Factors affecting home cooking behavior of women with elementary school children applying the theory of planned behavior

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to examine factors affecting cooking behavior at home. We examined components of the theory of planned behavior, perception of cooking skills, and socio-demographic variables affecting cooking behavior at home. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The study sample included 425 women raising elementary school children living in South Korea. They responded to an online structured questionnaire. The variables affecting cooking behavior at home were assessed using hierarchical regression analysis. RESULTS: The frequency of cooking behavior at home was 14.1 meals per week. Most respondents showed an intention regarding cooking behavior. The average score for attitude toward cooking behavior at home was 15.1 points (scale of 1 to 25). Attitude and cooking behavior showed a significant positive correlation (P < 0.01, r = 0.22). The subjective norm was 14.6 points (scale of 1 to 25). The subjective norm showed a significant correlation with cooking behavior (P < 0.01, r = 0.18). The control belief was 2.8 points (scale of 1 to 5). The control belief and cooking behavior showed a significant correlation in all questions (P < 0.01, r = 0.25). The subjects were significant confident about their cooking skills, except for Kimchi. Perception of cooking skills showed a significant correlation with all questions concerning cooking behavior (P < 0.01, r = 0.30). Significant variables for predicting intention regarding cooking behavior were perception of cooking skills, employment status, income, and attitude. Significant variables for predicting cooking behavior were employment status, income, control belief, number of children, and behavioral intention. CONCLUSIONS: In order to provide nutrition education to increase cooking behavior at home, it is necessary to have a positive attitude toward cooking behavior, increase control belief, and improve confidence related to cooking skills. Moreover, differentiated education based on the employment status of women is needed.

남녀 노인의 의사소통 행동과 결혼만족도 (Communication Patterns and Marital Satisfaction among Elderly Men and Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between communication patterns and marital satisfaction of elderly men and women. The participants of this study were 206 elderly (60 years and older), and they were all recruited in Seoul. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, the communication patterns of elderly men and women were affected significantly by background variables, self-esteem, and personality style. Second, marital satisfaction was affected significantly by background variables, self-esteem, and personality style. Self-esteem was the major factor that had significant impact on the marital satisfaction for all respondents. Third, there was a gender difference in the impact of background variables, self-esteem, and communication pattern on marital satisfaction. For elderly men, the factors affecting marital satisfaction were, in decreasing order, constructive communication, destructive communication, self-esteem, and economic condition, whereas for elderly women, the factors were, in decreasing order, constructive communication, self-esteem and destructive communication.

배경음 및 잡음에 강인한 위험 소리 탐지에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hazardous Sound Detection Robust to Background Sound and Noise)

  • Recently various attempts to control hardware through integration of sensors and artificial intelligence have been made. This paper proposes a smart hazardous sound detection at home. Previous sound recognition methods have problems due to the processing of background sounds and the low recognition accuracy of high-frequency sounds. To get around these problems, a new MFCC(Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient) algorithm using Wiener filter, modified filterbank is proposed. Experiments for comparing the performance of the proposed method and the original MFCC were conducted. For the classification of feature vectors extracted using the proposed MFCC, DNN(Deep Neural Network) was used. Experimental results showed the superiority of the modified MFCC in comparison to the conventional MFCC in terms of 1% higher training accuracy and 6.6% higher recognition rate.

건강가정지원센터의 가정 건강성 강화 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초 연구 (A Preliminary Study on Development of Family-Empowering Program In Healthy Family-Support Center)

  • The purpose of this study is to constitute the background theory and framework for developing the family-empowering program of Healthy Family-Support Center(HFSC). For this purpose, first, this study emphasizes that the development of integrated and differentiated program for HFSC is needed. Second, this study shows the theoretical background including ecological system theory, family system analysis theory, and family life coaching process. Third, assessment and evaluation system and subsystems are suggested as a basic frame for developing family life diagnosis tool. This system is based on the comparative analysis about the studies relating family life planning and case management. Fourth, the process of family empowering program is suggested to accomplish the family needs and goals. This process include the assessment, family life coaching for problem solving and/or family life planning, and following education and counselling. Last, this study shows how this program is related to other programs of HFSC. Family members can participate various programs of this center for preventing or solving the problem on the basis of evaluation results. Family-empowering program for making family healthy can be a representative and integrating program for this center.

장애유아 어머니와 비장애유아 어머니의 부모역할만족도 비교연구 (A comparative study on parental satisfaction between mothers who have young children with and without disabilities)

  • This study compared parental satisfaction between mothers who have young children with and without disabilities. The study subjects were 100 mothers who take care of disabled children and 123 mothers who take care of non-disabled children. The children's ages were from 3 to 6 years. The results of this study were as follows First, the mothers who take care of disabled children had lower mother's parental satisfaction than those who have ordinary mothers. Second, the children's age and the degree of disability had an affirmative influence on the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have disabled children. There were significant differences in the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have ordinary children according to mothers' age and their educational background. The parental satisfaction in both mother groups increased with increasing parenting efficacy, marital satisfaction and family support, and with decreasing parenting stress. Finally, parenting efficacy, children's age, parenting stress, and family support significantly predicted the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have disabled children while parenting efficacy, parenting stress, and educational background significantly predicted the parental satisfaction of the mothers who have ordinary children.

닭고기 가공식품의 소비성향에 관한 조사 (The Consumption Pattern of Further Processed Chicken Product)

  • This survey is carried out in order to understand the perception and eating pattern of chicken further processed product of the housewives in Korea. 894 questionnaires were used for analysis. Chicken is loved by all age groups of people, especially at home of young housewives and of high educational background. The reasons of purchasing chicken further processed products were \"Children(57.8%)\", \"Convenience(43.2%)\" and \"Taste(30.1%)\". The average purchasing frequency of chicken further processed products is \"Once a month\". The criteria for selection of chicken further processed product were \"Hygiene(64.9%)\", \"Expiration date(58.4%)\", \"Brand(25.4%)\", \"Taste(21.9%)\" and \"Price(19.0%)\". Housewives depend on the \"Brand\" in selection of chicken further processed products as the educational background improves. The shopping place of purchasing chicken further processed product were \"Discount store(43.1%)\", Department store(27.4%)\" and so on. The pattern of consumption \"Buy chicken further processed products and cook at home(5.9%)\" was still very low. \"Order for delivery(57.4%)\" increased rapidly for chicken consumption. The housewives suggest to produce chicken further processed products \"Hygienically(16.7%)\", \"Improve taste(12.2%)\" and \"Restrict food additives(11.9%)\" among 311 responses.

성남지역 거주자들의 여가문화시설 이용실태 및 요구에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Use and Demands for Leisure Facilities)

  • The purpose of this study is to make use of the data as a basic material for the plans for the leisure facilities in Songnam, investigating the actual use and demands of local residents about leisure facilities in Sujung-& Jungwon-gu and Pundang-gu for the improvement of life quality through the art and cultural life of the residents in Songnam area. The questionnaires of this study were distributed over Pundang-gu and Sujung-& Jungwon-gu 710 copies in total. There were some meaningful differences in household about the actual use of leisure facilities (4 types): in Pundang-gu, occupation and age of husband, occupation of housewife, existence of children, monthly income, house size, number of rooms and possession of cars; in Sujung-& Jungwon-gu, educational background and occupation of husband, occupation of housewife about the social and recreation facilities only. Another meaningful differences in household about the demands for leisure facilities are: in Pundang-gu,/educational background and age of husband, age of housewife and the youngest child, and possession of cars; in Sujung-& Jungwon-gu,/age, occupation and location of workplace of husband and housewife, and age of children.

청소년기의 대인행동에 미치는 배경요인에 관한 연구 -일반고등학교.산업체.산업체 부설고등학교 청소년을 중심으로- (A Study on the Background Variables Influencing the Interpersonal Behavior of Youth)

  • The author aimed at clarifying the background variables that influence on the interpersonal behavior of youth, and getting the data for comprehensive guidance programs of youth in high schools and industries. In this study the author samples academic high school boys and girls, attached high schools boys and girls to industries and laboring youths. the Scale of interpersonal behavior was administered to the youths sampled as above and the data were analysed accounting to groups, sex, and religious. The results of the study are as follows. 1. The most important factor influenced the interpersonal behavior of youth was identified as social environment. That is, the youths in industries or students attached high school to industries showed more prominent characteristics in interpersonal behavior patterns. Then industrial environment effects more on the youth's behavior than school environment. 2. Sex differences were identified is in interpersonal behavior of youths. Boys are more managerial and autocretice, more cooperative, more docile, more self-efacing, more aggressive and more aggressive and more resistant than girls. But in christian group there found no sex differences is interpersonal behavior. 3. Religion was thought to be one of the most important influencing factor to the interpersonal behavior .But in this study there found no realistic effects, of religion on the interpersonal behavior as much as though of. 4. But according to the denominations, christianity was found to influences more on the interpersonal behavior of youths than Buddhism.

닭고기에 대한 소비자 인식도 및 소비형태에 관한 연구 (The Perception and Consumption Pattern of Broiler Chicken in Korea)

  • The most prevailing consumption pattern of chicken was "Buy fresh and cook at home (79.8%)". The frequency of eating chicken dish was about "Twice a month". Total average of degree of Preference is "2.30". It is very much close to "Like (2.0)" rather than "Average (3.0)". The degree of preference of chicken decrease as the age increase. About 30% of the housewives have the experience of buying chicken "Cut-up". But "Whole chicken (79.7%)" was still used mostly for chicken dish at home. As the education background improves or living expense increases, housewives purchase chicken "Cup-up" more frequently. The major criteria in purchasing chicken was "Hygiene (67.4%)""Quality (55.2%), "Expiration date (36.7%)" follows next. The groups of ′Above 50 years′, ′Graduate school′ and ′More than 3 million won′show greater interest about "Health" than any other groups. Major chicken dish at home in Korea was "Chopped hot chicken (70.7%)". "Boiled chicken soup (43.2%) \" and "Ginseng chicken soup (39.3%)" follows next. "Order for delivery (57.4%)" increased rapidly for chicken consumption. Croup of ′20~30 years′ order chickens for delivery more frequently than other groups. But as the age of housewives increases, they cook at home more frequently. The most preferred chicken dish for dining-out were "Fried chicken (69.4%)" and "Spicy chicken (57.4%)". The preference of Korean traditional dish for dining out was decreasing except "Chuncheon chicken rib (14.2%)".2%)".

자발적 단순성지향 생활양식(Voluntary Simplicity Life Style)에 기초한 환경운동의 방향 (A Direction of the Environmental Movement based on Voluntary Simplicity Life Style)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between the environmental movement and voluntary simplicity life style. The results of this study are as follows: First, both voluntary simplicity life style and the environmental movement are concepts which became the center of public interest because of the evil practices appeared in the process of the development of capitalism. Second, the level of consciousness of environment is comparatively high, but the level of the power of execution is comparatively low as a whole. In the case of Korea, people have not yet the mature responsibilities of citizenship. It is very important to enforce different informal educations in order to increase the effectiveness of the environmental movement. Home training based on voluntary simplicity life style is the most important informal education for the purpose of increasing the effectiveness of the environmental movement. Consequently, for the preservation of environment we need to do our best endeavors such as home training based on voluntary simplicity life style, environmental education based on our social and cultural background, and more powerful administrative measures which is administrative support rather than administrative control.
