  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a service system for a digital hologram video, which has not been published yet. This system assumes the existing service framework for 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional image/video, which includes data acquisition, processing, transmission, reception, and reconstruction. This system includes acquisition of color and depth image pairs from a image acquisition system with vertical rigs, rectification of acquired image pairs and generating digital hologram. Also it is designed to reduce the CGH (computer-generated hologram) generation time to 1/3. It also includes some additional and optional functions such as watermarking, compression, and encryption.

  • In this paper, we analyze the normalization that occurs when processing digital hologram and propose an optimized quantization method. In JPEG Pleno, which standardizes the compression of holograms, full complex holograms are defined as complex numbers with 32-bit or 64-bit precision, and the range of values varies greatly depending on the method of hologram generation and object type. Such data with high precision and wide dynamic range are converted to fixed-point or integer numbers with lower precision for signal processing and compression. In addition, in order to reconstruct the hologram to the SLM (spatial light modulator), it is approximated with a precision of a value that can be expressed by the pixels of the SLM. This process can be refereed as a normalization process using quantization. In this paper, we introduce a method for normalizing high precision and wide range hologram using quantization technique and propose an optimized method.

  • We propose a now watermarking scheme that can be used to embed multiple bits and also resilient to geometrical transforms such as scaling, rotation, and cropping, based on off - axis holographic watermark that allows multiple watermark recovery without original content(cover image). The holographic watermark is that Fourier transformed digital hologram is embedded into cover image in the spatial domain. The proposed method has not only increased robustness with a stronger embedding but also imprescriptibility of the watermark in the evaluation process. To compare with the convention기 scheme, the spread spectrum, we embedded and recovered maximum 1,024 bits that consist of binary number over PSNR(peak signal-to-noise ratio) 39dB. And also, we computed robustness with BER(bit error rate) corresponding the above attack

  • This paper introduces the analysis and development of digital holographic data codec technology to effectively compress hologram data. First, the generation method and data characteristics of the hologram standard data set provided by JPEG Pleno are introduced. We analyze energy compaction according to hologram generation method using discrete wavelet transform and discrete cosine transform. The quantization efficiency according to the hologram generation method is analyzed by applying uniform quantization and non-uniform quantization. We propose a transformation method quantization method suitable for hologram generation method through transform and quantization experiments. Finally, holograms are compressed using standard compression codecs such as JPEG, JPEG2000, AVC/H.264 and HEVC/H.265 and the results are analyzed.

  • In this paper, we propose a Fresnel transform method using various wavelet functions to efficiently decompose digital holograms. After implementing the proposed wavelet function-based Fresnelet transforms, we apply it to the digital hologram and analyze the energy characteristics of the coefficients. The implemented wavelet transform-based Fresnelet transform is well suited for reconstructing and processing holograms which are optically obtained or generated by computer-generated hologram technique. After analyzing the characteristics of the spline function, we discuss wavelet multiresolution analysis method based on it. Through this process, we proposed a transform tool that can effectively decompose fringe patterns generated by optical interference phenomena. We implement Fresnelet transform based on wavelet function with various decomposition properties and show the results of decomposing fringe pattern using it. The results show that the energy distribution of the coefficients is significantly different depending on whether the random phase is included or not.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new technique to encode and decode the digital hologram. Since the digital hologram (or fringe pattern) is generated by interference of light, it has much different property from natural 2D (2 dimensional) images. First, we acquisite optical-sensed or computer-generated hologram by digital type, and then extract a chrominance component. The extracted digital hologram for coding is separated into segments to use multi-view properties. The segmented hologram shows the similar characteristics with picturing an object with 2D cameras in various point of view. Since fringe pattern is visually observed like as noise, we expect that the fringe pattern has poor coding efficiency. To obtain high efficiency, the segment is transformed with DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) which resembles hologram generation process with high performance. Each transformed segment passes the 3D scanning process according to time and spatial correlation, and is organized into a video stream. Since the segment which correspond to frame of a video stream consists of the transformed coefficients with wide range of value, it is classified and re-normalized. Finally it is compressed with coding tools. The proposed algorithm illustrated that it has better properties for reconstruction of 16 times higher compression rate than the previous researches.

  • We propose an experimental holographic imaging scheme combining compressive sensing (CS) theory with digital holography in phase-shifting conditions. We use the Mach-Zehnder interferometer for hologram formation, and apply the compressive sensing (CS) approach to the holography acquisition process. Through projecting the hologram pattern into a digital micro-mirror device (DMD), finally we will acquire the compressive sensing measurements using a photodiode. After receiving the data of two holograms via conventional communication channel, we reconstruct the original object using certain signal recovery algorithms of CS theory and hologram reconstruction techniques, which demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed method.
