The development of recent computer and communication technology has changed Automation System using communication network, and the new USB substituted with Serial Communication is already developed and now popular. In this paper, High speed data transfer system design using USB interface and communication application simulated for the situation is introduced. Base on USB, we can use additive function efficiently coped with former field device. The 'Winsock Connection USB Ternimal,' designed for hardware simulation, control the field device connected by USB, and provide the way for remote control of field device by Telnet connection through TCP/IP. That theorem can guarantee controlling direct input dta of user, and acuate function of field device using USB Packet Transmission. As a result of amy research, this communication application system identified good operation of field device with those of former field device. Another result of the experiment of hardware operation, we obtained accomplishment that the sufficient bandwidth guarantee of USB has high speed and high performance, and reduce the occupancy of system.

In this paper, we propose a new and cost-effective RCP (Rapid Control Prototyping) system based on Matlab/Simulink and a DAQ (Data Acquisition) unit with the high speed USB communication interface. The proposed RCP system has a feature that a computer on which Simulink is running acts as a realtime controller and a DAQ unit performs data acquisition, transmission of the data to and from a computer, and the application of control data received from the computer. For its implementation, we develop 10 communication blocks each of which is constructed by using S-function. In order to increase the data communication speed and thus to reduce the sampling period of the overall control system, we propose to use a batch transfer strategy through the USB interface. The proposed RCP system has several advantages over existing methods such as good maintainability, portability due to the USB interface, low cost, and no necessity for C-code generation even though it can only be applied to control systems with moderate sampling rates. It is expected that the proposed RCP system can be useful in teaching control-related topics to undergraduate and graduate students.
FLL (Frequency Locked Loop) is the core block for high-speed transceiver. It incorporates a PLL for fine locking action, and a coarse controller for coarse locking action. A coarse controller compares frequencies coarsely and is applied to detected frequency difference directly. Compare to conventional FLL, frequency is applied to proposed FLL. Proposed FLL in this paper achieves only 5 cycles for coarse lock and total frequency locking time is 5 times faster than conventional FLL. Thus, proposed FLL is more useful to Ethernet transceiver application that requires high-speed data transfer than conventional FLL. Proposed FLL is based on $0.18{\mu}m$ process.

In optical disk drives (ODD), the demands of high data density and high speed have been increasing rapidly to achieve high data capacity and data transfer rate. The short wavelength laser, High NA objective lens, and high track following performance are needed to raise data density and data rate. For high-performance actuator, the improvement of linearity and acceleration become more important. Also, 3-axis actuator for active tilt compensation is introduced to overcome the decrease in disk tilt tolerance which is induced by short wavelength laser. In this paper, a hybrid type 3-axis actuator is presented and a new yoke structure, which can reduce the interaction between yoke and moving magnet, is designed to keep the efficiency of magnetic circuit. Experimental results show the validity of the yoke in the hybrid type actuator.

4D CT is a dynamic volume imaging system of moving organs with an image quality comparable to conventional CT, and is realized with continuous and high-speed cone-beam CT. In order to realize 4D CT, we have developed a novel 2D detector on the basis of the present CT technology, and mounted it on the gantry frame of the state-of-the-art CT-scanner. In the present report we describe the design of the first model of 4D CT-scanner as well as the early results of performance test. The x-ray detector for the 4D CT-scanner is a discrete pixel detector in which pixel data are measured by an independent detector element. The numbers of elements are 912 (channels) ${\times}$ 256 (segments) and the element size is approximately 1mm ${\times}$ 1mm. Data sampling rate is 900views(frames)/sec, and dynamic range of A/D converter is 16bits. The rotation speed of the gantry is l.0sec/rotation. Data transfer system between rotating and stationary parts in the gantry consists of laser diode and photodiode pairs, and achieves net transfer speed of 5Gbps. Volume data of 512${\times}$512${\times}$256 voxels are reconstructed with FDK algorithm by parallel use of 128 microprocessors. Normal volunteers and several phantoms were scanned with the scanner to demonstrate high image quality.
In this paper, we describe implemented DMAC (Direct Memory Access Controller) architecture on Altera's $Excalibur^{TM}$ that includes industry-standard $ARM922T^{TM}$ 32-bit RISC processor core operating at 200 MHz. We implemented DMAC based on AMBA (Advanced Micro-controller Bus Architecture) AHB (Advanced Micro-performance Bus) interface. Implemented DMAC has 8-channel and can extend supportable channel count according to user application. We used round-robin method for priority selection. Implemented DMAC supports data transfer between Memory-to-Memory, Memory-to-Peripheral and Peripheral-to-Memory. The max transfer count is 1024 per a time and it can support byte, half-word and word transfer according to AHB protocol (HSIZE signals). We implemented with VHDL and functional verification using $ModelSim^{TM}$. Then, we synthesized using $LeonardoSpectrum^{TM}$ with Altera $Excalibur^{TM}$ library. We did FPGA P&R and targeting using $Quartus^{TM}$. We can use implemented DMAC module at any system that needs high speed and broad bandwidth data transfers.

This paper shows the results of local flow speed measurement using tunable AC thermal anemometry, which is suitable for the accurate measurement of wide range flow speed. The measurement accuracy is verified through the comparison between the measurement data and the analytic solution of the sensor temperature oscillation in stationary fluid. The relation between the phase lag and the flow speed is experimentally investigated at various conditions. The measurement sensitivity for low flow speed improves in a low frequency region and that for high flow speed improves in a high frequency region. Also, the sensitivity increases with decreasing thermal conductivity of the surrounding fluid. The local flow speed could be measured as low as 1.5 mm/s and the highest measurement resolution was 0.05 mm/s in the range of 4.5 $\~$5.0 mm/s at 1 Hz in this experiment.

This paper presents about an implementation of Video Transmitting and Receiving System(VTRS) for acquiring test data. The VTRS consists of two parts. The first is Transmitter Unit(TU) that is installed on a missile to acquire various kinds of data and transmit the data to the ground through RF signals. The second is Receiver Unit(RU) that receives the transmitted RF signals and reconstruct those to the original data. To gather a high speed data reliably and securely on the ground, the TU is designed by considering data transfer scheme, data compression, modulation method, encryption technic, link budget, and antenna radiation pattern. Further, a placement method of multiple receiving stations is suggested. The VTRS has been tested on a field to check the link margins and maximum receiving distance in a real environment. Finally, the VTRS is applied to a missile flight test and gathered high speed data reliably.

In this paper, we have investigated the disc warping in high-speed slim-type optical disc drive. The track density as well as high rotational speed of the information storage devices must be increased to enhance their recording capacity and data transfer rate. Generally, ODD used in the Lap-top computer has small inner space. So, the flow instability of the inner space is increased rapidly with its rotational speed. In extreme case, the flow instability may cause the malfunction of the read/write pick-up of drives. The experiments and numerical analysis were carried out for several cases and the result shows the influence of airflow to the disc warping.
e-VLBI was invented to enhance the efficiency of VLBI (Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry) system by transmitting the data via high speed network. Korean VLBI Network (KVN) has a plan to construct e-VLBI system named e-KVN. High speed backbone network and efficient network model are essential to implement successful e-VLBI system. This paper introduces a network model based on PC cluster technology. The present status of high speed backbone network in Korea is overviewed. We suggest that the network link via Korea Advanced Research Network (KOREN) is one of feasible way for e-KVN. We also describe the principles of e-VLBI and protocol for network transmission such as VSI-E (VLBI Standard Interface - Electronic), RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) and RTCP (Real-Time Transport Control protocol).
