation of OPC-slag cement.
